TRANSCRIPT
Day 1 - Day 7 (cont’d) Nations in the Caribbean and South America.
Pray for:
(i) Revival in the Church in the Caribbean for the evangelization
and transformation of nations like Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago,
Guyana, and Venezuela continue to experience a high level of
violent crimes. In the case of Venezuela, street gangs and
organized crime run rampant making it one of the deadliest in
the world. Due to the economic crisis facing Venezuela roughly
4 million people have already fled the nation and more is
expected to follow.
(ii) The Governments of the region in their continued fight
against rising corruption, international drug trafficking and
international human trafficking (a $32 billion global industry);
rising unemployment due to economic declines, rising food and
fuel prices.
European Continent
Pray for:
(i) Revival in the church across Europe.
While Christianity has been steadily declining, Islam has been
growing rapidly and replacing the Christian influence. A recent
survey in the UK, for example, has found that 9 out of 10
Christians in the UK believe their faith is being marginalized.
While Islam continues to thrive in the UK and elsewhere across
Europe, the greatest threat to Christianity on the continent, how-
ever, appears to be secular humanism, which has continued to
undermine the influence of the traditional church. Pentecostal
congregations, particularly from the African and Caribbean
immigrant populations continue to experience growth, however.
Spiritual revivals are also being reported among churches in
East Germany that cater largely to Iranian refugees.
(ii) Solutions to the growing refugee crisis across Europe,
including Christian refugees facing discrimination. Recent
surveys by Open Doors found that 75% of Christian refugees
in Germany claimed to have been persecuted by fellow Muslim
refugees and security staff.
The African Continent
Pray for:
(i) The continued growth of the church in Africa and for the
revival being experienced on the continent to influence real
change and transformation of African societies. Africa's 31.1
million food-deprived masses scattered across Sudan's Darfur
region, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Uganda and elsewhere, pose a
major challenge for the continent. Despite progress in boosting
democracy, ending wars, and economic growth, Africa is the
only region in the world becoming less and less able to feed it-
self. Reasons include the relentless spread of desert and drought,
high population growth, and bad governance, and disease like
Ebola. Despite these many challenges facing the continent, how-
ever, the African church is growing rapidly in many countries.
(ii) Resolution of religious conflicts and the defeat of
terrorism threatening various African states, including
Nigeria, Somalia and Chad.
Day 1 – Day 7 (cont’d) The Middle East and Israel
Pray for:
(i) Needs of the Christian community in the Middle East
facing economic hardship and persecution.
According to a recent report, economic hardships, armed
conflict, and persecution have long been catalysts for the exodus
of Christians from the Middle East. Over the past few decades
these pressures have steadily reduced the proportion of Christians
in the Middle East from around 20 percent at the start of the 20th
century to around 5 percent now. Less than 1 percent of the
world’s more than 2 billion Christians live in the Middle East,
and there are fears that number could dwindle even further. Since
the 2011 war in Syria the Christian population has declined by
more than 50% and that in Iraq by more than 80% since the 2003
US invasion.
(ii) Solution to the Syrian refugee crisis, considered the worst
in history since the last world war. In 2016, the United Nations
(UN) identified 13.5 million Syrians requiring humanitarian
assistance, of which about 6.7 million are internally
displaced within Syria, and 6.2 million are refugees outside of
Syria. Half of those affected are children.
(iii) Peaceful solution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in keeping
with God’s plan for both Israel and the Palestinian people.
Asia, the Largest and Most Populous Continent
Asia comprises a full 30% of the world’s land area with 60% of
the world’s current population or 4.4 billion people. Asia also has
the vast majority of unreached peoples, comprising the
majority of the world’s Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists and also
over 80% of the world’s poorest people.
Pray for:
(i) The church, its leaders and organizations, will network
together to fulfill the Great Commission.
(ii) The continued growth of China’s church movement and
for its impact on the rest of Asia.
(iii) Unity of Christians in China, Korea and Japan for the
revival of North East Asia and the whole of Asia.
(iv) Protection and Greater freedom for Christians in North
Korea, where the government views Christianity as the number
one enemy of the state. An estimated 300,000 live in North Korea
of which 50,000 are serving harsh prison terms in concentration
camps for their faith in Christ.

From Rev. Newton Gabbidon, IPMI’s President
Welcome to the 2019 Annual Twenty-
one Days of Prayer and Fasting for
Breakthroughs, a program specially
designed for members of the Body of
Christ who are desirous of participating
in a concerted time of prayer, focusing
not only on personal needs but also on
major issues of concern to the Christian
community here in America and around
the world. We trust that you will find this
guide helpful as you engage with us during this important time
of prayer and fasting.
