This is Your West Coast Wedding Untraditional Rehearsal Dinner

Pacific Grove Scavenger Hunt!

Rules: Cheat all you want- ask bartenders, locals, waiters, fellow hunters, strangers, me, or the Internet.

Don't be shy. There are a series of clues that lead you to a place where you will then need to find a

detail (it will be underlined). Some parts of the hunt aren't clues- they are just directions. These aren'tindented nor numbered. Teams from 2-5 people. Total hunt is 2.3 miles. Dinner near the end, snacksand drinks beforehand! The couple is hosting food/drinks with bar tabs (one of his parents or I should

be at each spot to handle it). Call if you have a question- Anna at (415) 710-8526.

Directions & the Geography: Pacific Grove is a town on a slope, facing Monterey Bay. North is generally downhill to the Monterey Bay

East is usually flat, towards New Monterey, the Presidio, and Monterey South is usually uphill, towards the Del Monte Forest (then Carmel, Big Sur...)

West is also flat, towards the Pacific, though obscured by some forests

Starting point: In front of the fire station on Pine Ave (facing South)

1: Find the leaning palmCross to large house in back of it

This is David's parents' “empty nest” house Nearby is a pine on Pine, head uphill (south) along the little street

Pass the tire swing and double hoopsAt the end of the block find one of the most beautiful flower gardens in PG

Turn left which is East- Look for a white-socked tabby (if she's around)What's on her collar?

Suspended from a tree, a place for bathing- how many?

2: From here, continue going EastPast 2 blocks to Grand

Take a Right (South)Go 1/2 block - Find the On/Off Place

A few yards later, look up (or down) for red bristlesRiver rocks are down on the left, but

what were fossilized in cement at one time?

3. At the end, find the violet door and walk to yellow kidsTake a right (South) on "ice cream ___”

(that dime-store-drink) street Now, hiking uphill a bit, at the white gazebo

4. Keep going South an uneventful block – at a squat palm, find a red plaque:

"DIGS sur l'allée" - count the lawn ornaments – or – translate the sign (it's a mystery).

Keep heading South. Cross nasal spray. Keep heading South (we are close!)At steel railings + 4 stairs (You may hear some pipes)

Find a behavior guidelines sign... wonder what motivated this!

Continue South- past the field, turn left (East) where in theSouthWest corner sits a yellow Chinese gate & Haunted House

Walk along white picket fence until pink houseTake a right (South)

This is the street where David grew up!

5. The steepness is perfect for a photo like this:Take one! Which sister is it?

6. Speaking of David's lovely sisters... 4 are on this hunt,

and 2 have something special for the bride.Find the sisters & the item(s)

7. 1/2 way up this street enter the alley on your right (West)

Find 2 secret garden gates, across from each other What hangs from one?

Someone in the bridal party crashed into one of these garages on what kind of conveyance

8. At the T, turn left (South)- at the end, turnleft (East) to cross 14th

It will turn into a trail- fear not, past the pile of rock

The distance between these must havekept neighbors at peace.

(One of David's best buddies lived here,and our old place was 1 lot off this alley,

too)

9. Backup to 14th street, take a right (North)Can you guess what year the large

redwood on this block was planted?(David's Mom knows)

9b. David's room was top left one in the Blue House

Knowing David, what did did use to talk to his friend across thestreet... without ever having to leave his house...

9c. David's childhood sure seemed idyllic, but Jen's wasn't too shabby.

She had not one but many ___ (pets that all children want)....

Enough nostalgia! You deserve a drink.We're going to cover some ground fast going downhill.

(North) down past the blue “tree house”

10. Take a left (West) at the pink house

Follow line of Cypress and pine-Cross Fountain, follow Hillcrest and take a

Right (North) at “Can't see the __ for the Trees” - go past the entrance

Why are the kids excited about 10-14?Take a picture of one team member sitting, or napping on awkwardly situated bench

11. Keep heading North on ForestLeft (West) on Nasal Spray

½ way down find lot with 10+ ___, ___ and ___ kind of trees

Right (North) into alleyPleasant 10 minute walk or so downtown, 5 blocks,

Cross Pine Ave into the downtownThen check for 3 tiny yellow houses in a row on the left

Find wooden building, next to the blue- walk around it to go in the ivy-covered entrance.

12a. Get the couple's Favorite Drink:(not positive, abbr.) + (“___-_-____, The San Francisco Treat”, third word)

David's father John should be perched here

12b. Which US statesAre represented in bourbon, minus their home state?

Bonus: this restaurant specializes in what cuisine? Hint- Manos!

13. After that refreshing sip, exit heading downhill (North)At Lighthouse take a right (East)

Cross to other side of Lighthouse, go 2 blocks East to find theRoman column pictured at right

Continue East, past where one could easily get framed Next door, enter a place where PDA is OK

(Teams 1 at a time, and try to stay quiet)Find someone spicy. What's her name? Adopt her!

14. Go back to: arch. detail from photo in #13

Head downhill (North) a few steps.Find a restaurant named for salt's mate

Order: drink from plant on right +(NC license plate motto- 3rd word)

& guacamole- David's Mom will be here!

15. Exit heading downhill (North) – go one block...Oh no! A Mexican visitor got beached on their way to Alaska!

Take a photo of someone on sitting on top. Continue downhill (North)

16. PG was the location for which movie (picture at right)

Take a Right at ____ (The side of the Civil War that David's great-great-grandfather fought on.)

20. Left at 4 sticky trees with bad pruning jobTake a photo of the pink house

This is "The Most ____ House" in PG. And you just added to it!

21. Hike up two blocks to LighthouseEnter establishment at SouthWest corner

What's on the bodacious brah's board?This is the dinner stop! Enjoy.

22. Last clue... dessert!!! Exit and cross to other side of Lighthouse
