The WP4200 ControllerThe WP4200 Platform controllers are based on the multi-core CPU technology. It offers superior performance and with its built-in floating point unit it is perfectly suited for high demanding control- and regulation applications. Furthermore, the controllers are equipped with high-speed gigabit Ethernet interface, for communication in the wind farm. Additionally there is one more Ethernet interface backbone communication to the distributed I/O modules. It also features safety chain relay logic that integrates with the safety system to fulfill the requirements in the ISO 13849-1 standard. In standalone mode WP4200 controller can provide power supply for up to 3 WP-Line modules connected to WP-Line bus.

The controllers of the WP4200 platform are equipped with internal maintenance-free power back-up, ensuring all data is stored in the event of system power failure (UPS shutdown/failure) and program update.

The USB 3.0 port can be used with USB devices complying with the USB Mass Storage Class Specification, like USB Flash drives and hard disc drives, allowing storage of up to 2 TB of data.

The controller uses the advanced OS42xx Operating System software, featuring the Failsafe Flash file system, TCP/IP protocol stack, WEB-server, plug-and-play identification/

configuration of all WP-Line modules, status code system, 30-year summation structure, menu system and log systems.

The OS42xx Operating System API is 100% backwards compatible with the OS4000 and OS4100 operating systems in case of invariant system layout – this ensures that existing applications can be used with the WP4200 Platform controllers without any modification or recompilation.

The module handles the executing of up to 10 different synchronous/asynchronous applications running in parallel. As an example this can be: turbine control application, grid quality monitor and condition monitoring applications, standard communication protocols, customer specific communication protocols, CODESYS RTS, etc.

The controller supports the IEC 61131-3 (CODESYS) PLC programming languages as well as advanced programming in C and C++, using PEPTOOL or other programming tool of your choice.

The WP100 PlatformThe WP100 Platform is specially designed for control of small and medium sized wind turbines. The basic variant, WP100 Controller – 00, has a set of various on-board I/O channels that makes it possible to use the controller as standalone (w/o additional I/O modules) to control less complex systems. At the same time, it is possible to connect up to 3 WP-Line I/O modules when more I/O channels needed.

The on-board grid interface makes it possible to calculate main grid parameters by precise and reliable DSP algorithms according to IEC 61400-21 standard. The controller is equipped with two high-speed interfaces that work as separate network interfaces. The controller features also safety chain relay logic. The WP100 Controller– 31 with built-in multiport Ethernet switch (among others, includes fiber optic 100BASE-FX port) can be extended with more I/O groups via Backbone interface. The WP100 Controller–32 has built-in GPS receiver and can provide geographic coordinates and accurate time for the system.

All controllers of the WP100 Platform support CANopen Master functionality (optionally). A special application is required to run CANopen and can be delivered on demand.

All controllers of the WP100 Platform are equipped with internal maintenance-free power back-up, ensuring all data is stored in the event of system power failure (UPS

shutdown/failure) and program update. The USB 2.0 port can be used with USB devices complying with the USB Mass Storage Class Specifiation, like USB Flash drives and hard disc drives, allowing storage of up to 2 TB of data. The controller uses the advanced OS1xx Operating System software, featuring the Failsafe Flash file system, TCP/IP protocol stack, WEB-server, plug-and-play identifiation/ confiuration of all WP-Line modules, status code system, 30-year summation structure, menu system and log systems.

The OS1xx Operating System API is 100% backwards compatible with the OS4x00 operating systems family – this ensures that existing applications that run on WP4100 and WP4200 platforms can be installed on the WP100 Platform controllers without any modification or recompilation when the hardware setup is compatible. The controller handles the executing of up to 10 different synchronous/asynchronous applications running in parallel. As an example this can be: turbine control application, park control application, standard communication protocols, customer specifi communication protocols, CoDeSys RTS, etc.

The controller supports the IEC 61131-3 (CoDeSys) PLC programming languages as well as advanced programming in C and C++, using PEPTOOL or other programming tool of your choice.

The WP4x00 MK ll Control ConceptThe WP-Line 111 MK ll Power Supply/Backbone module is part of the WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept which has been specially designed to control large wind turbines - on- and offshore. The WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept ensures opti-mal operation, high security, and advanced data collection.

The concept typically consists of a power supply/backbone module, a WP4100 MK ll controller, a grid measurement module as well as an analog/digital I/O module depend-ent on the specific configuration task. The WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept makes it possible to have redundant solu-tions. The concept is constructed as a plug-and-play sys-tem with automatic module detection and error reporting.

The WP-Line 111 MK llThe WP-Line 111 MK ll Power Supply/Backbone module is an improvement of the older WP-Line 110 and functions as power supply for the single module blocks in the WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept. The inter-block communication (backbone) in the WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept is carried out by the WP-Line 111 MK ll via an optical Ethernet. The backbone is constructed as a single ring. The fibre optic type is 62.5/125µm.

Furthermore, the WP-Line 111 MK ll is equipped with 2 x 100Mbit Ethernet RJ45 plugs for connection of a graphi-cal display/keypad or PC. This enables operating the com-plete WP4x00 MK ll Control System at all available module blocks.

