What is the present fact?

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

The Azad Pattan project is one of five hydropower schemes on the Jhelum, the other four

Simply what is the Hydro power scheme?

The most common type of hydroelectric power plant is an

impoundment facility. An impoundment facility, typically a

large hydropower system, uses a dam to store river water

in a reservoir. Water released from the reservoir flows

through a turbine, spinning it, which in turn activates a

generator to produce electricity.

By illustratively in Tamil Nadu,

Amaravathi Dam, Bhavanisagar dam, Kateri hydroelectric system,

Kundah Power House, Lower Mettur Hydroelectric Project,

Maravakandy hydro-electric power house, Mettur Dam

Moyar hydro-electric power house, Papanasam Dam

Perunchani Dam, Papanasam Dam, Perunchani Dam

Is Thermal A Electricity?

A thermal power station is a power station in which heat energy is

converted to electric power. In most, a steam-driven turbine

converts heat to mechanical power as an intermediate to electrical

power. Water is heated, turns into steam and drives a steam turbine

which drives an electrical generator.

By illustratively in Tamil Nadu,

The company operates four large thermal power stations:

Ennore Thermal Power Station (ETPS) - 450 MW (2x60, 3x110 MW)

Mettur Thermal Power Station (MTPS) - 1440 MW (4x210, 1x600 MW)

North Chennai Thermal Power Station (NCTPS) 1830 MW (3x210 MW, 2x600 MW)

Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS) - 1050 MW (5x210 MW)

The company operates two large Nuclear power stations:[citation needed]

Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant - 2000 MW (2x917,2x917(under construction))

Madras Atomic Power Station - 470 MW (2x235,1X500( Under construction))

What about India’s stand with respect to Azad Pattan and other projects?

India has protested the construction of dams and other infrastructure in PoK and Gilgit Baltistan, which are territories claimed by it as part of Jammu & Kashmir.

Earlier India had also objected to the construction of the Diamer-Bhasha dam (on Indus

river) in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of the PoK.

Note: Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) is a part of the original Kashmir, whose borders touch to Pakistan area

of Punjab, Northwest, Wakhan corridor of Afghanistan, Xinjiang region of China and east of Indian Kashmir.

Conflicting Facts

1. The signing of the Hydel project comes at a time when India and China have been involved

in military conflicts following the Galwan Valley incident in the Ladakh region.

2. Iran along with China has gone ahead with the construction of the Chabahar rail

project without India's assistance citing funding delay.

3. These projects do not follow the principles of openness, transparency and financial

responsibility given by the International agencies.

4. These projects do not follow the principles of openness, transparency and financial

responsibility given by the International agencies.

Finally we may discuss about China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a part of the One Belt One Road (OBOR), intended to improve infrastructure within Pakistan for better trade with China and to further integrate the countries of the region. OBOR has two main components, One Belt - the land-based belt, and One Road refers to the ocean going ‘Maritime Silk Road’, which aims to connect the East Asian economic region with the European economic circle and runs across the continents of Asia, Europe and Africa.
