Dear Students

A hearty welcome to DBS PG College!

Established by DAV College Trust and Management Society [later renamed as Dayanand Siksha Sansthan] in July 1961, the college is now entering into the

fifty seventh year with its mandate of providing best quality education as Centre of Excellence in academics. The College is offering Under Graduate and Postgraduate Courses to a diverse group of students with very high merit. Besides, the College also offers PhD courses under HNB Garhwal Central University in some of the Departments and is a prominent research centre.The College has always been known for its academic excellence. Our Alumni ranging from scientists, policy analyst academicians, IAS etc are the brand ambassadors of our college.

The college has 15 Departments with 11 of them offering post graduate courses with 03 Departments successfully completing 50 years of post graduate teaching. The College has a very dynamic and capable faculty with good academic and research profile. The College flaunts its state of the art facilities in various departments viz. the department of Geology has first rate geotechnical lab, Geography department hosts an earth science lab with all facilities for GIS and remote sensing work, department of Chemistry has very advanced setup of high performance liquid Chromotograph and FTIR, department of Physics houses modern laser lab, and Potentiostat and Department of English uses computer controlled phonetic equipments for teaching English with typical international accent. Inspite of series of responsibilities bestowed upon the faculty, research activities are conducted at all prescribed level. Every year as per rough estimates about 15 research papers are published in national and international journals and six to seven students get doctoral degrees. The faculty has been awarded a number of extra-mural research grants by various funding agencies like UGC, ICSSR , DST, UCOST, Govt. of Uttarakhand, Planning Department etc from time to time.Over 220 students of this college are receiving INSPIRE Scholarship from DST of 80,000/- per annum .There are provisions of many other scholarships as well. The college grabs merit position in the University examination every year in many Departments and has a good record of students who clear the NET and GATE examination.

The NSS wing of the college with one boys unit and two girls unit is very dynamic under capable programme officers. The college is known for Sports Activities and Cultural and Literary activities at the State Level. The lively NCC Wing , Rovers and Rangers with active officers gives a huge opportunity to the students for co-curricular activities and service to the nation.

The college has the status of Centre of Potential for Excellence[CPE] as bestowed upon by UGC for the XII Plan Period. We have been adjudged as Best Higher Educational Institution in Uttarakhand among the non technical institutions.

A small step in 1961 has turned out a long leap in these 57 years and the name of the college itself is a brand in the list of educational institutions of higher learning in northern India.

5. The NSS boys and girls wing participated in Visaka (Digitization of India) Programme of Ministry of HRD and conducted awareness programme on demonetization and trained people about online transaction.

intercollegiate competition of HNB Garhwal Central University.

10. The college hosted the first intercollegiate cultural programme of Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University in which our college lifted the shield in literary activities and remained runner-up in cultural activities.

The admission of a student can be cancelled at any time by the Principal in case it is detected that the student had given wrong information, concealed the facts or admission has been made against the norms.Please follow the following instructions:

Ü For Admission in B.Sc. Ist & B.A. Ist attach scanned copies of mark sheet of qualifying examination, (+12), photo and certificates likely to earn weightage points.

Ü For Admission in M.Sc. I and M.A. I Geography attach all scanned copy of mark sheets of B.A. /B.Sc. Ist, IInd & IIIrd years/all semesters, photo and certificates likely to earn weightage points.

Ü For admission in reserve category, attach copy of caste certificate.

Ü For photo and candidate's signature, image should not be larger than 5 KB and for other documents 500 KB.

Ü For Admission in B.Sc I, the academic merit will be calculated by taking into consideration the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, & Mathematics in Mathematics Group and of Physics, Chemistry & Biology in Bio Group respectively in qualifying examination. Fill separate Merit form for each group

Ü ForAdmission in B.A.I the academic merit will be calculated by taking into consideration the marks obtained in best five subjects in qualifying examination.

Ü The reservation policy of State Government of Uttarakhand will be followed for admission.

Ü Students should not disclose their password and user ID

Ü The candidate will have one time o p p o r t u n i t y t o m o d i f y h i s / h e r merit/admission form before the notified last date by using password and user id.

Instruction for submission of Merit /Admission form before the Admission

Committee

Merit listed candidate may get admission on satisfaction of Admission Committee after counseling. The candidate will have to deposit fee on the same day otherwise his/her right of admission will be forfeited.

