Data Integration

DataCube runs on various databases through ODBC connectivity. It supports MS-Access, MySQL, Oracle, Sybase, IBM DB2 or Any other ODBC supported database, however large your database maybe. It also supports Fixed ASCII Formatted files like MS-Excel and Delimited Formatted ASCII files like MS-Word, Notepads, etc.

Your organization accumulates a lot of data, and it's probably spread across multiple databases and operational systems, making it no easy task to access the information when you need it. By integrating your data into a unified database or data view, the data integration services of Datacube BI can help you manage it all and get down to the real task of making sound business decisions.

Capabilities of DataCube

Data Warehousing

If your company's data is like that of most companies, it resides in many places, such as multiple databases and operational systems. A data warehouse is the container that brings it all together to help you get critical information into the right hands more easily. The data warehousing component of Datacube BI provides a central location for storing data and maintaining all your important historical and current business information.

Reporting

There are many ways to get data into a report, but that's only part of the solution. An effective report creates a compelling story and communicates with clarity to audiences large or small. Datacube BI can help you get there with informative reports that lead to sound decision making. You can also turn static reports from traditional transactional platforms and from unstructured data sources into one view and convert them into dynamic reports

Page 4: Datacube Presentation

OLAP

Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) provides business users with access to data optimized for non-technical information workers for easy navigation, analysis, and reporting. DataCube's industry leading OLAP engine not only combines your data for easy analysis but also centrally stores your institutional business logic and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Analysis

Getting information is often just a first step in the decision-making process. When you view a report or scorecard and notice something unexpected, you want to know why. Datacube BI can help when this happens and it happens often. Powerful analysis tools help people develop a deeper understanding of business information and take decisive action. Analyze data using suggestive and automated insights.

Page 5: Datacube Presentation

Compact Summary Datacube automatically creates a very compact database with well defined tables. This database where the entire cube resides is of your choice i.e. Oracle, MySQL, IBM DB2, Ms-Access, Sybase, etc.

i.e. If a transactional database has got 12.5 million rows and occupies 14GB hard disk space, the cube will be created within 8 GB thereby saving precious server space along and reduce the response time in generating reports / dashboards to less than a minute.

Incremental Update

Datacube can process incremental data without having to reload all previously existing data. The cube can show current/latest/live data in the results/reports. It updates data at approx. 4,000 rows a minute. This saves time and can be done through batch mode or real-time using a scheduler.

Page 6: Datacube Presentation

Cube Designer Datacube has an exclusive feature wherein you can create multiple models within a single database using dimensions or master from different databases. You can also use a dimension in multiple models. You can model data in a self-service and web-based environment

This allows you to generate a single report/dashboard using different fields from different databases. e.g. if you need to generate a report giving you the costs of maintaining different offices against the revenue generated by them, then the financial transactional database gives you the expenses made and the revenue generated by each office while the payroll database gives the salary cost for each office.

Selective DeletionOld data residing in the cube can also be deleted based upon specific criteria. e.g. delete all data where sale date is < year 2002.

Predictive Analytics

Sometimes you have to sift through layers of information before a key data point shines through and you reach an insight. The problem for many is that rooting out the drivers of business performance and drawing correlations among them can require using unfamiliar and complicated tools. Datacube BI can change that with easy-to-use predictive analytics functionality that can help your organization uncover hidden trends and opportunities in its data.

Scorecards and Dashboards

Being aligned with your corporate objectives is a constant process that requires access to sound information. Scorecards and dashboards help people monitor performance and tie goals, status, or trends in easy-to-consume KPIs. Datacube BI integrates them deeply into its overall solution, enabling you to provide transparency and accountability to everyone in your organization.

Page 8: Datacube Presentation

Planning and Budgeting

Effective planning, forecasting, and budgeting are vital for your company's success. Many organizations manually manage plans and budgets, which leads to uncertainty in the data and a huge amount of money spent on maintaining this manual process. Datacube BI can help automate the management process without undermining the decision-making processes you currently use.

Delivery

Datacube BI will put an end to the drain of time and resources when people have to hunt down pieces of information that are strewn across file shares, Web sites, intranets, databases, and individual desktops. The key to making data easier to consume is to provide a single location where you can access and analyze data. Datacube's integrated BI approach provides place where people can find information, share insights, and collaborate with others.

Page 9: Datacube Presentation

User Interface of Your choice

DataCube comes with two dynamic linked libraries, which facilitate creation of Visual Studio Applications to build a cube as well as a preferred user interface of reporting.

