2016-17 NEW MEMBERS

Ambassador Amie Armbrister earned her Associate of Arts degree in 2011 from Miami Dade College and her Bachelors of Science in Biology from NSU in 2014. Ambassador Armbrister has made the Dean’s List in 2012. She has volunteered at various hospitals in Miami and most recently a volunteer in the logistics/ central pharmacy department at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Ambassador Armbrister is currently a member of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association, as well as the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. Through these organizations, she has gained hands on experience servicing those in the community participating in events such as “A Day for Children” where she educated parents and children on poison control and spending time at Walgreens as an advocate for immunizations.

Tomona Iso - Class of 2018

Tomona Iso, born in Ibaraki, Japan, earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 2006 from Tohoku Pharmaceutical University in Sendai, Japan. After graduation, she worked at Sonoda Daiichi hospital in Tokyo, Japan where she practiced evidence based medicine as a clinical pharmacist . Ambassador Iso was a member of Pressure Ulcers Control Team, and she contributed to making patient care plans, as well as educating other practitioners about the effective methods for the treatment. Iso presented at the annual congress of Japanese Society of Pressure Ulcers. She also co-founded a Nutrition Support Team for inpatients, especially the elderly. She made a great achievement as a clinical pharmacist, and as a business person. Her interest in cross-cultural communication led her to the English school at the University of La Verne in Los Angeles, California and was awarded the “best student in the class” for her academic performance. Currently, Iso is member of the NSU COP Student College of Clinical Pharmacy, Student National Pharmaceutical Association, and International Pharmaceutical Students Association.

Ambassador Kayla Hale completed her Bachelors Degree in Biological Sciences from the College of Agriculture at the University of Florida where she was also member of the National Collegiate Scholars Honor Society. During her undergraduate studies, she earned over $20,000 in merit-based from her college and from private organizations in her hometown. Hale worked Florida Healthcare Plans in Daytona Beach, Florida, a managed care pharmacy . Ambassador Hale is currently involved in the Student National Pharmaceutical Association, the Vaccination Awareness Committee at NSU College of Pharmacy, and is also pledging the professional pharmaceutical fraternity Kappa Psi. She is certified in CPR, Blood Pressure and Blood Glucose monitoring. Ambassador Hale performed as a Dance Marathon Captain and helped raise $2M for the Children’s Miracle Network at Shand’s Hospital

Vanessa Huffman - Class of 2019

Ambassador Vanessa Huffman attended Florida International University and received her Associates degree in biology from Miami Dade College. She served as treasurer of Phi Theta Kappa honor society for two consecutive years. Ambassador Huffman has participated in fundraisers, volunteered in a Feed the Homeless initiative, and attended many Relays for Life. She currently interns at CVS Pharmacy. Ambassador Huffman is involved in several organizations, including the Student National Pharmacy Association, the Student Society of Health System Pharmacy, and also Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. Ambassador Huffman plans to pursue a

residency in critical care pharmacy.

Shanique K. James – Advance Standing Class of 2018

Shanique James received her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Technology (UT), Jamaica. During her tenure at UT, she held leadership positions in the Association of Pharmacy Students and UTech Halls of Residence. She was also an active volunteer in the Pharmaceutical Society of Jamaica outreach programs. Ambassador James participated in research to investigate the stability of extemporaneously prepared suspensions for children at the Bustamante Hospital for Children, Jamaica. Presently, Ambassador James is Advanced Standing P1 Class Treasurer. She is also member in organizations such as APhA-ASP, SNPhA, CPFI and IPSA. James has volunteered in several events such as a Day for Children, Blood Pressure workshops and screenings and the Diabetes Walk. Ambassador James aspires to pursue a PGY-1 residency.

Julian N. L. Lamptey – Class of 2018

Julian Lamptey obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He was an active member of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation and the Ghana Pharmaceutical Student Association, where he was involved in drug safety campaigns in the rural and underserved areas of Ghana. Ambassador Lamptey is member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana and worked as the pharmacist in charge for a community pharmacy. He was also a medical representative for Janssen [Pharmaceutical Company of Johnson and Johnson and was awarded the Best Medical Representative in his country. Ambassador Lamptey is an active member of the American Pharmacist Association, the Student National Pharmaceutical Association as well as the International Pharmaceutical Student Association. He has placed on the Chancellor's List. After earning his Pharm.D degree, Ambassador Lamptey plans to pursue a fellowship program in industry.

Leanne Minimo - Class of 2019

Ambassador Leanne Minimo, originally from Glendale, California, attended Riverside City College. There, she was recognized on the Dean’s List, invited to join the honor society, Alpha Gamma Sigma. She then transferred to Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee where she placed the honor roll and was exposed to research synthesizing compounds. Minimo received her Bachelors of Arts in Chemistry with a minor in Biology. Ambassador Minimo traveled on a medical mission trip to Lascahobas, Haiti where she worked in a makeshift pharmacy counseling and providing vitamins and medications to the people of the village. Leanne also volunteered at Mountain View Pharmacy in Loma Linda, California and learned about home infusion pharmacy services. Today, as a College of Pharmacy student pharmacist she has joined various organizations such as the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists, Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Student National Pharmaceutical Association, and is a newly initiated brother of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Incorporated.

