March 2012: published Stephen Moss’ report on children’s (dis) connection with nature.
Summer 2010: Launched “Outdoor Nation” with roving reporter Leni Hatcher

1. It's not safe to go out because of stranger danger (37%)
2. There aren't any safe places to go outdoors nearby (25%)
3. There is too much traffic in our area (21%)
4. They prefer to do things indoors (15%)

Potential directions
• Grow the role of nature as part of the everyday school experience
• Grow local access to family-friendly green space
• Adopt a benefit/risk approach to ‘dangers’
• Promote nature as a key part of a family life.