Enterprise Search

People are familiar with searching the Internet to find information. Wouldn't it be great if searching for business information worked the same way It does with Datacube. The integrated search capability of Datacube BI makes content easy to find and eliminates a lot of duplicated effort. Plus, the Datacube solution keeps sensitive information secure, provides for scalability, and enables you to customize and extend your search experience.

Page 10: Datacube Presentation

Drill-Down & Roll-Up

Drilling down is the process of zooming in on data at lower level, thus seeing the members that make up the current value. E.g. when viewing your company’s sales per country, you can drill-down on a country to see the sales per city within that country. Rolling-up is the inverse of drilling-down, thus rolling-up on a city will provide the values per country.

Tools For Analysis

Save, Retrieve & Delete Grids

Allows users to save and retrieve the grids at your free will. One can create any number of grids, which when reopened will display results as per the current data.

Page 11: Datacube Presentation

Model Diagram

Model diagrams provide you with a bird’s eye view of all elements of the cube you are currently working with. This not only includes all dimensions, hierarchies, levels, members and measures, but you can also see the elements data values for those elements and general cube information (such as the last modification and processed date). The cube meta data can be viewed graphically or as a tree and can be searched and printed.

Printing & Exporting

You can print or export the information you are viewing to a variety of targets, including HTML, Excel, Word, PDF or as an email message. Before printing, you can optionally preview the output and add your own headers, footers and other customizations.

Page 12: Datacube Presentation

Contributions & Extra Results

Within a grid, it is possible to display extra results next to the already present values. These extra results can be as contributions (in %) to the row/column or totals. You can also add extra rows or columns to the grid giving statistical calculations based on the results. These statistical calculations are total, average, count, minimum, maximum, standard deviation and variance.

Powerful Charts

Datacube Charts are powerful with 200+ graph types like Bar, Pie, Column, Stack, Point, Bubble, Area, etc. with option to change colour, legends, 2D/3D, etc.

Option for Forecasting, Regression Analysis, Moving Averages, etc. also available with graphs.

Page 13: Datacube Presentation

Slicing

Slicing data is the process of setting the context of the information you are viewing. E.g. you can view the sales per customer in the context of the year ‘2000’ for products ‘A’ And / Or ‘B’. Setting the context is easy in Datacube, just select the dimension for which you want to include in the current context and move into condition windows.

Calculated Members

New calculations can be created, including common business calculations (totals, % difference, ratios, etc.), period comparisons (cumulative, change from last year/period, change from last year period in %, etc.), distinct count with basket analysis and statistical calculations (averages, standard deviation, variation, maximum, etc.). This can be done at the reporting stage as well as the module building stage. This can be done at the Model building stage as an additional dimension or at the report generation stage.

Page 14: Datacube Presentation

Filtering & Sorting

You can filter your results to exclude or include values that meet certain conditions akin to that in MS Excel. You can also sort your results by simply clicking the title of the column on which you want to sort.

Exception Highlighting

You can use exception highlighting (Icons, Bar, Fonts, Cell Colour, etc..) to focus attention on certain values. By applying exception highlighting rules you can quickly see which values qualify as being exceptional, such as the best performing stores or the worst performing products. Exceptions can also be totalled through range calculations.

Page 15: Datacube Presentation

Collaborative Notes

You can update notes for a report in the manner that you want with the program recording the user name with the date and time the note is made. Previously updated notes can be viewed by all accessing the report. Collaborate with colleagues at the report level.

Multiple Date & Time Options

You can select date & time options to support logic of current, next, previous etc. in hierarchies to see the YTD for this year, previous year, etc and also help merge the results to get a comparative study.

In Brief ........

Page 18: Datacube Presentation

HoneyComb: A totally new concept in automation and event-driven computing. It is an Event scheduler & Trigger.

Event Scheduler is where you can schedule a report to be generated on a set date and time automatically as a single event or periodically, i.e. daily, weekly, monthly or annually. You can also have the report automatically sent out to individuals, as required.

Event Trigger is where the application will send out an email, a sticky-note or a SMS to a user or user group, to inform them of the values within the report generated or if the values within the report generated go beyond the calculated or programmed parameters. E.g. if the daily sales value is outside the set Lower Spec (Rs 90,000) and/or Upper Spec (Rs 1,10,000), then the system will automatically generate an email/SMS/Sticky-note to inform the concerned user or group of users of this occurrence.

Features:

• Multi-user and individual user security. Facility to create multiple user groups.• Create Events and Event triggers.• Multiple forms of result exports through Email/SMS/Sticky-note.• Multiple layers of calendar settings.• Connection to DataCube or any other application generating reports in Excel or XML.

Add – On Features...
