Samuel Rose undertook his final year of a Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree at Deakin
UniversitythisyearandwasastudentintwounitsthatItaughtinthefinalsemester:Medical
Microbiology and Immunology and Professional Practice in Bioscience. The latter is a work
placement unit designed to teach students employment‐related skills in preparation for the
workplaceandtheirfuturecareersinscience.Samdidparticularlywellinthisunit,achievinga
gradeof90 (HD). Partof the requirementof thisunit is that students sourceandundertake
workexperiencewithinarelevantorganisation.SamundertookhisworkplacementatEnsign
Laboratories Pty Ltdwhere he assisted in the chemistry quality control laboratories. Hewas
highly commendedbyhis supervisorwho indicated in the formal report that Samwasa fast
learnerandworkedwellindependently.
During the semester Sampresentedas aproactive individual anda self‐starterwho ishighly
motivated; he demonstrated exceptional learning capabilities. Sam was punctual and
conscientious,regularlyattendingclassesforbothunits.Samcameacrossasaveryinterested
student who engaged well with the content of both units and he submitted all of his
assessmentsontime.Hewasalwayspoliteandcourteousandadelighttohaveinmyclasses.
Sam’smarksthroughoutthesemesterreflectedhishardworkanddedicationandhisinitiative
tosucceedinhisstudies.
IstronglyrecommendandsupportSamuelRoseinhisapplicationfortheBachelorofPharmacy
degreeatMonashUniversityandwishhimallthebestforhisfutureendeavours.