A candidate has to:

Ü Produce all the required documents in original before the Admission Committee.

Ü Also produce downloaded copy of the Admission / Merit form along with directory, Undertaking for Curbing the Menace of Ragging (Antiragging) and Police Verification Certificate duly signed by the candidate and parents.

Ü Attach Original Transfer Certificate (TC) and Character Certificate (CC) from the institution last attended.

Ü Attach photocopies of the qualifying examination, High School (Date of birth) Certificate. Photocopies of other documents likely to earn weightage points, Caste Certificate( wherever apply)

Ü Attach an affidavit for gap year in case the candidate has a gap in last qualifying exam and the class in which seeking the admission.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONSFOR ADMISSION

General Instruction for filling Online Merit /Admission Form for Registration

College will follow rules and regulations as framed by University and orders of Government of Uttarakhand for admission.

1. College Provides reservation of seats to candidates of eligible categories as per quota fixed by the Government of Uttarakhand. At present 19%, 4% and 14% seats are reserved for SC, ST and OBC categories respectively. There is also a provision for horizontal reservation of 30%, 5%, 3% and 2% for women, defense personal and/or their dependents, physically handicapped, dependent of freedom fighters respectively. In case of OBC, candidates are required to produce non-creamy layer certificate of their parents of preceding financial year. For regular courses 90% of seats in the college are reserved for candidates of Uttarakhand and 10% for other states.

2. The fractional rounding shall not be admissible for calculating the minimum eligibility criteria i.e. 44.9% or 39.9% shall not be treated as 45% or 40%.

3. The candidates belonging to SC/ST category shall be allowed a relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility criteria or minimum cut off.

4. The students will also be eligible for admission in under graduate classes who have passed Madhyama of Sahity Sammelan, 12, Sammalen Marg, Allahabad and plus two examination from Open School with five Subjects.

5. Applicants who might have appeared in Compartment/Supplementary Examination may apply for admission. However, such applicants shall be considered for admission, subject to their clearing the Compartment/ supplementary Examination, only if they had submitted their Admission-Forms well in time and if their final result might have been declared before preparing final merit list for admission.

6. For gap year, the candidate has to produce an affidavit while seeking admission in higher class.

7. Every candidate is required to submit an undertaking before admission committee signed by their guardian in prescribed form stating that they would not indulge in ragging.

8. Each student will have also to fill Police Verification form in the prescribed format.

9. Students admitted to the College may avail the facility of studying as regular students for a maximum of six (06) years at the under-graduate level and for four (04) years at the post-graduate level.

10. Applicants will not be granted admission to the same class as might have been passed by them even with a change in Subject(s) studies or School. This means, that a student who has passed B.Sc. will not be granted admission to B.Sc. with a different combination of subject or B.A. and an applicant who may have passed M.A. in one subject will not be granted admission to M.A. in another subject or M.Sc.

11. The candidate, who have been detained or failed in a class or drop out, shall not be granted regular admission. Such candidate can appear as ex-students in the university examination.

12. Applicants who have been punished for adopting unfair means at an examination or have been convicted by a court of law for a crime committed by them or have been expelled/rusticated by the Colleges/University or have been found to be guilty of indulging in ragging in the institution(s) attended by them, prior to seeking admission to the college, shall not be granted admission.

13. Students indulging in activities in the Campus considered to be improper, or unwarranted, or amounting to breach of discipline, or a violation of the Rules and Regulations of the College in the opinion of the Administration/Proctorial Board shall be liable for being expelled/rusticated, or at least being denied admission in the next Academic Session.

Merit listed candidate may get admission on satisfaction of Admission Committee after counseling. The candidate will have to deposit fee on the same day otherwise his/her right of admission will be forfeited.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONSFOR ADMISSION

General Instruction for filling Online Merit /Admission Form for Registration

College will follow rules and regulations as framed by University and orders of Government of Uttarakhand for admission.

1. College Provides reservation of seats to candidates of eligible categories as per quota fixed by the Government of Uttarakhand. At present 19%, 4% and 14% seats are reserved for SC, ST and OBC categories respectively. There is also a provision for horizontal reservation of 30%, 5%, 3% and 2% for women, defense personal and/or their dependents, physically handicapped, dependent of freedom fighters respectively. In case of OBC, candidates are required to produce non-creamy layer certificate of their parents of preceding financial year. For regular courses 90% of seats in the college are reserved for candidates of Uttarakhand and 10% for other states.

