DAY SEVEN Morning and afternoon game drives feature the best of the The Great Migration. From December to early March, huge herds of migrating wildebeests, Cape Buffalos, and zebras find new grazing lands; and thousands of newborns arrive. The sheer number of newborns is nature’s way to ensure the survival of the species as predators lie in wait for the unsuspecting, ill, and injured. (Ndutu Lodge Tented Camp) DAY EIGHT We visit a Maasai village to learn of the culture of the semi-nomadic people that call this land home. We travel to the stunning Ngorogoro Crater, one of the most beautiful wildlife havens remaining on earth. After checking into our hotel for two nights, the afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the fabulous views from the crater rim. (Ngorogoro Serena Lodge) DAY NINE We descend 2,000 feet onto the floor of this extinct volcano for spectacular views of wildlife. The crater is home to many types of animals and birds, including pink flamingos. We look for “the big five”–lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalos, and leopards–as well as hyenas. DAY TEN We visit a local school and Gibbs Farm, an operating farm and coffee plantation. After lunch and a guided tour, we arrive at our hotel. (Serena Mountain Village) DAY ELEVEN We relax in the comfort of our lodge before bidding farewell to Africa as we board our evening flight for home. TWELVE spectacular

DAYS!

DAY ONE Our motor coach transfers us from Dubuque to Chicago to board our first flight to east Africa.

DAY TWO

DAY THREE

DAY FOUR

DAY FIVE The highlight is the Serengeti, which means “endless plains” and features wide-open spaces and diverse wildlife. Predators and prey wander in the never-ending struggle for life. Optional hot-air balloon rides are available.

DAY SIX

Travel continues with a connecting flight to Kilimanjaro Airport. We arrive at our Mt. Kilimanjaro lodge hotel for a late, included dinner. (Serena Mountain Village)

Spectacular scenery surrounds us during Kilimanjaro sightseeing as we travel to Lake Manyara. We participate in a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, noted for elephant herds and tree-climbing lions. We check into the Serena Lake Manyara Lodge with views of the Great Rift Valley.

Serengeti bound, we drive through the Ngorogoro conservation area and visit Olduvai Gorge, where Mary Leakey discovered the remains of prehistoric man and the oldest-known human footprints in Africa. We continue on the Serengeti in search of great migrating herds and arrive at the Serengeti Serena Lodge, our home for three nights.

The African sky and majestic landscape provide the background as we travel to Lake Ndutu. We take a game drive among the herds before sunset or relax and enjoy our lodge’s amenities.
