5th Grade Band The 5th Grade Band did an excellent job performing Jingle Bells, Hanukkah Oh Hanukkah, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and Up on the Housetop. The winds did an excellent job playing together with a focused, controlled sound and were supported by the steady beats played by our drummers. All

members should be proud of their progress so far this year!

6th Grade Band The 6th Grade Band demonstrated understanding of a variety of musical concepts at the concert. Swinging rhythms, syncopation, and independence of parts are all elements that could be heard in their performances of Let It Snow, Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer, and Frosty the Snow Man. Individual sections were also given a chance to shine with the flute/clarinet/drum performance of Deck the Halls, and the sax/brass/drum performance of The Dreidel Song.

Congratulations on a great performance! 7th/8th Grade Band The 7th/8th Grade Band has shown tremendous improvement ranging from their performing abilities to their professionalism and maturity during rehearsals and concerts. After they got comfortable with Hanukkah Dance and Santa’s Big Adventure, I decided to challenge them with a complicated arrangement of Aladdin. The piece presents numerous musical challenges and they certainly rose to the occasion! Bravo!

Jazz Band The Jazz Band rocked their portion of the Winter Concert! During their performance you could hear rich, jazzy harmonies throughout their swinging waltz, My Favorite Things, and funky groove and strong horns in Uptown Funk! With such little rehearsal time, I commend every member in the jazz band who needed to practice and learn their own parts in order to make the performance a success. Great job!
