Daughters of Simone is a vintage bridal line that caters to the unconventional bride, “a rare bird”, as they put it. She is one with nature, feminine and finds beauty in simple things. She appreciates vintage styles, is a little bohemian and feels beautiful with flowers in her hair. All of the dresses are purchase online or found in vintage & thrift stores. The designers are beginning to create gowns from vintage fabrics and lace as well.

I have styled several photo shoots for D.O.S. and here are some sample photos. Theses particular shots take place on three different occasions at three different locations. All of the photo shoots were done outdoors where nature is the backdrop.

The first being at the beginning of the summer on May 21st, 2011, in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA. While going for the natural look, the models were told to arrive with little to no makeup and their hair down. There were 17 gowns to choose from and an assortment of jewelry, head pieces and shoes to accessorize with.

Jordan is wearing the Stella dress. Since the dress is on the short side and rather simple I decided to really vamp up the accessories. She is wearing a large ivory necklace and holding some pink peonies to give the frame a nice pop of color. This dress could be worn as a wedding dress but would be better suited for an engagement party or wedding rehearsal.

STELLA

Christy is a stunning beauty in the Ella dress. The bright yellow sunflowers give off just the right amount of hippie, while the burgundy shoes and gold belt keep it dressy.(Notice how the flowers are not tied with any ribbon they are bundled up by her grasp just as they would be if she had picked them herself.)

ELLA

Jordan is wearing the Alyse dress and she pulls of the perfect Ralph Laren Romance ad. The dress by its self is lovely but the look is pulled together with some ruby red 4 inch heels. The girl doesn’t need much but I added a simple gold belt to solidify an empire waist.

ALYSE

Christy is wearing the Coco dress. Since the dress is so casual I decided to play it up with a gorgeous antique gold necklace and some baby red roses. Christy keeps the urban look with some oxford brown heels, and to her give her more glam we through on some fur.

COCO

The second set of photos were taken at a house in Fresno C.A. This particular home has a huge surrounding yard and is located on the bluff, which looks over the San Joaquin river. My sister Brittany, (one of the founders and designers), lives in Fresno, hence the location.

Hair and makeup designers from the Paul Mitchel school were used for this photoshoot. After getting feedback from what the dress designers wanted I assisted in putting the ideas together. This was a lot larger shoot then some of the previous ones. There were 30 gowns to choose from and we set up three tables with shoes and accessories. Since the house was built on such large grounds we really got to play with many different backgrounds.

Shauna is the epitome of angelic in this casual number. She is one of the taller models I have worked with and she really foot the bill. I gave her a lower heel, the gold really complements the center of her daisy wreath. I showed off her pouty lip with some rouge colored lip stick and gave her a smoky eye.

RAINA

Lauren looks so comfortable in the Cherie gown. The look is tied together with a side braid hair do some plum lipgloss and little bronzer on the apples of her cheeks. I added a skinny belt to show off her tiny waist. She has a gold pearl ring on her left hand and is holding a bouquet of strawberry flowers.

CHERIE

This dress suited Mich so well that it was named after her. It was great to have a shorter model on set because she fit so well in all of the shorter dresses. Since the dress already has a lot going on with the sequins and chevron detail, the accessories were kept at a minimum. She is wearing her own tan leather heels and two silver rings on her right hand.

MICH

Gina is wearing the Marilyn gown which is on of my all time DOS favorites. Her beautiful red hair is an accessories in its self and I kept the accessories at a minimum, thus not to take away from the sparkling dress. She is wearing a vintage silver ring with diamonds.
