Steps to victory for the christian.

TRANSCRIPT

Page 1: David and Goliath
Page 2: David and Goliath

Goliath would have been about 9 feet 9 inches tall

In GODS “eyes” he is just a speck

When we focus on our problems and not our Living and Holy God our problems

can seem like giants

Page 3: David and Goliath
Page 4: David and Goliath
Page 5: David and Goliath

Never face a 9 foot GIANT with a sling shot…

We will face “Giants” or temptations or doubts or habitual sins in our lives….

The Giant of doubt

The Giant of temptation

The Giant of selfishness, pride, arrogance, anger, lust, love of money, and so on

Page 6: David and Goliath

Greater is HE that is in me than he that…

Victory is ours at the cross I do not have to live defeated

Never lose salvation

I can “surrender” through ignorance

disobedience

God did not save us to live a weak defeated life

Page 7: David and Goliath

May seem that Satan is winning down here

But we “walk” or live by faith not by sight

One of the blessings of constantly praying to and worshiping GOD is to remind us of Whom we are related to

In other words Put Him in the center of our lives where He belongs and should be

7 Steps To Freedom

8 Renounce involvements with any false religions or beliefs

John 14:6Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

John 8:24"Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."

2 Truth

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. Eph 4:24And put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Titus 1:2In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

3 Forgiveness

2 Cor 2:9-11…whether ye be obedient in all things.10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Eph 4:32Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Page 11: David and Goliath

Matt 18:34-35"And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. 35 “My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.“

Luke 17:3-4Pay attention and always be on your guard [looking out for one another]. If your brother sins (misses the mark), solemnly tell him so and reprove him, and if he repents (feels sorry for having sinned), forgive him. 4 And even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and turns to you seven times and says, I repent [I am sorry], you must forgive him (give up resentment and consider the offense as recalled and annulled).

4 Submission

Government1 Peter 2:13-18Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to

every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority,

14 or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.

15 For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.

16 Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.

17 Honor all men; love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.

18 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable.

Page 13: David and Goliath

ParentsEph 6:1-2CHILDREN, OBEY your parents in the Lord [as His representatives], for this is just and right. 2 Honor (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother — this is the first commandment with a promise

HusbandsEph 5:28-29So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church,

Wives1 Peter 3:1-2In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, 2 as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior.

Page 14: David and Goliath

Employers1 Peter 2:18-21Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. 19 For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

EmployeesCol 4:1Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.

Spiritual LeadersHeb 13:17Obey your spiritual leaders and submit to them [continually recognizing their authority over you], for they are constantly keeping watch over your souls and guarding your spiritual welfare, as men who will have to render an account [of their trust]. [Do your part to] let them do this with gladness and not with sighing and groaning, for that would not be profitable to you [either].

Page 15: David and Goliath

5 Humility

James 4:6-10But He gives us more and more grace (power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it). 7 So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery]. 9 [As you draw near to God] be deeply penitent and grieve, even weep [over your disloyalty]. Let your laughter be turned to grief and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame [for your sins]. 10 Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].

Page 16: David and Goliath

6 Freedom

James 5:16Confess to one another therefore your faults (your

slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

1 John 1:9If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess

our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].

Page 17: David and Goliath

Rom 13:14But clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and make no provision for [indulging] the flesh [put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature] to [gratify its] desires (lusts).

1 Peter 2:11Beloved, I implore you as aliens and strangers and exiles [in this world] to abstain from the sensual urges (the evil desires, the passions of the flesh, your lower nature) that wage war against the soul.

Rom 6:12-14 For this cause do not let sin be ruling in your body which is under the power of death, so that you give way to its desires;13 And do not give your bodies to sin as the instruments of wrongdoing, but give yourselves to God, as those who are living from the dead, and your bodies as instruments of righteousness to God.14 For sin may not have rule over you: because you are not under law, but under grace.
