Hi friends,

We are at that exciting time of the year where the season is changing and friends are arriving from all over the country. It’s our fourth year here at GMC and we are delighted to be serving you all. We were reflecting on how the Lord had ordered our steps to be in this beautiful part of his vineyard and we are trusting that we will be with you for at least another 6 years from 2018 – 2023. The time has gone by so quickly and we have made wonderful friends and shared in the highs and lows of your lives. It has been a jour-ney of discovery for us and we really sense that in this new season our Lord is going to do im-measurably more than we can ask for or imagine (Ephesians 3:20)

We want to thank everyone of you for your support and love for us as a family. We constantly have been reminded about the call to be here and the strength that comes from above. As we look forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, may we put Him at the centre of all that we do.

Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

2017 wow what a blessed year. How incredible it was been to be part of it. Thank you to every-body who has supported us at children’s church, from sewing bean bags, helping with holiday club to singing with us at a Sunday morning service. Thank you to all my dedicated leaders, you have been so inspiring to work with and I just love your commitment and love for the kids.

2018 I know will be a year filled with God’s grace and provision and that the deeper we go in relationship with him the more we will discover His heart and become more like Him. Can’t wait. Love Gayle

Celebrating Christmas with Carols It has been a dream of the youth to record their own music for quite some time, and now that dream has finally become a reality! We have been recording a Christmas Carol album for the past two months, and are proud to say it will be released this Sunday, 3rd December! The CD’s will be for sale for R80 at the church after the services and the proceeds will go towards the youth minibus.

The songs we recorded are: 1. Oh Holy Night with Jade van Blerk 2. Joy to the World with Tyler van Blerk & Josh Scholtz 3. Silent Night with Nicole Moss 4. Little Drummer Boy with Joseph Barrett & Matthew Van Helsdingen 5. Oh Come all ye Faithful with Rachel Alexander 6. The First Noel with Adrienne Vercueil 7. We Wish you a Merry Christmas, recorded at a Wednesday night Youth with everyone. The youth have worked very hard and are very excited about this, and we’d love for everyone to hear our music!

We were meant to pick 3 highlights from the year but there were too many so we have 3.5 highlights.

The Leadership Track- This was our first year of the Leadership Track and its been such an incredible year! We have had such a great team and its been so amazing to spend time together and grow as a family. We have seen them grow in their relationship with the Lord and they have been such an amazing support and help for us. We will be sad to see some of them go but we are very excited for what the Lord has planned for next year!

Holiday club and Herold Outreach- Holiday club and Herold outreach were so amazing this year! We couldn't pick between them. During holiday club we had 30 incredible leaders who used their week off to lead 200 kiddies in a holiday program. The week was tiring but we had so much fun! Herold outreach happened in October, the reason it was a highlight was because of the youth we took with us! It was a week full of fun, but also a chance for us to minister to the children in the local community.

The growth in the youth worship team- Finally this year has seen a huge growth in our youth worship team. Not necessarily in numbers; although we did see that too. But more in the standard of music and their dedication to worship. Its been amazing to work with them this year and see them really seek to know God and worship Him.

We can’t believe this year is almost over, there are so many highlights from this year, it was hard to pick our favourites! God has been so good.

FEEDBACK FROM YOUTH MINISTRY

Kerri- Anne Jeffery will be joining the GMC staff team in the New Year. She grew up close to the church and joined the youth in her teens. Now she is a qualified teacher and loves to serve, teach and encourage others. She enjoys spending time with her family and likes going on a camping trip every year with them. Her hobbies outside of work is running, “I shuffle (it's like running but slower.) Outdoorsy stuff - beach, camping, road trips. Big EPL football fan - Chelsea! And Baking”. Her heart for the New Year is to help encourage people to use their spiritual gifts in church; “God has given each of us gifts we can and should share.” She also hopes to help the 20s/30s (and others) find their 'niche' in the church. Kerri- Anne loves our congregations and says it feels like home and she is excited to join in with us full time next year as our new connect person. We are looking forward to having her on our team and bringing her skills with her.
