Past, present and future

Since the early sixties this customer-first philosophy hasbeen enshrined in all our activities. Blended withmanufacturing experience and practical expertise honedover almost half a century, it has seen Naco defineeverything from metal and glass louvres, natural air andsmoke ventilators to mist separators, sunscreens andbrise soleil.It even instigated a no-nonsense software program on ourwebsite to take the hassle out of sizing louvres andunscrambling such things as face, jet or core velocitiesand free areas.

Extreme weather conditions 50 mph (202 mm/h) wind and 203mm per hour rain conditions

1. Core area is the open area of the louvre face (face area lesslouvre frames). Core Velocity is the airflow velocity through thecore area of the louvre (1m x 1m).

4. Entry/Discharge Loss Class 2 Discharge Loss Coefficient is calculated by dividing a louvre’sactual airflow rate vs. a theoretical airflow for the opening. Itprovides an indication of the louvres’ airflow characteristics.

5. The AMCA Wind Driven Rain Test is performed in a laboratoryenvironment and incorporates controlled wind, water and systemairflow effects. In actual field installations, storms may createconditions not considered by the AMCA test. Penthouse and similarapplications where wind can pass through multiple louvres in anenclosure is another condition that is not simulated by AMCA tests.These applications can create elevated water penetration ratesthrough any louvre. Because of these uncontrolled situations, it isrecommended that provisions to manage water penetrationthrough louvres be included in the building design.
