The works in this exhibition come fromtwo sources: Little watercolor vignettes

from historic Pears Mill in Buchanan.Fanciful charcoal drawings of broken

trees. These evolved from oil paintingsdone on the campus of Ox-Bow School

of Art in Saugatuck. These diverse worksare united by the black and white, and,

of course, by the quiet.

Active in Michiana since 1942, NorthernIndianan Artists is dedicated to thepromotion of contemporary creative artand strives to raise the quality of workproduced and the standards of thecommunity. NIA members include more than 150regional artists at all levels of experiencethat have passed an independent juryprocess to become an Active Member andto exhibit with the organization. Members work in two or threedimensions and in a wide variety of stylesand media.

LOST AND FOUNDNORTHERN INDIANA ARTISTSSHOWPLACE GALLERY

In celebration of Dia de los Muertos, the Buchanan ArtCenter has invited artists and community members tocreate an ofrenda altar to celebrate the life of lives of

family or friends that have passed away.

A small magazine documenting the exhibit, details ofthe ofrendas and the individuals remembered, alongwith information on the tradition and history will bepublished and distributed to participants and guests.

The installations will grow and change during the

exhibit culminating in the Dia de los Muertoscelebration on Saturday, November 2nd.
