David Annointed I Samuel 16:1-13
The Lord sent Samuel to see Jesse the Bethlehemite. “Take some oil and see Jesse the Bethlehemite, one of his sons will become
king,” God said to Samuel. So Samuel goes to see Jesse and takes his special oil with him. Samuel saw Jesse’s oldest son and thought that this was
the guy that God had chosen, but it was not so. “Do not look at his appearance or physical stature. The Lord looks at the
heart,” God said to Samuel. Samuel went to each of Jesse’s sons, but none of them were the one that God
had chosen. “Do you have any other sons?” Samuel asked Jesse. “Yes, I have one who is watching the sheep,” Jesse replied.
“Bring him to me,” Samuel said. When David had arrived, God spoke to Samuel saying, “This is the one. Anoint

“Why have you not come to battle me? Choose a man and let him come down to fight me. If he kills me, then we (the Philistines) will be your servants, but if

“Am I a dog, that you come to fight me with sticks” laughed Goliath. “Come and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field,” Goliath went on. He thought that this would be an easy
fight. “You come with a sword, a spear and a javelin, but I come to you in