The WP4x00 MK ll Control ConceptThe WP-Line 112 MK ll Gigabit Ethernet Switch/PSU module is part of the WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept which has been specially designed to control large wind turbines - on- and offshore. The WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept ensures optimal operation, high security and advanced data collection.

The concept typically consists of a power supply/backbone module, a WP4x00 MK ll controller, a grid measurement module as well as an analog/digital I/O module dependent on the specific configuration task. The WP-Line 112 MK ll Gigabit Ethernet Switch/PSUThe WP-Line 112 MK ll is a high-speed backbone communi-cation module with several connection posibilities. It functions as power supply for the single module blocks in the WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept.

The inter-block communication (backbone) in the WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept is carried out by the WP-Line 112 MK ll via an optical Ethernet. The backbone is constructed as a single ring. The fiber optic type is 62.5/125μm or 50/125μm.Furthermore, the WP-Line 112 MK ll is equipped with four Gigabit Ethernet RJ 45 plugs for connection of a graphical display/keypad or PC. Hence, operating the complete WP4x00 MK ll Control System is possible at all available module blocks.

Automatic firmware update is managed by the WP4x00 MK ll controller. The module can easily be programmed as a CANopen Master, interfacing the WP4x00 MK ll controller to any CANopen device (frequency converter, Pitch controller etc.). Via the generic CANopen application (in compliance with CiA301 and CiA DSP 302 specification standards) and user-friendly interface of the Mita-Teknik “CANopen Configuration Tool”, all CANopen network parameters can easily be configured and adjusted.

The WP4x00 MK ll Control ConceptThe WP-Line 151 MK ll Grid Measurement module is part of the WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept which has been specially designed to control large wind turbines - on- and offshore. The WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept ensures optimal operation, high security, and advanced data collection.

The concept typically consists of a power supply/backbone module, a WP4x00 MK ll controller, a grid measurement module as well as an analog/digital I/O module dependent on the specific configuration task. The WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept makes it possible to have redundant solutions. The concept is constructed as a plug-and-play system with automatic module detection and error reporting.

The WP-Line 151 MK llThe WP-Line 151 MK ll module has three voltage and three current analog inputs. The module is powered from the WP-Line BUS.

The WP4x00 MK ll controller can automatically update the programs via the network. The communication to the WP4x00 MK ll controller is event-based, which means that only changed values are transmitted via the network. Analog part is based on 16 bit precision ADC.

The WP-Line 151 MK ll module performs three basic functions:› Calculates main grid parameters› Switches turbine off the grid in case of grid fault› Provides WP4x00 MK ll controller with data

Main grid parameters like voltage, current, active and reactive powers, etc. are used by the WP4x00 control application for turbine overall control. Calculation of main grid parameters by precise and reliable DSP algorithms has the following features:› Frequency calculation algorithm assures measurement accuracy 0.01 Hz and higher› Voltage and currents are calculated using FFT algorithms› Powers and energies are measured according to IEC 61400-21 standard› Precise DSP algorithms and high update rate make support for FRT/LVRT

Apart from just measuring main grid parameters the WP-Line 151 MK II module can perform grid protection functions.In particular, it can protect the grid in case of the following grid faults:› Over/under voltage› Over/under average voltage› Over current› Over/under frequency› Over power› Reactive power high/voltage low› Vector jump› Rate of change of frequency (ROCOF) high

By default, the grid protection functionality of the WP-Line 151 MK ll module is disabled. For the WP-Line 151 MK ll module to perform grid protection functions it must be properly configured. The grid protection functionality of the WP-Line 151 MK ll module provides two level of grid protection:

› The first level is passive, that is, faults are only detected and registered but no active actions are undertaken.

› The second level is active, that is, when grid fault happens the relay is activated and thus the turbine is switched off the grid.

Furthermore, there is an option for manual relay activation regardless of grid faults state. Relay can be reset (closed) automatically, if voltage and frequency is within the specified range or manually. Grid protection by WP-Line 151 MK ll module operates with such definitions as threshold, dropout level and timeout.

› Threshold level defines a value crossing of which up or down – dependent on whether it is high or low threshold - leads to activation of ”timeout” timer.

› Dropout level defines a value crossing of which down or up – dependent on whether it is high or low threshold - leads to fault clearance.

› Timeout value defines time interval between crossing threshold and fault activation.

Once the relay is activated, it stays in this state during certain minimum period which is configurable value. There is an option for programmatical inversion of relay behavior - relay activation can be associated with either relay open or relay close state.

Fault reaction time, that is, time interval between fault detection and relay activation is configurable timeout value. If minimum reaction time is required then timeout is set to 0.

In case of voltage fault maximum relay reaction time is 30 ms. In case of frequency fault maximum relay reaction time is 50 ms.

Over/under voltage protection, over/under frequency protection and automatic relay closing are certified by TUV according to the BDEW 2008 standard. Certificate registration number is 44 797 15179701. The certificate is valid till 2021-03-14.

The WP-Line 351 MK llThe WP-Line 351 MK ll Combi I/O module is equip-ped with 2 flexible COM-ports. COM1 can be configured to RS232/422/485 or SSI, COM2 can be configured to

RS422/485 or SSI via the software - as per requirement. The module also consists of various I/O‘s.