2. The fractional rounding shall not be admissible for calculating the minimum eligibility criteria i.e. 44.9% or 39.9% shall not be treated as 45% or 40%.

3. The candidates belonging to SC/ST category shall be allowed a relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility criteria or minimum cut off.

4. The students will also be eligible for admission in under graduate classes who have passed Madhyama of Sahity Sammelan, 12, Sammalen Marg, Allahabad and plus two examination from Open School with five Subjects.

5. Applicants who might have appeared in Compartment/Supplementary Examination may apply for admission. However, such applicants shall be considered for admission, subject to their clearing the Compartment/ supplementary Examination, only if they had submitted their Admission-Forms well in time and if their final result might have been declared before preparing final merit list for admission.

6. For gap year, the candidate has to produce an affidavit while seeking admission in higher class.

7. Every candidate is required to submit an undertaking before admission committee signed by their guardian in prescribed form stating that they would not indulge in ragging.

8. Each student will have also to fill Police Verification form in the prescribed format.

9. Students admitted to the College may avail the facility of studying as regular students for a maximum of six (06) years at the under-graduate level and for four (04) years at the post-graduate level.

10. Applicants will not be granted admission to the same class as might have been passed by them even with a change in Subject(s) studies or School. This means, that a student who has passed B.Sc. will not be granted admission to B.Sc. with a different combination of subject or B.A. and an applicant who may have passed M.A. in one subject will not be granted admission to M.A. in another subject or M.Sc.

11. The candidate, who have been detained or failed in a class or drop out, shall not be granted regular admission. Such candidate can appear as ex-students in the university examination.

12. Applicants who have been punished for adopting unfair means at an examination or have been convicted by a court of law for a crime committed by them or have been expelled/rusticated by the Colleges/University or have been found to be guilty of indulging in ragging in the institution(s) attended by them, prior to seeking admission to the college, shall not be granted admission.

13. Students indulging in activities in the Campus considered to be improper, or unwarranted, or amounting to breach of discipline, or a violation of the Rules and Regulations of the College in the opinion of the Administration/Proctorial Board shall be liable for being expelled/rusticated, or at least being denied admission in the next Academic Session.

Attendance Rules

It is mandatory for a student of a Course / Programme of the University to put in 75% attendance in all classes including Lectures, Tutorials and Practical's (wherever applicable) in respect of each subject/paper separately. Students failing in meeting aforesaid Minimum attendance Criteria shall not be permitted to appear in the Annual/ Semester Examination for the course being pursued during the Academic Session concerned.

A student may be granted relaxation up to 15% in the minimum attendance criteria prescribed under the following circumstances:

1. If a student had suffered from serious illness, submits medical certificate issued in respect of the same by a registered medi cal practitioner within 15 days of resuming classes.

2. Any other grievous circumstances suffered by a student which might in the opinion of the officer concerned constitute sufficient grounds for granting such relaxation subject to the production of appropriate evidence.

In addition to the above, all students shall be entitled to the relaxation of the minimum attendance with respect to the following to the extent stated.

i) By the department concerned and a certificate of attendance and completion of the assignment issued by the competent authority of the Institution attended

ii) If a student might have participated in N.C.C. Camps, N.S.S. Camps, educational tours organized by the col lege, represented the University in sports /

cultural events, or appeared for an interview for recruitment in the Indian armed forces. The relaxation is restricted to the actual number of days of the said events and reasonable travel time may be allowed upon production of a certificate to the said effect, duly issued by the competent authority within one week of resuming classes.

It shall be open to the Dean and Principal on recomm-endation of Head of the Department to grant exemption to a candidate who has failed to obtain the prescribed 75% attendance for valid reasons on payment of prescribed fee and such exemptions shall not under any circumstances be granted for attendance below 60%.

University Examination and PromotionsThe university examination schedule and rules of promotions as prescribed by the HNB Garhwal University will be applicable. Students are required t o fill online university examination forms and deposit their hard copies in the college office as per schedule of the university.

InternalAssessment (Sessionals)

There will be two Sessional tests and one end-semester examination for PG Students and one sessional test and one end-semester examination for UG students.

