The lAAA, the only group of its kind, was started by a small group of veteran auto appraisers back in 1994. The founding members include, Jamie Del Valle, Joseph Jesser, David Laigle, Jeremiah Lee Larson, Robert Lorkowski and Anthony V. Monopoli. Through word of mouth and grassroots efforts, the LAAA has become the go-to source when consumers and legal counsel are in need of certified appraisers. We have members across the United States and Canada, and hope to extend our reach beyond North America in the coming years. \

Arbitrat ion S a v e s I n s u r e r s and ind iv idua ls Mill ions The formation of the lAAA/Auto Mediators Association was announced during a previous All-Auto-Appraisal-Industry-Conference. The Auto Mediator Association Ethics and Procedure course were developed and taught by Professor Amy Coren at the 4* and 5* AAAIC. The 6* AAAIC has an Auto Mediator Umpire course that will include a step by step fulfillment of the Appraisal Clause requirement utilizing the

Auto Mediators.com websites three step process. The plan will be to have one of the Auto Mediator certified trained Umpires have an actual Appraisal Clause Hearing using the Auto Mediators Association Websites three step process. >. AMA and lAAA members will be allowed to watch the entire process from selection through the appraisal clause hearing from start to finish. The website will be accessed to acquire the names of three choices to be used as an umpire. The process available at the website will allow one of the umpires to be selected by name, one by using a state only, which provides the name and the third selection by using the websites random choice method which supplies an umpire by a number only that will be temporary shielded till after the choice is made by both participating appraisers. The course will illustrate the workings of the AM.com website. The paperwork that is necessary to the process will be supplied throughout the course including a notification and award form. We will allow all lAAA members to see the dramatization. I Bloodl ines in the Biz The lAAA itself has been a proponent of bringing a kid to a car show theme. We decided to show you how some of our members have followed. As we celebrate our 15th anniversary, the lAAA is laying foundation for the future, and you need look no further than some of the father-son teams in the organization. i The father-son duos of Jack and Tom Baker, Howard and Jeff Hyman, Robert and Robert Lojewski Jr. and most recently Tony and Mario Monopoli are making the appraisal business a family affair. Not only is it a great way for fathers and sons to forge a lasting bond, but it helps to ensure a legacy in the appraisal business for years to come. Mario Monopoli is the lAAA's newest appraisal apprentice, under the tutelage of his father Tony who has over 45 years of experience in the car business. Tony, the executive director of the lAAA, is a great source of information and

guidance for Mario. But, the bigger picture is the family aspect. "Having my son get involved in the business means a lot to me," said Tony Monopoli. "It means that when my time in the business is done, the Monopoli name wil l continue on for years to come. You can't put a price tag on that."

This is a sentiment that Mario shares with his father. "No matter what was going on between me and my dad growing up, we could always talk about anything auto related. And by me becoming an apprentice (and a certified appraiser someday), it's a way for me to continue in the family business."

Tony urges all l A A A members with sons, or daughters, to get their children involved. In addition to being a great way to earn some extra income, it's a way to pass something from one generation to the next.

For those members with sons or daughters interested in becoming appraisers, contact the I AAA at: automotiveappraiserCajyahoo.com.

WORDS OF WISDOM When the going gets tuff, the tuff get going!

2008 was a year we won't forget soon, but how we counter it in 2009 wil l go down in history.

The AAAIC is a great start, come ask, listen and maybe we can all learn Irom it. Many Appraisers in attendance wil l witness an Appraisal Clause Hearing. It might be their first but hopefully not their last. , , .\

RM SPEAKS OUT. IS IT STJLL TRUE? RM AUCTIONS' HERSHEY EVENT CONFIRMS POSITIVE OUTLOOK FOR COLLECTOR CAR MARKET

Solid sales results from RM Auctions* recent 'Vintage Motor Cars of Hershey'

event illustrate the continuing strength of the classic car market.

HERSHEY, Pennsylvania (October 14, 2008) - Strong sales results from RM Auctions' Vintage Motor Cars of Hershey event last week are evidence the collector car market remains healthy. The single-day event, held October 10th at the famous Hershey Lodge, captured the attention of the collector car market as enthusiasts were eager to see the impact of the current economic climate on the global hobby. Whilst the October lO"' event followed a shaky week on Wall Street, results revealed a positive outlook with total sales surpassing $6.9 million for 84 cars offered, some of which exceeded expectations. "Despite recent fluctuations in the financial markets, collectors and enthusiasts remain positive about the classic car market," said Ian Kelleher, Managing Director of RM Auctions following the auction. "RM continues to be the barometer for the industry and strong sales results coupled with an increase in international interest - namely European bidders - at our Hershey event are a good indication that the market for alternative investments remains strong," he added. Headlining the single-day sale was a stunning 1933 Duesenberg La Grande Phaeton, considered one of the rarest and most desirable of the open bodied Duesenbergs. A factory supercharged model with just a handful of owners and a continuous history from new, this magnificent example brought an impressive $1,688,500. Other notable sales highhghts included a rare and highly desirable 1917 Pierce-Arrow Model 48 Touring Car for $385,000, and

Also stealing the spotlight were a unique series of pedal cars customized by some of today's leading automotive restorers and designers. Proceeds from the pedal car sales supported the esteemed Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) association, headquartered in Hershey. Highlights included Josie's 56, a miniature pink Cadillac complete with actual stock fabric fi-om a 1956 Cadillac, real chrome and 24 karat gold plating for $34,500 and Fifth of Fiesta, so named as is exactly one-fifth the size of an actual 1953 Oldsmobile Fiesta for $23,000. In addition to the auction event, RM Auctions' participated in a number of special community activities during the week, including the AACA's annual Night at the Museum fundraising benefit at Hershey's AACA Museum, as well as facilitating a special tour for automotive students from the Milton Hershey School. ;
