“On the basis of current empirical evidence and mostly consensual assessments of informed opinion, it appears that the historical candidate gene literature did not yield clear insights into the genetic basis of schizophrenia.”
Five genes (..) were rated as highly likely to be a genetic risk factor for schizophrenia (rating ≥4 on a 1–5 scale). With the exception of DRD2, none of the informed ratings ≥4 is supported by empirical results from the older SZGene or the newer PGC mega-analysis.