For PG students 40% of the total marks in each paper will be reserved for internal assessment and 30% for UG students. Students shall compulsorily attend the Sessional tests, failing which they will not be allowed to appear in the end term examination. The Sessional test as part of the continuous internal assessment shall be conducted and evaluated by the teacher offering the course.

Attendance Rules

It is mandatory for a student of a Course / Programme of the University to put in 75% attendance in all classes including Lectures, Tutorials and Practical's (wherever applicable) in respect of each subject/paper separately. Students failing in meeting aforesaid Minimum attendance Criteria shall not be permitted to appear in the Annual/ Semester Examination for the course being pursued during the Academic Session concerned.

A student may be granted relaxation up to 15% in the minimum attendance criteria prescribed under the following circumstances:

1. If a student had suffered from serious illness, submits medical certificate issued in respect of the same by a registered medi cal practitioner within 15 days of resuming classes.

2. Any other grievous circumstances suffered by a student which might in the opinion of the officer concerned constitute sufficient grounds for granting such relaxation subject to the production of appropriate evidence.

In addition to the above, all students shall be entitled to the relaxation of the minimum attendance with respect to the following to the extent stated.

i) By the department concerned and a certificate of attendance and completion of the assignment issued by the competent authority of the Institution attended

ii) If a student might have participated in N.C.C. Camps, N.S.S. Camps, educational tours organized by the col lege, represented the University in sports /

cultural events, or appeared for an interview for recruitment in the Indian armed forces. The relaxation is restricted to the actual number of days of the said events and reasonable travel time may be allowed upon production of a certificate to the said effect, duly issued by the competent authority within one week of resuming classes.

It shall be open to the Dean and Principal on recomm-endation of Head of the Department to grant exemption to a candidate who has failed to obtain the prescribed 75% attendance for valid reasons on payment of prescribed fee and such exemptions shall not under any circumstances be granted for attendance below 60%.

University Examination and PromotionsThe university examination schedule and rules of promotions as prescribed by the HNB Garhwal University will be applicable. Students are required t o fill online university examination forms and deposit their hard copies in the college office as per schedule of the university.

InternalAssessment (Sessionals)

There will be two Sessional tests and one end-semester examination for PG Students and one sessional test and one end-semester examination for UG students.

For PG students 40% of the total marks in each paper will be reserved for internal assessment and 30% for UG students. Students shall compulsorily attend the Sessional tests, failing which they will not be allowed to appear in the end term examination. The Sessional test as part of the continuous internal assessment shall be conducted and evaluated by the teacher offering the course.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT

A candidate who fails to put in at least 75%

cease to be a regular student.

However, he/she may appear as an ex-student

only in end semester examination of the

course (s) in which he/she has failed, at the

next semester examination of the subject and

subject to permission by the Academic

Council/DSW. A candidate who thus having

ceased to be a regular student, acquires the

minimum number of credits for promotion to III

semesters, shall re - register himself/ herself

as a regular student for appearing at the

examination of III semester. Provided that are

regular candidate who having fulfilled the

minimum attendance requirement, fails to

secure the required number of 18 credits for PG

22 credits of UG promotion to the III semester

may apply for re-registration as a regular

student in the I or/and II semester. He/she

shall have to

fulfill the attendance requirement afresh and

sha l l again complete a l l semester

assignments, sessional examination and

practical and shall appear in the End Semester

Examination of all the courses at the next

examination of I and II semesters.

Any marks obtained in the immediate

preceding year and

the attendance shall be disregarded.

However no candidate shall be permitted to

continue as a regular student for more than

two times in a semester.

For UG students the criterions are same as mentioned above for PG Students. Each Semester is of 22 Credits. Students who acquire 22 credits in I& II Semester taken together will be promoted to III semester. For promotion to V Semester the backlog of credits till IV semester should not be more than 22 credits.

Partial or full fee concession may be granted to economically weak students. Application for fee concessi- on must be submitted on the prescribed Form obtainable from the College Office, duly supported by income certificate issued by the competent authority. The application complete in all respects must be submitted to the college office, latest by end of August in the year.

Fee concession granted is subject to good conduct, regular attendance and satisfactory progress in studies and may be withdrawn any time if a student is found neglecting any of these.

All forms will be available from the college office free of charge. In addition to the above concessions, ad-hoc grants may be given from "Student Aid Fund". Students desiring to avail this aid must contact the Dean Students Welfare.