The digital I/O‘s are based on 24 Volt and consist of the following:› 16 high current digital solid state outputs› 26 digital inputs› 4 multi inputs: high speed input to 10 kHz or digital input

The analog section is based on 12 bit analog convertion and contains:› 4 flexible analog outputs that can be configured to -/+ 10 V or 0-20 mA as per requirement› 4 analog inputs, -/+10 V › 4 analog inputs, 0-20 mA › 8 PT100 inputs, - 60° to +230 °C› 2 multi inputs: thermistor with possibility of connecting more thermistors in series or as digital input

All I/O‘s are galvanic separated and all outputs are short-circuit protected. The WP4x00 MK ll controller automatically updates the program via the network. The communication to the WP4x00 MK ll controller is event-based, which means that only changed values are transmitted via the network.

The module is powered from the WP-Line BUS. Software maintenance can be done onboard, even while the wind turbine is running/operating. All inputs are galvanic isolated from the system, have short circuit protection and sensor failure detection.

The WP4x00 MK ll controller automatically updates the pro-gram via the network. The communication to the WP4x00 MK ll controller is event-based, which means that only changed values are transmitted via the network.

The WP4x00 MK ll Control ConceptThe WP-Line 418 MK ll Digital Input/Output, Analog Current Input, PT100/PT1000 Input module is part of the WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept which has been specially designed to control large wind turbines - on- and offshore. The WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept ensures optimal operation, high security and, advanced data collection. The concept typically consists of a power supply/backbone module, a WP4x00 MK ll controller, a grid measurement module as well as an analog/digital I/O module dependent on the specific configuration task. The WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept makes it possible to have redundant solutions. The concept is constructed as a plug-and-play system with automatic module detection and error reporting.

The WP-Line 418 MK ll The WP-Line 418 MK ll module is equipped with digital inputs, digital outputs, analog current inputs and PT100/

PT1000 inputs. The digital I/O’s are based on 24 Volt and consist of the following:› 16 digital inputs› Digital inputs voltage: 24 VDC› 16 digital outputs› Digital outputs voltage: 24 VDC/0.5 A

The analog section consist of the following: › 16 analog current inputs› 0 – 20 mA, with an accuracy better than ± 0.15% of full scale› 8 PT100/PT1000 inputs› Temperature measuring range -60 to +230 °C› PT100 or PT1000 sensor mode is configured by software

Software maintenance can be done onboard, even while the wind turbine is operating. All I/O’s are galvanic separated from the CPU system and all outputs are short circuit protected. The PT100/PT1000 inputs have sensor failure detection. The WP4x00 MK ll controller automatically updates the software via the network.

The communication to the WP4x00 MK ll controller is event-based, which means that only changed values are transmitted via the network.

The WP4x00 MK ll Control ConceptThe WP-Line 511 MK ll CANopen interface module is part of the WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept which has been specially designed to control large wind turbines - on- and offshore. The WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept ensures optimal operation, high security and advanced data collection.

The concept typical consists of a power supply/backbone module, a WP4x00 MK ll controller, a grid measurement module as well as an analog/digital I/O module dependent on the specific configuration task. The WP4x00 MK ll Con-trol Concept makes it possible to have redundant solutions. The concept is constructed as a plug-and-play system with automatic module detecting and error reporting.

The WP-Line 511 MK llHigh speed Ethernet to CANopen Master interface designed for stand alone operation and as a part of the WP4x00 MK ll Control Concept.

Internal 10/100 Ethernet switch for routing and interfacing. Backbone Ethernet communication can be connected with

optic fibre cables as double ring with one spare fibre cable for backup. This setup provides high communication safety, as this con-figuration allows operation despite of a defect optic fiber. The optic fibre cable type is 62.5/125μm or 50/125μm. Additional 2 x 10/100 Ethernet (RJ45) are on the module. Up to 1MBit/s CANopen Master communication to other CANopen based devices. Galvanic isolated CANbus interface.

Internal condition monitoring, 7-segment display showing group number and 3-LED status indication facilitates fast servicing.

Automatic firmware update is managed by the WP4x00 MK ll controller.

The module can easily be programmed as a CANopen Master, interfacing WP4x00 MK ll controller to any CANopen device (frequency Converter, Pitch controller, etc.). Via generic CAN-open application (in compliance with CiA301 and CiA DSP 302 specification standards) and user-friendly interface of Mita-Teknik “CANopen Configuration Tool” all CANopen network parameters can be easily configured and adjusted to meet the preset requirements.

The module supports Layer Setting Services (LSS) according to CANopen specification CiA DS-305.

The WP4053 The WP4053 Graphic Color Touch Screen Display is used with Mita-Teknik Control System and provides access to the wind turbine. The display is compatible with WP4x00, WP100 and WP3x00 MK II Control Platforms. It gives possibility to start/stop the wind turbine, gives access to diagnostic information, parameters changing and troubleshooting. It is perfect solution for cost-optimized systems and where size of the display is one of the crucial factors.
