You have helped the PTA raise enough funds to support the Student of the Month program, Math Superstars, teacher and staff Birthdays, and incentives for good lunchroom behavior. The PTA also facilitated the A+ Celebration – a high rating awarded to us by Florida State for achieving high standards. By providing volunteers to set up and supervise various obstacle courses and games for the students to enjoy, as well as Sno Cones and popcorn. What a fun and enjoyable way to kick off this joyous time of year! Thank you! Renee Lindberg, PTA President

Message from the PTA President As we conclude the first half of the school year ( I know…. I can't believe it, either!?!?!) and enter the holiday season, I can't help but to reflect on this year and feel so thankful for the families and the entire staff at Panther Run Elementary. So many of you rallied and

supported the Bike Rodeo – a community outreach event that not only promoted safety among our students, but brought local businesses and families together for a common cause. Many of you volunteered at the event, donated raffle prizes and/or supported our event financially. Many of you purchased original art works from your students to support of Arts program at Panther Run and enjoyed our second annual Dinner and a Movie Night – despite the rain! You all were such great sports by moving into the cafeteria and making this endeavor a fun and successful evening. Finally, I wanted to let you in on some of the ways that you have helped to support Panther Run Elementary and your students so far this year: with your help, we have been able to purchase $330 worth

of supplies for Red Ribbon Week, as well as over $400 for stage curtains for the Music Department. We sometimes take for granted

In the rush of all we do,

And forget to say a special thanks

    To volunteers like you!

So we send this note to tell you

How much all you do means,

Your gifts of time and of yourself

    Are special ones indeed.

“The unwelcome November rain had perversely stolen the day's last hour and pawned it with

    that ancient fence, the night.”

― F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise

However, we moved inside and had the most wonderful Family Movie Night.

    THANK YOU FOR COMMING

Please, participate in the “Feed the mind holiday book drive” to support our sister school, Collins. Elementary.

Their Principal informed us that his students are in need

of books, not toys, this holiday season.

If you would like to assist, please send in a NEW book(s)

that would be appropriate for a student in grades K-5.

Boxes will be located in the main hallway to collect the books. We will collect books from December 8th -

    December 16th.

The Panther Run & Humane Society of

Broward County “PAW IT FORWARD” Drive for the Animals.

Please bring in any clean old towels, sheets,

    blankets, dog/cat toys, Purina dog/cat

food, etc. to be donated to the Broward County Humane Society.

We would like to give a special thank you to the moms who helped fundraise money for Autism Speaks with the donation boxes left at local businesses. We made $374 total.

This year's theme was 'Believe, Dream, Inspire' and students entered their

very own art work based on the theme in six different categories: Visual

Arts, Literature, Dance Choreography, Film Production, Photography,

and Musical Composition. Entries were divided into two divisions:

Primary (K-2) and Intermediate (3-5). Only three students per category

and division could advance to the Broward County Competition. In the

event a category had more than three submissions, local professional artists

were asked to help select three. County winners will advance to state and

    possibly national.

We would like to congratulate this year's participants and thank their parents for their support:

The goal of PTA’s arts in education programming is to partner with schools to

provide opportunities for all students to explore and be involved in the arts. The arts—and the National PTA Reflections program —support student success and serve as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in your school community. When PTAs and schools work together to support arts education, they: Encourage all students—despite individual challenges—to explore ideas,

express their individuality and support their peers in a positive way; Provide all students with an academic advantage by increasing student

engagement and teacher effectiveness, which leads to increased school attendance rates and social connectedness among students; and

Enhance family engagement by connecting families and schools to one another and to their communities.

Congratulations to the students that have been chosen to advance to the next level of competition:

Special thanks are in order: to Adrienne Sines for assisting with the PTA Reflections Program; and our local judges, Annette Fernandez, Art Teacher, Petite Picassos & Awesome Art, City of Pembroke

Pines Art & Culture Department, and Gloriela Araujo, artist and owner of El Taller.