Lindsay Musoff graduated Florida Atlantic University Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, making President's List and Dean's List for throughout her undergraduate education. Musoff has participated in several research projects, including the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory. Ambassador Musoff also helped open an urgent care center from the ground up, acting the chief marketing director and manager for the center, thus garnering skills needed to run a business such as, medical coding and billing, experience addressing patient needs, as well as managing social media outlets, websites, and creating advertising design. Ambassador has made the NSU COP Dean's List and has thus far joined APHA-NSP and AMCP. Ambassador Musoff seeks to find an area of pharmacy that will satisfy her scientifically oriented desire for knowledge.

José A. Ojeda - Class of 2019

José Ojeda his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Florida International University and graduated with honors with . While attending FIU, he was involved in the local Pre-Pharmacy organization visiting pharmacy schools, including NSU’s COP community pharmacies. As an undergraduate, Ojeda was a teacher assistant and a peer mentor for other students. Currently, he is an active member of the APhA’s involved in meeting, health fairs, vaccination drives and helping the organization officers plan for future events. Ojeda is also vice-president of his Class where, together with the officers, plans social events to get the students more involved. Upon completion of his pharmacy degree, Ambassador Ojeda plans to either practice in a community pharmacy or as a clinical pharmacist.

Keena A. Patel - Class of 2019

Keena Patel earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at Florida State University and was on the Dean’s List for three consecutive semesters. Ambassador Patel studied hyperactivity and working memory as a research assistant giving her insight on the methods and techniques by which drug interactions are tested and studied. Along with her research team, she presented at the Society of Neuroscience Conference in Washington, D.C. Her team’s research is currently in the process of being published. Ambassador Patel is a member of Student National Pharmaceutical Association and Student Societies of Health-System Pharmacy, where she is actively involved in healthcare training and healthcare fairs. Patel is fluent in English, Gujarati, and knows basic Spanish.

Raju Rajan - Class of 2019

Raju Rajan received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Florida. While there, Rajan became a member of Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity Inc. holding the positions of Secretary, Vice President, and President. Ambassador Rajan has also conducted research in the improvement of corticosteroids in DPIs and MDIs. He is currently an active member in Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Inc. and the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In addition, he works as a pharmacy technician at CVS/Pharmacy. Upon graduation, Ambassador Rajan plans to pursue an Ambulatory Care residency to broaden his career goals.

Annette Vidal graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, and minor in Chemistry and Marketing. Vidal is an active member of the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy (SCCP) and the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA). As a member of SCCP, she demonstrates her ability to lead by attending motivational interview workshops and volunteering at community events - she aspires to be the organization’s next President. Outside of her involvement in pharmacy organizations, Vidal has been recognized on the Chancellor’s List and is conducting research in the field of individualized pharmacotherapy. Upon graduation, Ambassador Vidal plans to pursue a fellowship and become a professor.

Yennifer L. Colón Morales - Class of 2019

Ambassador Yennifer Colón graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrative Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras and made the Honor Roll of the Natural Sciences Faculty. Ambassador Colón participated in several research projects and is member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. Some of her, extracurricular projects and activities include recycling programs, coastal clean ups, setting up a school library in a public school, providing toys to poor children, and proudly supporting St. Jude Hospital. Ambassador Colón was awarded the Chancellor Scholarship to recognize her academic achievements while working towards her bachelor degree. She is a member of the American Pharmacist Association and the National Community Pharmacist Association. Her future goal is to serve these organizations in a leadership capability.

Ariel E. Tarraza-Santos - Class of 2019

Ambassador Ariel E. Tarraza-Santos completed his Bachelor degree in Natural Science Human Biology Focus at the University of Puerto Rico at Bayamón. During his undergraduate experience, he has participated in various science organizations such as the American Medical Student Association where he served as the social delegate and historian for two years. He has participated in health fairs, food giveaways and multiple community cleanups. Additionally, he was a member of the Student Chapter of the Society of Microbiologist and the American Chemical Society. He also had the opportunity of being part of the deacons at the Disciples of Christ Church. Ambassador Tarraza-Santos worked in a pharmacology research lab at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus. At NSU Ambassador Tarraza-Santos is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Pharmacists Association were he has developed leadership skills which he will apply seeing patients in the community.

