Director's Message by Jason Edge
Hello Chapter Members,
First, I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas Holiday and is looking forward to a Great 2014! I have to say one of the coolest items I received for Christmas this year was a large illustration from Mano Forsman from Sweden. Instead of me trying to describe it, go to the last page of this newsletter and check out the detail of his hand-crafted illustration. I was chuffed to see my name tagged to a door hinge I had supplied sometime over the last year and thought what a fantastic combination of Christmas and the restoration of our Cadillacs! Mano in turn received a 2014 CLC Museum calendar that benefits our “in progress” museum and has a very fine example of a 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille featured for the month of September….if I don’t say so myself. Exchanging cards, shirts, calendars, and other gifts during the holiday season is just one perk of being part of our 1963/1964 Cadillac Community and our extended Cadillac LaSalle Club family. The camaraderie and friendships built around our passion of these great automobiles, has got be the most compelling reason to join a club and chapter such as ours with other like-minded people. If you are active on the website, you also know that our chapter-hosted site is a great source of technical and restoration help from other members, however, I believe our club runs much deeper than a simple web forum or club roster, in that we truly are a club of friends. During this season of Faith and Sharing I am most appreciative of the many benefits that our camaraderie as a club affords each of us and thank you for being part of our club.
A Final Look at the 63’s (for now)……. We will wrap up our look at the 1963 Cadillac with this newsletter but will definitely return to this incredible model year after we roll out the red carpet for the 1964 Cadillac and its 50th Anniversary. We end our look at the 1963’s with John Churchill’s Fleetwood 75 Series Sedan. I wanted to also cover the commercial chassis body styles but have run out of time and stories and will come back to that body style and others later. I have learned so much from the written sources such as the dealer date book, shop manual, specification manual, brochures, etc., that we have covered and included in the newsletters, however, I have learned much more from each of you that have submitted the wonderful stories! I love to brag about our chapter, but have to say we really have great chapter members, and thank each of you for the continued support and representing our niche of Cadillac so very well! A Year-Long Look at the 1964 Cadillac We will try and cover as many of the 1964 body styles as possible throughout 2014. We have a lot of great 1963’s we want to go back to, but for the 50th anniversary of the 1964, we will give that model year its due starting with a 62 series later in January 2014. I will need articles with pictures to include in the newsletters and encourage each of you to consider writing an article about your 1964 in the coming year. It really gives me a thrill to feature our member Cadillacs, but need you to step up with those stories. With that said…. Here’s wishing all of you a wonderful Holiday
Season and Happy New Year!!! Jason.

John Churchill’s 1963 Fleetwood 75 Series Sedan
My love affair with 1963 Cadillacs began in the mid-sixties, when my father let me drive his blue 1963
DeVille convertible. After pining for one for nearly four decades, I bought a 1964 Eldorado in 2003
and a 1965 Series 75 Limousine in 2004. Both promptly went into the shop for restoration.
In the summer of 2005, while shopping for honey in Del Norte, Colorado, my wife said: “Look, that
looks like your…” She stopped mid-sentence hoping I hadn’t heard her (the two other Cadillacs were
still in the shop, generating nothing but bills). I glanced where she had been looking and there was a
beautiful 1963 Series 75 Sedan sitting forlornly in a small used car lot next door, a washed out price
once painted on its windshield. A careful inspection revealed that she was a rust-free western car,
with less than 57,000 original miles. I drove her home the next day, with my less than enthusiastic
but extraordinarily tolerant wife in tow.
After routine
maintenance, oil changes,
lubrication and the like we
drove her to western
Arizona where these
photos were taken.
A little research revealed that
she was originally a “funeral”
car, purchased by a funeral
home, with the “radio delete”
option so as to not disturb the
passengers.
Her interior is original except
for the seat covers and portions
of the carpet. Most of the
exterior paint also appears to be
original. I did have the engine
compartment “refreshed,”
however.

She now resides at the
“Cottonwood Cove Resort”
outside of Creede, Colorado,
which is nearly 9,000 feet
above sea level.
To the delight of those who get to
ride in her, she is used as the
resort “limo” to pick up air
travelers at the Creede and
Alamosa airports, as well as to
take resort guests and others to
the Creede Repertory Theatre,
restaurants, bars, for tours of the
beautiful San Juan mountains
(where the mountain passes
frequently exceed 11,000 feet)
and for special occasions.
She has even taken
fisherman to local trout
lakes and streams (the
Rio Grande River runs
through the resort).
Needless to say, it is quite
a hit.
……member spotlight continued
Her sturdy 390 engine
(unique to its year) has
required nothing but oil
changes and tune ups, and
her four speed
“Hydramatic” transmission
has been maintenance free.
I installed air shocks in the
back, which have been
inflated when occasional
large parties (as many as
five or six) sit in the back
seats.
This 1963 Series 75 Sedan is an unrestored original (except for the front and rear seat
covers – the jump seats are original). Everything works, including the front and rear
air/heaters and both clocks!
It is not in what I would consider to be #10 “show worthy” condition, although it is a
beautiful car, and I have shown it in local cars shows in Arizona and Colorado.
I drive it every summer while vacationing in Colorado.

Happy New Year!!
From the 1963/1964 Cadillac Chapter!
Hopefully you will have a fleet of elves working on your Cadillac throughout 2014 as Mano Forsman has working on his 1963 Eldorado.
