David Gerber Profile Because Travel Channel is being moved to Scripps Networks Interactive headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee, and I have declined a relocation offer, I am currently seeking new opportunities in the Washington, D.C. area. Ever since landing my first job at a small local TV station in my home town, shortly after graduating from Syracuse with a TV/Radio/Film degree, I have loved being involved in the creation of television programs. All these years later, although the business has changed in so many ways, my enthusiasm has not diminished and I can’t wait to see what comes next. I spent the first half of my career in public television, primarily at WQED Pittsburgh, where I had the honor of writing, producing, directing and editing a number of high- profile award winning programs in a variety of genres. Starting as a director handling studio and remote productions, large and small, I soon began taking on special producing assignments including many for national broadcast. Among my favorite projects were Within These Walls: A Visit to the White House, Kennedy Center Tonight, Camera Magic: Images of Nature, Real Nurses, as well Where in the World is Carmen San Diego? on which I handled post- production. The latter half of my career has been in cable television. I had the privilege of being part of the founding management team of Animal Planet at Discovery Networks, where I headed up the production department that I helped build from the ground up. That network became one of the fastest growing startups in cable history. After five successful years, I moved over to Travel Channel which, at the time, was still part of Discovery before being acquired by Cox Communications and later, Scripps. The fact that I have remained at the network through three owners and numerous management teams, I am often

The fact that I have remained at the network through three owners and numerous management teams, I am often told, is a testament to my adaptability and flexibility. While at Travel, I’ve been responsible for developing and executive producing many of the network’s longest running and highest rated programs, including Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, Mysteries at the Museum, The Dead Files and several spinoffs of those franchise series, along with many other successful projects.I have always enjoyed the chance to collaborate with creative and talented people.