Ambassador Daisy R. Pérez Laboy attended Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, Ponce Campus and obtained a B.S. in Chemistry and was recognized as the Best Chemistry Student in Puerto Rico. She was a member of the American Chemical Society working as Supplemental Instruction Leader offering group and individual tutoring sessions. Ambassador Pérez-Laboy placed in the Dean’s Honor List and received the President’s Award. In her senior year, she was nominated as the Best Chemistry Student of Puerto Rico. The Examining Board of Chemist recognized Ambassador Pérez-Laboy for attaining the highest grade in the Chemist’s Board Exam. She also worked at Advalligence Tutorial Center as tutor for students and at Washburn School as math and science teacher. Currently, she serves as the Puerto Rico P1 Class Secretary. She is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Pharmacists Association. She has participated in several health fairs and participated in various workshops and meetings. Orlando R. Rivera Pérez - Class of 2019

Ambassador Orlando R. Rivera Pérez studied Interdisciplinary Sciences in the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. He has volunteered in several entities such as ACLS training in Hospital Pavia Santurce, and the Clinical Pharmacy in HIMA San Pablo-Caguas Hospital, the Children’s Hospital. Ambassador Rivera has worked on and presented a research project in the SIDIM at Ponce and CAPSTONE presentation of the University of Puerto Rico. Ambassador Rivera developed his skills in the computer programing language Matlab and Python to be able to write and edit the codes necessary for the analysis of heart rate monitor time series data. Ambassador Rivera is a member of APHA and the ASHP-SSHP and has assisted in community projects with Walgreens Massive Activity of Vaccine Festival on the diabetes walk.

Keyla G. Rodríguez-Zayas - Class of 2019

Ambassador Keyla Rodríguez has a bachelor degree in Marketing with a minor in Human Biology from the University of Puerto Rico. She graduated as a Magna Cum Laude student and was a member of the Honor Society. She earned her associate degree as a Pharmacy Technician, from the National University College of Puerto Rico. She has worked in several pharmacy settings and did internships and shadowing rotations at Costco pharmacy, Walgreens, VA Hospital of PR and Johnson & Johnson. Also Ambassador Rodríguez is member of pharmacy student organizations and has participated as a volunteer in health clinics at Kmart and Costco. Recently, she participated in a Johnson & Johnson’s panel, at the Pharmacy Convention of PR, to encourage pharmacy students’ interest in the pharmaceutical industry. She speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Yaritza G. Torres Ruiz - Class of 2019

Ambassador Yaritza Griselle Torres obtained her BA in Natural Sciences Major in chemistry at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras where she was a member of American Chemistry Society and Golden Key Honor Society. Ambassador Torres completed her pharmacy technician studies at National University College. She worked in Farmácia Caribe in Rio Grande prior to becoming a pharmacy technician. She also worked a professor for pharmacy technician students at the National University College and the Universidad Del Este. Currently, Ambassador Torres is a member in various organizations such as, the American Pharmacist Association and the National Community Pharmacist Association.

Monet K. Luloh - Class of 2019

Ambassador Monet Luloh attended Indian River State College where she earned the honor of Magna Cum Laude with an Associate of Arts in Biology. She was on the Dean's List for majority of the semesters and in her first semester at NSU is on the Chancellors List. She has worked at Publix Pharmacy from and has learned about processing prescriptions, dispensing medications, and patient care. Ambassador Luloh is a member of the American Pharmacists Association and the Student Societies of Health-System Pharmacy. Through these organizations she has actively participated in community events, including the SSHP Clinical Skills Competition as a P1. One of her goals for pharmacy school is to build and improve her analytical reasoning skills, problem solving, and teamwork skills.

Antonio Juan Suárez Colón - Class of 2019

Ambassador Antonio Juan Suárez Colón received his Bachelors Degree in General Science from the University of Puerto Rico and his Masters Degree in Public Health, with a concentration in Biostatistic. During his undergraduate years, he participated in research in Neuroscience and in Mutagenesis. While completing his MPH degree, he was President of his department’s Student Association, earning him a leadership award upon graduation. Ambassador Suárez also worked on a profile of the Utilization of Mental Health Services in Puerto Rico. He currently serves as an Academic Senator for the Student Government Association of the Palm Beach Campus and is a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Pharmacists Association, the Alpha Zeta Omega pharmacy fraternity (Psi Chapter) and the Society of Cannabis Clinicians.

Krisjon WilKerson - Class of 2019

Ambassador Krisjon “KJ” Wilkerson obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Arkansas and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and played baseball for the university. He was involved in “The Miracle League,” which is an organization that provides the opportunity for individuals that have physical and mental disabilities the opportunity to play baseball. Ambassador Wilkerson is a member of the American Pharmacists Association and the National Community Pharmacist’s Association. He is also a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Pharmacists Association, the Alpha Zeta Omega pharmacy fraternity (Psi Chapter) and the Society of Cannabis Clinicians. His current goal is to explore the facts and fictions surrounding medical cannabis and how using cannabis can become part of modern pharmacy practices.