State Government

A) The Code of Conduct

The college expects its students to conduct

themselves in a disciplined and dignified

manner in the college and outside. All students

are expected to abide by rules to maintain an

academic and healthy environment in the

college.

The students will have to follow Dress Code of

the college and regularly participate in singing

of National Anthem and National Song.

A student will be liable for disciplinary action

for violation of any rule of discipline. Students

must maintain discipline and decorum in the

college.

Mobile phones are not to be used in the college

premises. Mobile phones will be confiscated if

used in the college or classrooms during study

hours. During free time students should not

roam around in the corridors or sit here and

there. They are advised to use Girls Common

room, Library, Canteen and Playground during

free time. Writing of graffiti on the walls and

pasting of posters is strictly prohibited and

defaulters will be fined. Students must

cooperate in maintaining cleanliness in the

College premises including the toilets. All

waste material should be thrown in the

dustbins. Students should help in conserving

energy by turning off fans and lights when not

in use.For the purpose of intimating students about

various college matters, notices are displayed

on the student notice boards. Students must

see the notice boards daily.

B) Curbing Indiscipline and

Misconduct by Students

The Following acts on the part of students,

individually, or in a group of two or more

students or persons shall amount to

indiscipline and misconduct.

1. Physical assault, threat to use Physical

force or any other intimidating behavior,

within the premises of the college against

any teacher, officer, functionary, member of

any nonteaching staff, or student of any

such institution or unit, or a visitor present

on official institution or for administrative

or academic work in such premise.

2. Causing disruption or disturbance in any

manner in the teaching and other

academic work, the working of Libraries,

Laboratories, facilities and amenities,

admission and examination processes,

administrative working and in any

institution of the University system or any

unit of such institution.

3. Any act or statement, or distribution or

display of any document or literature,

including the circulars, pamphlets,

posters, press releases etc. which

adversely affects the public image of any

institution of the University system or of

any unit thereof or of any individual

belonging to or associated with such

institution or unit.

4. The possession and distribution of

objectionable goods or materials.

5. Any act that creates or tends to create ill-

will between groups of persons or

promotes intolerance on religious, social,

regional or linguistic grounds.

6. Any act in violation of the provision of the

statutes, the ordinance or the Regulations

of the University or of the rules made there

under.

7. The possession, display, use or threat of

any weapon.8. Any act that interferes with the personal

liberty of another person or subjects other

persons to indignity or involves physical

violence or use of abusive language.

9. Any violation of the provisions of the Civil

rights Protection Act 1976.

10. Any violation of the status, dignity and

honor of students belonging to the

Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled

Tribes.

11. Any act or practice whether verbal or

otherwise that is derogatory of women

amounts to sexual harassment.

12. The making of false statements or the

submission of false documents.

13. The use of the title of the College or of any

institution of the University system or of

any unit of such institution, for any

organization or event or in any

communication or representation without

entitlement to such use or for purposes not

specifically authorized by the concerned

institution or unit.

14. Any attempt at bribary or recourse to any

corrupt practice in any manner.

15. Any act that causes any loss, destruction of

the property of the college or of any unit.

16. Any act amounting to any unauthorized

presence in or entry or trespass into

specified areas.

17. Any act that causes, encourages or implies

the interference of outside persons,

organization or authority in the functioning

of the college or of any unit

18. Unauthorized collection of funds.

19. Possession distribution or consumption of

alcoholics drinks, intoxicants, narcotic

drugs and other psychotropic sub-stances

and presence in the premises of the college

after any such consumption.

20. Any act involving moral ruin.

21. Any other act that is in the opinion of the

officers or functionaries of the college or of

any unit, unbecoming of a student;

22. Any act of resorting to or abetting ragging

as defined in the Act.

23. Students shall avoid using cell phone in the

campus while listening to music and

sharing visuals on cell phones or other

electronic devices in the campus is strictly

prohibited .

C) UGC Regulations on Curbing

the Menace of Ragging.

In view of the UGC Draft regulations 2009 and

Supreme Court of India's letter No. 370/04/XIA

dated 26 February, 2009 and March 17, 2009 the

following provisions have been made by the

University to curb ragging effectively in its

campuses.

