Database Appliance

An appliance with hardware and software in an integrated solution specifically pre-installed and pre-optimized for database workloads

Tier-1 Appliance Large Enterprise Mission Critical Workloads

Outages have direct revenue impact, application or server cannot be down OR needs to recover rapidly, unlikely to allow for even scheduled downtime

Tier-2 Appliance Small to Medium Enterprise Workloads

All the non-Tier-1 applications or application components that you care about. Planned downtime is acceptable, recovery needs to be timely not instant.
