*Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) is a school district in northwest unincorporated Harris County, Texas, USA.

*There are 186 square miles of land within the boundaries of CFISD. In land area, CFISD is the second largest school system out of the 22 districts in Harris County. Bordered by seven other school districts—Houston, Spring Branch, Katy, Klein, Aldine, Tomball and Waller.

*CFISD has more than 850 subdivisions and apartment complexes within its borders.

*There are a number of industries within the CFISD borders, including international corporations and a number of small factories and plants.

*CFISD is the third largest school district in Texas.

*The district has 82 campuses (52 elementary schools, 16 middle schools, 11 high schools, and three special program campuses).

*Cypress-Fairbanks ISD offers training to several groups throughout the school year to help identify students for the McKinney-Vento Act. These groups include:

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Your child has been identified and approved for services under the McKinney-Vento Act 42 U.S.C. 11434a(2), which is also known as Title X, Part C, of the No Child Left Behind Act. Provided under the Act, he/she is entitled to the following general rights:

* The right to stay in their school (school of origin), even if they move out of the school district. Students can remain in their school until the end of the school year even if they find permanent housing.

* The rights to immediately enroll, attend classes, and fully participate in neighborhood school in the area where they are living, without proof of residency, immunization records, or other medical records, school records, or other documents. 

* The right to access certain school services including free school meals, services for English language learners, special education, Title I services, vocational/technical education, gifted and talented services, transportation to school or origin, and before and after-school care, as needed.

* The right to the same opportunity to meet the same high academic standards as all students.

The parent/guardian of a homeless child shall be provided contact information for the District’s homeless liaison and the state coordinator for education of homeless children and youths.

*Needs Assessment Forms*EASE Counselors are responsible for maintaining the

services given and rendered to their identified homeless students. The Needs Assessment Form is an essential process in the Homeless Liaison’s Office.

 *The Needs Assessment Form is to be completed and

submitted electronically on the first of each month and no later than five school days after the first. Every EASE Counselor has been provided with an EXCEL workbook that contains the required format for the Needs Assessment Form.