If this will be your first time fasting or participating in an
extended time of fasting and prayer, we would strongly
encourage you to acquaint yourself with the discipline of fast-
ing by reading the article entitled, “Fasting, A Vital Key to
Effective Prayer and Victorious Christian Living,” prior to
participating. The article is available online on PMI's website.
The Word of God is one of the believer's most potent offen-
sive weapons of spiritual warfare (Eph. 6: 17). According to
the Scriptures Satan can be defeated if believers stand on
God’s words. By declaring the word of God in our prayers
we can overcome his attacks not only against us, but also
against our loved ones, communities, cities, and nations (Mat
4: 3—11; Eph. 6: 2 Cor. 10: 3-4;). We trust, therefore, that
you will find the numerous Scriptures a valuable reference
both for meditation and prayer as you engage in the time of
fasting and prayer.
Another vital weapon of spiritual warfare is united prayer. In
fact, it is the most powerful of all the weapons that God has
committed to us (Matt 18:18-19; Acts 4; Acts 12:1-24). That
is why we are extending a special invitation to participants to
join us for the Oct. 12 Annual Global Prayer Summit. After
all, what better way to culminate this powerful time of prayer
and fasting than to join us for this significant conference?
Other opportunities to join in united concerted prayer during
the twenty one days of prayer and fasting, include the Sept.
28, Monthly Prayer Gathering at the New York Hilton, JFK
and the Oct. 3—5, Monthly Global Prayer Teleconferences,
facilitated by leaders of the prayer movement from various
nations around the world. For more information on how to
participate in these prayer meetings, please visit our website.

Your local Church and Other Churches in Your
Community, City, State and Nation:
Pray for:
(i) Pastors and their families, for spiritual guidance,
strength, encouragement and for God’s provision. It is
estimated that at any time 75% of pastors in the US want to
quit. Of the hundreds that leave the ministry each year, they
do so because of moral failure, spiritual burnout, or
contention in their churches.
(ii) The establishment of the local church as the house of
prayer for the evangelization and transformation of commu-
nities and cities plagued by corruption, drugs, gang violence,
unemployment and other social ills (Ps. 127:1).
DAY 1 – DAY 7 (CONT’D) (iii) City, State and National Government officials, law enforce-
ment officials; God’s protection of our cities and nations from
acts of terrorism. (1Tim. 2: 1–6).
The United States of America:
1. The US Government
Pray for:
(i) President Donald Trump and his family; all members of his
Cabinet and White House staff, for their safety, protection, and
wisdom to govern the country justly and in the fear of God.
(ii) the love, peace, and unity of God to permeate all areas of
our deeply divided US Government to facilitate healing and
reconciliation in all sectors of American life.
(iii) Solutions to US immigration problems, including the
growing crisis at the US southern border.
(iv) US 2020 Presidential and Congressional Elections.
2. The Church
Pray for:
Revival in the church across America.
Consider these four critical issues as you pray:
(i) Current rates of retention and evangelism. It’s estimated
that 42 million young people could leave the church by 2050.
That is over one million young people walking away from the
church each year. If, however, we can revert to Gen X rates of
retention and evangelism, that number can be reduced to only
20 million. It is also estimated that 176,000 churches could close
by 2050 in the US if the trend continues.
(ii) Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US.
47,173 Americans committed suicide in 2017, but there were
an estimated 1,4000,000 suicide attempts in the year. In 2015
suicide and self-inflicted injuries cost the Federal Government
$69 billion. But the sad news is that the suicide rate is trending
upwards, an indication of the high level of hopelessness
permeating every sector of American culture.
(iii) More than 61 million abortions have been performed in
the United States since 1973 when the U.S. Supreme Court's
Roe v. Wade decision made the procedure legal. For the same
period, the number of abortions committed worldwide is
estimated at 16 million. Fewer U.S. women are having abortions
than at any time since Roe v. Wade, according to new
government figures. In 2015, the most recent year for which
data is available, a total of 638,169 abortions were reported, a
decrease of 2 percent from 652,639 abortions in 2014. New
York Governor signed into law a recent bill expanding abortions
rights, legalizing later terms abortions.
(iv) God’s healing of the US, a morally decadent and deeply
divided nation. “America’s ills are not the result of racism or
corruption, although these are evil. Our troubles can also be
traced directly to ineffective Christians. As Christians, we must
take authority and pray over the principalities and powers that
are at work in our nation, in the lives of those who are calling
for violence or who are perpetuating violence” (Tony Evans).
