Small Faith Sharing Group

St. Joseph Marello’s SMALL FAITH SHARING GROUP will be meeting after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday Mass during Advent to discuss the upcoming Sunday readings. We will be gathering in Room 3 of the church on December 14 and 21 to reflect on the Miracle that is Christmas and how the readings can help us to fully experience and live the Word of God during this blessed season. Light refreshments will be served. If you are interested in joining us, or have any questions, please contact Ginger Devereaux 916 791-4045 or [email protected].

The Vocations Prayer

Cross will be at the home of

Tim & Barbara Mabie

All parishioners are invited to sign up to receive the prayer cross at any Mass you desire, by contacting

John O’Brien at [email protected] or signing up in the vestibule. It is our hope that this experience will encourage each of us to take seriously our vocation as a member of the Body of Christ and encourage ALL of us to pray for the gift of vocations to priesthood and religious life.

Thank you to all the parishioners who participated this year in the Adopt a Family/Jesse Tree program. Families in need will enjoy a happy holiday because of your generosity. Thank you for your support now and throughout the year of the SVDP ministry team efforts. Please note we continue to host the food bins in the church vestibule for donations. Items are taken to the SVDP Roseville area food locker weekly and are so critical to families of need. Peace and blessings!

“One good resolution, pondered, strengthened, and always kept in mind is worth the good of a lifetime.”

- St. Joseph Marello

This Week’s Special Collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious

Aging religious need your help. Senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests have offered their lives in service to others—educating the young, comforting the sick, seeking justice for the oppressed. Today, many are frail, elderly, and in need of assistance. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps to furnish medications, nursing care, and other necessities. Please give generously to today’s second collection.

St. Joseph Marello’s Cub Scout Pack 48 would like to thank the parishioners for their support during our See’s Candy fundraiser. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Caregiver Support Group

When providing care for a loved one, increased demands and responsibilities can interfere with a person’s ability to invest in relationships and maintain social connections. It is not uncommon for caregivers to feel a variety of emotion and stress including: Guilt, Helplessness, Anger and Resentment.

You are not alone in your struggles, emotions and challenges. Please join us if you are caring for a love one. We are meeting the 2 nd Tuesday of each month from 3:00-4:30 at the church. Please join us at the next upcoming support groups on Tuesday Dec. 13, Jan. 10 and Feb. 14. The group is facilitated by Beth Meuser a Care Navigator with Eskaton. Beth holds a degree in Gerontology and does work with the National Alzheimer’s Association. We welcome anyone to this group. If you would like more information, you can reach Beth at 459-3220.

Lighthouse CD of the Week:Put Not Your Trust in Princes

Speaking from his perspective as a historian, Christopher Check reminds us that the crisis of our age is cultural and, in the end, spiritual. He explains that a flourishing society is not achieved through legislation or at the ballot box, but instead radiates from the family out. Using examples from the ages, he connects us with our rich patrimony as Catholics and provides practical advice on what we must do to transform our culture for Christ.

St. Joseph Marello Marian Guild – A Day of New BeginningsOn Nov. 28th, 18 Marian Guild members and friends attended Mass at St. Stephen the First Martyr Church, served by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, and where the Traditional Latin (Tridentine) Rite is observed. It was a spiritually enriching experience to hear the Mass celebrated in Latin and then learn about the traditional Latin liturgy.

After leaving St. Stephen’s, the group headed for Plates Cafe and had a lovely lunch prepared by women who receive training provided by the St. John’s Shelter program. Afterwards, a young mother and a participant of the program delivered an emotional testimonial about her recovery from abuse and addiction with the help of St. John’s Program for Change. The Guild then presented the Shelter with a check for $4000.00, which represented the proceeds from our Taste N’ Sip fundraiser. It was gratifying to know that the Guild’s outreach efforts are far-reaching and can make a difference in the lives of women throughout the greater Sacramento area. The Marian Guild would like to express our deepest gratitude to all parishioners who attended the Taste N’ Sip fundraiser!