1. Ragging means the following:- Any

disorderly conduct whether by words

spoken or written or by an act which has

the effect of teasing, treating or handling

with rudeness any other student,

indulging in rowdy or undisciplined

activities which causes or is likely to cause

embarrassment, annoyance, hardship or

psychological harm or to raise fear or

apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior

student or asking the students to do any

act or perform something which such

students will not in the ordinary course do

or perform and which has the effect of

causing or generation a scene of shame or

so as to adversely affect the physique or

psyche of a fresher or a junior student any

of the above acts committed by any

student of the same or junior or senior class

shall be deemed to be ragging.

2. Punishable ingredients of ragging :-

Abetment to ragging. Criminal conspiracy

to rag Unlawful assembly and noting while

ragging Public nuance created during

ragging. Violation of decency and morals

through ragging. Causing bodily harm, or

injury or grievous injury, Wrongful

restraint, Wrongful confinement; Use of

criminal force; Attempts to commit any or

all of the above mentioned offences against

the victims(s).

3. Punishment: Depending upon the nature

and gravity of the offence as established by

the Anti Ragging Committee of the

Institution, the possible punishment for

7. The possession, display, use or threat of

any weapon.8. Any act that interferes with the personal

liberty of another person or subjects other

persons to indignity or involves physical

violence or use of abusive language.

9. Any violation of the provisions of the Civil

rights Protection Act 1976.

10. Any violation of the status, dignity and

honor of students belonging to the

Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled

Tribes.

11. Any act or practice whether verbal or

otherwise that is derogatory of women

amounts to sexual harassment.

12. The making of false statements or the

submission of false documents.

13. The use of the title of the College or of any

institution of the University system or of

any unit of such institution, for any

organization or event or in any

communication or representation without

entitlement to such use or for purposes not

specifically authorized by the concerned

institution or unit.

14. Any attempt at bribary or recourse to any

corrupt practice in any manner.

15. Any act that causes any loss, destruction of

the property of the college or of any unit.

16. Any act amounting to any unauthorized

presence in or entry or trespass into

specified areas.

17. Any act that causes, encourages or implies

the interference of outside persons,

organization or authority in the functioning

of the college or of any unit

18. Unauthorized collection of funds.

19. Possession distribution or consumption of

alcoholics drinks, intoxicants, narcotic

drugs and other psychotropic sub-stances

and presence in the premises of the college

after any such consumption.

20. Any act involving moral ruin.

21. Any other act that is in the opinion of the

officers or functionaries of the college or of

any unit, unbecoming of a student;

22. Any act of resorting to or abetting ragging

as defined in the Act.

23. Students shall avoid using cell phone in the

campus while listening to music and

sharing visuals on cell phones or other

electronic devices in the campus is strictly

prohibited .

C) UGC Regulations on Curbing

the Menace of Ragging.

In view of the UGC Draft regulations 2009 and

Supreme Court of India's letter No. 370/04/XIA

dated 26 February, 2009 and March 17, 2009 the

following provisions have been made by the

University to curb ragging effectively in its

campuses.

1. Ragging means the following:- Any

disorderly conduct whether by words

spoken or written or by an act which has

the effect of teasing, treating or handling

with rudeness any other student,

indulging in rowdy or undisciplined

activities which causes or is likely to cause

embarrassment, annoyance, hardship or

psychological harm or to raise fear or

apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior

student or asking the students to do any

act or perform something which such

students will not in the ordinary course do

or perform and which has the effect of

causing or generation a scene of shame or

so as to adversely affect the physique or

psyche of a fresher or a junior student any

of the above acts committed by any

student of the same or junior or senior class

shall be deemed to be ragging.

2. Punishable ingredients of ragging :-

Abetment to ragging. Criminal conspiracy

to rag Unlawful assembly and noting while

ragging Public nuance created during

ragging. Violation of decency and morals

through ragging. Causing bodily harm, or

injury or grievous injury, Wrongful

restraint, Wrongful confinement; Use of

criminal force; Attempts to commit any or

all of the above mentioned offences against

the victims(s).

3. Punishment: Depending upon the nature

and gravity of the offence as established by

the Anti Ragging Committee of the

Institution, the possible punishment for

those found guilty of ragging at the

institutional level; shall be any one or the

combination of the following:

Only those students who put in 120 hours of social work every year under routine activities for two years and attend at least one special camp are eligible for NSS Certificate.

National Cadet Corps

(N.C.C.) NCC Training is imparted to our Boys and Girls students. Both units are working under State Directorate of Uttarakhand with its controlling units 29 UK BN and 11 UK BN. Male and Female students of undergraduate classes may join NCC. Further information regarding seats etc. may be obtained from the concerned ANOs.

