Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Washington D.C. Chapter board of directors, our members and affiliates, I am delighted to announce the 1st Diversity Summit of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources (NAAAHR). Our theme for this event is “Diversity: The Hallmark of Real Success.” We, at DC NAAAHR, are very excited about this summit scheduled for December 10, 2009 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.! We are also excited about the opportunity to partner with our co-host Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies and our sponsor Dr. Christopher Metzler, a leading voice in the global diversity dialog, and a Professor and Associate Dean at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies.
We are expecting over one hundred of your fellow human resources professionals, who are poised to learn, inspire, share, and grow while broadening their professional horizons through networking, dialog, new ideas and awareness sharing with other HR, Diversity, and Executive level business professionals. We’ll explore the topic of diversity and inclusion through inspiring and insightful keynote addresses along with two (2) dynamic program “tracks.”
We invite you to not only join us to help kick off this first of many opportunities to engage in a dialog about diversity, but that you would invite your organizations leaders and other colleagues to join in the dialog with HR professionals and diversity professionals from your across the region. During his commencement speech at ASU, President Obama stated that diversity, inclusiveness and giving opportunity to all, are the hallmarks of real success. We have made this the theme of our Diversity Summit, “Diversity: The Hallmark of Real Success.”
We look forward to seeing you at this year’s summit!
Sincerely,
Kevin J. CarringtonDC NAAAHR President and Summit Chairperson

Our Purpose
The National Association of African Americans in Human
Resources (NAAAHR), a not-for-profit organization,
exists to provide a national forum where Black and
African American human resources practitioners and those who are aligned with our goals can share, gain
information and provide leadership on issues affecting their individual careers and the global workforce. By
doing this, we endeavor to increase the presence and leadership ability in minority talent at all levels, across
all industries, both nationally and globally by facilitating conferences, seminars, regional events, career fairs
and by building strategic alliances.
Our HistoryIncorporated in September 1998 in the State of Maryland, the NAAAHR was co-sponsored by the Baltimore Black Human Resource Network and the Washington DC Black Human Resources Network. The NAAAHR was formed by a coalition of 17 local organizations of Black and African American professionals and consultants from many cities across the country. We are now an association of 2000 members and affiliates and operate over 32 chapters and interest groups throughout the nation. Many of our members are affiliated with other professional and trade organizations, but find their local NAAAHR chapter a valued resource for shared learning, professional development and personal growth opportunities.
In 2008, NAAAHR hosted our 10th Anniversary Conference at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. Many of our corporate partners felt that this event offered an array of opportunities for corporate engagement. We expect that the Diversity Summit here in Washington DC will also provide our corporate partners with the opportunity to not only engage, but to learn and grow as we grow and expand our impact on the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Historically our events provide return on investment and value added solutions to include employment and product branding, sponsorship, talent acquisition, career development, and networking.
