Television becomes part of peoples lives. Some people think that watching television is conducive to their waste

of time while others believe that this habit nurtures good behavior in children. My essay will provide insights into

pros and cons of this issue

On one hand, it is believed that television watching bestows on children advantages. First of all, thanks to this

habit, children feel entertained after assiduous days at work. Music programs on television such as Vietnam Idol o

The Voice are said to ease their stress greatly. Equally important, children themselves can nurture good behavior

and learn meaningful lessons by watching educational programs. For instance, no sooner has my sister watched

charity campaigns on television than she takes part in this activity and betters her society. In another case,

according to social surveys, those children who are updated with latest news on television are knowledgeable and

communicative with various discussions with others. One of my friends who met an English man was respected fo

his good understanding of British culture, and he said that such savvy was obtained from his years of watching

    discovery channel on television.

On the other hand, there are noticeable disadvantages of this activity. It is true that this habit can lead to

childrens fatigue, especially when they are addicted to watching television. Surveys have also shown that those

spending more than 3 hours watching suffer a higher risk of obesity and eye sight problems. Besides, educational

speaking, as a consequence of being obsessed with virtual world, children may become less active in thinking and

communication. Studies have stated that compared with reading, watching television is a much more passive

hobby, lessening childrens imagination and creativity since children are directly affected with images without

deep critical thinking. Furthermore, violent programs on television which are broadcast more often are partly

responsible for childrens behavioral deterioration. A little kid in America who used guns to point at a series of

people confessed that his action was provoked by his watching a hero do the same time in a movie.

In brief, there are both pains and gains behind television. Therefore, parents should be the guide for children to

make use of good sources of television and limit harmful influence to as ensure a comprehensive and healthy

    education the latter.
