EMORY PANHELLENIC COUNCIL

INSIDE THIS ISSUE:

1: EPC Past Board Year Highlights

2. Important Dates

3. A Message from our Advisor

Amanda Tendler, President:

As outgoing EPC President, I am pleased and honored to have served on this incredible board and

represent one of the largest organizations here at Emory. The women that encompass this organization

are inspirational, setting a positive example of female leadership both in the Greek system as well as

throughout the Emory community. Over this past year, the Panhellenic council has continued our

traditions while simultaneously creating initiatives. The Emory Panhellenic Scholarship, an initiative

that has begun this year, is a scholarship awarded to chapter members every semester that face financial

barriers of being in a Greek organization. The scholarship awarded goes towards a member's dues to

her chapter. The Sorority Network Liaison program is EPC's way to address the sexual violence our

community faces and provides a proactive measure to ensure our members are well educated and

provided with the necessities to feel safe. Traditions such as Greek Week are continuous programs that

exemplify our council's dedication to the collaboration between NPHC, IFC, and MGC. Overall, this

past year exemplifies the council's dedication to addressing the issues that the Greek and Emory

community face. Being EPC President is an opportunity that I will never forget and one that I will

carry with me into the professional world.

Molly Tallman, VP of Standards:

I’ve had a great year as EPC’s Vice President of Standards! Some of the highlights during this term have been

Novemberfest, Recruitment 2015, Greek Week, the Woman’s Health and Leadership Forum, and my time on the

Sorority and Fraternity Life Review Board, working with students from all four councils to improve the Greek

community and hold our peers accountable for their actions. As I transition into my second term as VP Standards, I’m

excited to work with Pi Beta Phi, prepare for Recruitment 2016 (yes, already!), and continue to improve our amazing

community through organizational documents, the peer review process and more. This coming year I’d love to see the

Greek community engage more with the Sorority and Fraternity Life Review Board and come talk to us about their

standards, conduct, events, and anything else so we can work together to prevent negative incidents and collaborate on

how to best advance our community.

Stephanie Fang, VP of Finance:

Serving on Emory Panhellenic Council this past year allowed me to better understand how our Panhellenic community

grows stronger when all the chapters work together towards common goals. It was a great experience collaborating with

women from different Panhellenic organizations on the Executive Board to put together events and initiatives that

positively impacted our community. The highlight of my time as EPC Vice President of Finance was writing the

application for a brand-new Panhellenic scholarship program and helping to launch the pilot at the end of the last

semester.

Cori Newman, VP of Recruitment:

My term as Vice President of Recruitment on the Emory Panhellenic Council has been one of the most challenging, yet

rewarding experiences of my Emory career. When I began running Recruitment I had no idea the magnitude of the

responsibility I took on, however the support I received from the entirety of the Emory community made it possible. I

had the privilege of connecting with and working with Emory faculty from all over campus including CAPs, International

Life, and Residence Life as we developed a new Pi Chi program for this past year. The Office of Sorority and Fraternity

Life staff invested so much time and energy in EPC. I was in the office almost daily and always had someone to answer

my questions and think through long-term projects with me. Finally, the assistance and encouragement of my Panhellenic

Executive Board throughout the year led to the ultimate success of our 2015 Recruitment season. I am thrilled to have

placed 375 women into our amazing Panhellenic community and to see our council continue to grow. I am beyond

excited for the new executive board to take on their leadership roles and to continue to make improvements to our

council. I would like to thank the Emory Panhellenic community for allowing me to serve on our board; it was truly a

wonderful experience.

Manisha Palla, VP of Community Engagement:

Being a part of EPC has allowed me to meet so many wonderful women, make lifelong friends, and become more

involved in our community. This past semester alone, Greek women have put in over 1,900 hours of community service

and raised over 20,000 dollars for various charities. As VP of Community Engagement, I have enjoyed watching the

increased cohesion and collaboration between the seven sororities and the greater Emory community on philanthropic

initiatives such as Campus Kitchens, TableTalk, and the Greek Week Day of Service.

Olivia Czufin, VP of Education:

This was a very exciting and busy year for Emory Panhellenic Council. As Vice President of Education, I worked with

the Office of Health Promotion to develop a program, called “The Talk”, that engaged women on topics ranging from

healthy relationships, consent and sex positivity, creating space for a dialogue that is deemed taboo. The Talk has

morphed into the Sorority Network Liaison, a similar program that is now instituted as a bi-weekly discussion in each

sorority chapter. We are excited to continue this program this semester, improving and evolving to fit the needs of our

women.

We also planned a Greek Day of Service for over 500 Greek men and women. Members helped pull weeds at Brightside

farm, clean up at a cat shelter and hosted a cheer station for the local Winship 5k benefitting cancer research. This new

day was revolutionary in the community it reached, bringing together all four Greek councils together in a positive and

productive manner. I am pleased to conclude this term and look forward to continuing programs while also seizing new

opportunities in the coming year.
