THE Howard Davis family was forced to discontinue language study in Kyoto and return to Nagoyabecause of th e unfaithfulness of the minister in charge of t he churches during their absence. Thmembers of the churches asked for his resignatioiythen complet stopped attending services until

resigned hrou^ mucla prayer and many extensive meetii^s with the preacher and the church pthe situation is being brought to a successful end. The preacher has shown true repentancejaccorto Brother Davis, and is back in Bible college. The church attendance is going up again, while thChristians are seemingly taking a renewed interest in the work of Christ here in Nagoya.

Brother Davis also wDote of their financial crisis: It was certainly wonderful to have s o manfriends In hris t come to our rescue when we found ourselves in such a dire financial situation.are now able to meet the current expenses and hope to immediately begin making payments on th eloans we took out t o p ay toward expenses to Japan and th e girls' military school tuition. Such ove

whelming debts were a new experience in the history of our work here in Japan. Through we coulsee how it could work out, we knew Christ would see us through the t rials, through you in thechurches at home. No words will express our thanks for the wonderful way in which you came toin this t ime of our need. All we can say is 'thank you from the bottom of our hearts and pray Godrichly blessed you even as e has blessed us throughyou Xr t koSciy ^ h

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ from the mission workers and Christiansin Nagoya.

The meetings at Nagashima are going very well, and in spite of some minor oppositionthey are mak ing p repress . S ince we were not ab le to rent the building we had been promisedit has been necessary to take the tent and al l th e equipment out for each Sunday service. However we hope to have on ly two or three more such tent meetings. Arrangements are now beingcompleted to lease a piece of land for a five year period upon which we can errect a temporarybuilding. Immediatly we will put up one of the Christian Service Camp buildings and then beginconstructing a suitable prefab, sectional church building that can be used until land can be purchased and a permanent block building errected. At such time the prefab building can be takendown and used to supply the need in another place.

November 13th marks th e opening classes of the Nagoya Christian Leaders Institute. Thefoundation for this tr aining p rog ram was worked out with the Chambers prior to their furlough. The primary purpose of the school is to train Christian leaders and preachers from the group ofyoung people in our churches who cannot give their full time to the ministry, but who can earntheir living by other means while ministering to the church. The school will be se t up as a nightschool to accomodate those who attend the university or work dur ing the day. Courses will consistof an intensified basic training in Bible Study and practical application to th e Japanese Church. Also the students will receive leadership t raining in such phases of the work as D. V. B. S., ChristianService Camp, and establishment and management of churches. Classes will be taught by Mr.Maruki Mr. Kubota, Howard and Kathryn Davis. Please remember this project in your prayersfor the undertaking will be great and th e results can be victory fo r Chris t here in Nagoya.

Two meetings are scheduled in October , one at the Mukojima Church established by theChambers), and the other starting October 28th, to establish another rural church near Nagashimain a much larger town. Establishing a church represents many days and weeks of labor by themission staff and the expense many times goes beyond t he amoun t of contributions. Your prayersare needed for these meetings that God will help us accomplish th e task successfully and supplythe mater ial needs.

We wish to thank all our f ai th fu l f ri end s in Christ w ho have shared in this w ork with usin such a generous way, both by prayers and by mater ia l support.Y ours in Christ
