2008: a workgroup starts with the concept
2009: the concept was approved by the ministry and the workgroup starts to prepare the realisation
2011: a call for tenders took place
2012: Company IVU, Berlin won the tender and starts with software development
2013 November: Pilot starts in three Water- and Shipping Offices
April 2014: Rollout in the whole German Water- and Shipping Administration is planed
Costs: Development, Data Migration, Training, Rollout: about 500 000 €
Maintenance during the first five years: additional 100 000 € per year

Waterways and shipping offices and their inspectoral districts
Easier recording and management of navigation signs, including the positioning
Facilitation of substitution, cooperation and bundling of the task
Direct availability of navigation sign information (via Waterways and Shipping Administration intranet)
The system can go live immediately, as the basic data of the navigation signs can be extracted and provided from the IENCs
Map production centers
Using an interface the data will be provided standardized form and can easily included in the IENC and other maps. The individual editing of data is not necessary any more during the map production process.
For better cartographic representation (displacement and rotation for avoiding overlapping) special attributes are connected with the navigation signs
