DDCUS - 8 th Grade Spanish Syllabus Ms. P. Moreno email: [email protected] Room: 1235 The goal of Eight Grade Spanish is to provide students with a comprehensive immersion into the Spanish language, grammar, vocabulary and literature for understanding, interpreting, and reinforcing their knowledge. Attached you will find a general guide describing what will be covered during the school year. Textbooks: 1. Savia Lengua Castellana y Literatura 2º eso. Materials: We will be using a Spanish Journal in class as well as the interactive textbook mentioned above. In addition, printed worksheets and online resources will be used in class for further learning of topics. Ipads will be required in class on a daily basis. Communication: Parents and students can contact me by email at [email protected]. Grading Policy: Participation (5%): All students should come to class on time to fully participate in class. If students are tardy without an excuse, their participation grade will be lowered. In addition, students are expected to actively engage in class discussions and activities. Quizzes (15%): Quizzes will be given regularly in class. Tests (30%): Tests will be announced. Classwork (25%): Students are expected to actively work in class activities, laboratory activities, etc. Projects (10%): Projects will be given per quarter. A rubric will be provided. Presentations (10%): Oral project presentations, honorary teacher presentations by students or any other oral activities will be graded in this category. Homework (5%): Students are expected to efficiently complete their assigned homework by the assigned due date. Late homework is unacceptable.

Conduct and Effort: All students are expected to behave professionally at all times and adhere to the DDCUS Parent/Student Handbook expectations and the Miami Dade County Public Schools Code of Conduct. Respect is our number one rule in class. Students are expected to respect their teacher, classmates, and others. Students are also expected to respect classroom and school property. Students are hold accountable for their actions and have to be ready to assume any consequences. Responsibility is also crucial in our classes. Students are responsible for bringing the required materials to class (journal, book, pencils, pens, additional requested materials) and for turning in their classwork/homework on time. In case of an absence, students are responsible for obtaining and completing any work missed. Students are also expected to give their best effort in every class. They should be actively engaged in class. ZEROTOLERANCEFORANYKINDOFMISBEHAVIOR,DISRESPECTANDBULLING. How can students be successful?

1. Be in class and be on time. Attendance is crucial for your education. 2. Have your materials ready at the beginning of each class. 3. Engage in classroom activities. 4. Be responsible and work hard. 5. Treat others with respect and show a positive attitude in class.

Absences: In case of an absence, students are responsible for obtaining and completing any missed work.
