Amy Jade Winehouse: (14 September 1983 – 23 July 2011) was an English singer and songwriter. That was known for her deep powerful voice. She was from England. She had won a numerous number of awards such as best British pop single of the year, song of the year for ``Rehab``, Best new artist, album of the year, best international female artist rock/pop and many more!!! She had inspired many people. But sadly she couldn’t overcome her battle with drugs and alcohol and she died on July the 23 rd from alcohol poisoning. After her death police recovered one small and two large bottles of Vodka from her room. The report passed on October 26 th 2011 said that Amy Winehouse`s blood alcohol content was 416 mg per decilitre at the time of her death which is more than five times the legal drink and drive limit. Her family, friends and fans came to pay tribute to her outside of her home on the day of her death.

Heroin Effects: Breathe at a slower rate and breathing can reach the point of respiratory failure, pneumonia, decreased liver function, collapsed veins, weakness in muscles, heart infection etc.

Amy Winehouse went through a period of drinking, heavy drug use, weight loss and violent mood swings in 2005. Then in August 2007 Amy Winehouse cancelled a number of concerts because she said she was exhausted and had ill health. She was hospitalised during this time for what was reported to be an overdose of Heroin, Ecstasy, Cocaine, Ketamine and Alcohol. Also in lots of interviews ,she had admitted to having problems with self-harm, depression and eating disorders. Plus ``the Sun`` (a British tabloid) posted a video of a woman thought to be Amy Winehouse, apparently smoking Crack Cocaine and speaking of having taken Ecstasy and Valium.

In 2006, Amy Winehouse admitted that she had punched a fan in the face for criticizing her for taking Blake Fielder-Civil as a husband. Then she attacked Blake has he attempted to calm her down. Then in 2007, Amy Winehouse and her then-husband were arrested in Bergen, Norway for possession of seven grams of Marijuana. In 2008 she admitted to have slapped a 38 year old man in the face. In April 2009 was arrested and charged because a woman claimed that Amy Winehouse had hit her in the eye. At the same time she was reported to have spat at Pippa Middleton (Kate Middleton`s sister). Then in December 2009 was arrested again because she has assaulted the front-of-house manager Milton Keynes Theatre because he had asked her to move from her seat.

Amy Winehouse had pretty bad teeth but that hadn`t always been the case. When she released her first album Frank, she had a curvier figure and looked a lot healthier. Her teeth weren’t perfect but when you compare Amy Winehouse’s teeth before and after years of abuse you can see the effect of her lifestyle on her teeth.

* In my opinion I think Amy Winehouse started using the substances because her grandma died and her grandma was really important to her and she started using those substances out of depression. My second reason for her substance abuse is her ex/ her on and off husband Blake Fielder-Civil. He used illegal substances in front of Amy Winehouse. On an interview with Blake he said that she demanded to try some after watching him ingest them. If he had been a good husband he would have said I don`t want you to go down the road that I went through. * One societal and personal implication of substance abuse for Amy Winehouse is health related issues. You might think it`s only a personal implication because it affects her health. It`s a societal implication as well because seeing her having health issues makes the society feel sympathetic for her, plus it`s a big topic for media to focus on. Another societal and personal implication for substance abuse for Amy Winehouse is jail time and fines. It`s personal because she gets depression from getting jail time and fines and also a lot of stress. It`s a societal implication because she will have a decrease in fans, plus parents will think that Amy Winehouse is a bad influence for their kids.* If I had five minutes with Amy Winehouse before she got into trouble I would tell her strategies to counter the pressures for using illegal substances such as maybe she should do more exercise, eat healthy foods, drink lots of water, find hobbies/activities to do instead of using illegal substances. I would have also have asked her if she had any goals in her life that she wanted to accomplish and might not be able to if she started using illegal substances. I would tell her that if she loved her family, friends and fans she wouldn`t start using those substances . Plus I would tell her some of the personal and societal implications using those substances would have and I would also tell her some serious health effects. Then I would tell her that she will die young and might become another member of the 27 club (a club for famous people that died at the age of 27). The last thing that I would say to her is that she loves to sing and if she decided to take those illegal substances her career would go ``down the drain.`` Plus that if Blake ever pressures her into taking drugs she might as well leave him because ``there are plenty other fish in the sea.``* If her life had not been cut short Amy Winehouse could have made many more albums and songs. Won many more Grammys and other awards. Have accomplished her goals in life. Continued her dream of being a singer and could have started a family which was one of her dreams.