Rovers and Rangers: Rover and Rangers units are also active in the college for training of students in different personality development traits. The units are working under Bharat Scout and Guides organization, India. Students should contact the Rover and Ranger Leaders for registration etc.

Sports

The College has an independent department of Physical Education, headed by an Asso. Professor to look after sports and games. Basketball and Volleyball courts, Table-Tennis hall, playground for Cricket, Football, Kabbadi and Hockey are available along with other basic facilities for sports.

The college had organized University Athletics Meet, Cricket Tournament and Boxing Tournament in the past. Books on various sports and games are available to students in the Physical Education Department.

College is also recipient of different grants from the Department of Sports, MHRD, Govt. of India for development of sports related infrastructure in college.

Periodicals, Directories, Encyclopedias, which might be difficult to replace and other such work as may be declared reference books by the Librarian shall not be issued to the member students.

The Department was upgraded to P.G. level in 1969 with specialization in Solid State Physics. In 1981. the electronics lab was started and specialization in Electronics was granted by HNB Garhwal University. In 1994, DST-FIST Grant was sanctioned to start a Laser & Photonics and Computer Laboratories. The Sociology Department started new teaching methods to improve student learning like audio visual presentations, mini projects and assignments, remedial classes for slow learners, participation in ISR [Institutional Social Responsibility] and extensive activities.

1. The fee for all classes will be charged in a single installment at the time of

admission through bank Challan duly signed by in-charge admission

Committee. Cheques or Bank Drafts are not acceptable.

2. Fee once paid is not refundable. However if a student wants to cancel his

/her admission within a fortnight from the date of admission the fee will be

refunded after deducting a processing fee of Rs.500/- for regular courses

and Rs. 2000/- for professional courses.

3. A fee of Rs. 250/- will be charged, if a student seeks re -admission at UG

level and 500/- at. P.G. level respectively.

4. All students shall pay University Examination fee along with College fees at

the time of admission.

5. The students seeking admission in MA/M.Sc. IIIrd Semester have to fill

fresh admission forms along with requisite fee after the end of MA/MSc IInd

semester examination and similarly the students for BA/B.Sc III and V

Semesters. Re-registration is compulsory to study in all even semesters i.e.

II,IV and VI Semesters.

6. Ex-students desirous of attending the classes will have to pay Rs. 800/- for

practical and Rs. 600/- theory Classes. Students opting dissertation at PG

level have to pay Dissertation fee of Rs. 200/-

7. The outside students seeking admission in higher semesters in the college

will have to deposit Rs. 500/- in addition to the fee prescribed for

corresponding I Semester given in Fee Structure table alongwith additional

University fees.

8. FEE STRUCTURE FOR RESEARCH STUDENTS

At the time of admission a research students will have to deposit a fee of

1. The fee for all classes will be charged in a single installment at the time of

admission through bank Challan duly signed by in-charge admission

Committee. Cheques or Bank Drafts are not acceptable.

2. Fee once paid is not refundable. However if a student wants to cancel his

/her admission within a fortnight from the date of admission the fee will be

refunded after deducting a processing fee of Rs.500/- for regular courses

and Rs. 2000/- for professional courses.

3. A fee of Rs. 250/- will be charged, if a student seeks re -admission at UG

level and 500/- at. P.G. level respectively.

4. All students shall pay University Examination fee along with College fees at

the time of admission.

5. The students seeking admission in MA/M.Sc. IIIrd Semester have to fill

fresh admission forms along with requisite fee after the end of MA/MSc IInd

semester examination and similarly the students for BA/B.Sc III and V

Semesters. Re-registration is compulsory to study in all even semesters i.e.

II,IV and VI Semesters.

6. Ex-students desirous of attending the classes will have to pay Rs. 800/- for

practical and Rs. 600/- theory Classes. Students opting dissertation at PG

level have to pay Dissertation fee of Rs. 200/-

7. The outside students seeking admission in higher semesters in the college

will have to deposit Rs. 500/- in addition to the fee prescribed for

corresponding I Semester given in Fee Structure table alongwith additional

University fees.

8. FEE STRUCTURE FOR RESEARCH STUDENTS

At the time of admission a research students will have to deposit a fee of
