Aastra MX-ONETM Manager Availability provides ault

and perormance management or MX-ONE servers and

applications, i.e. MX-ONE Telephony System, OneBox

(unifed messaging), as well as the LINUX and MicrosotWindows servers they run on.

MX-ONE Manager Availability is based on selected BMC

ProactiveNet Perormance Management components

and prepared or integration with existing SNMP-

capable management rameworks, providing the

beneit o leveraging customers’ existing skil ls,

processes and management ramework investments.

Functionality overview

MX-ONE Manager Availability provides ault and perormancemonitoring or MX-ONE servers and applications. Filtering

and basic correlation are provided to ensure that the

administrator/operator can ocus on important alarms and

protect customers’ management ramework rom overloads.

Some o the key eatures included are:

Server monitoring – Monitors perormance, resource

consumption and capacity o critical server components

such as CPUs, memory, caches, physical and logical disks

Application monitoring – Picks up and handles events, monitors status o critical applications

Perormance monitoring – Monitors trac data and vital

parameters

VoiP QoS monitoring – Basic QoS monitoring. There is also

an interace or providing inormation to an external system

or more advanced calculations and presentations

IP phone monitoring – Monitors how many IP phones are

reported, as well as deregistering o the IP phones

Web-based management interace: Internet Explorer or

other browsers supported

Communications between managed system and MX-ONEManager Availability utilize SSL

Manager Availability consists o the ollowing components,

all prepared or easy installation and integration with the

MX-ONE communications system to be managed:

Web-based management console sotware running on

Windows

Agent (one per server) sotware with knowledge modules

or managing detailed aspects o Windows and LINUX

servers, Active Directory and MX-ONE applicationsindividually. One agent with a knowledge module(s) is

installed on each managed server

FrameMaker integration

An SNMP bridge module provides integration o the manage-

ment console with an SNMP v1-capable management rame-

work. MX-ONE alarms are then orwarded to the management

ramework. The SNMP bridge module can be installed on the

same server as the console or it can be on another server closer

to the management ramework. It is installed on the same side

o a frewall as the management ramework to prevent SNMP

v1 rom bypassing the irewall. I management ramework integration is not required by the customer, this module is not

used. For small systems, the console and the SNMP bridge can

be co-located with communications unctionality. The recom-

mendation is to deploy the console and the SNMP bridge on

separate servers.
