committees of the Moraga Movers because it will be responsible for coordinating the entertainment at our lunch and dinners. Please email or contact one of the board members if you are interested in helping out the Moraga Movers by serving on this committee or if you can nominate someone who would be willing to assist John. Thank you, John, for all of your hard work and all of the wonderful entertainment you have arranged for the Moraga Movers. We wish you great success in your new role as Area Governor of SIR.

Many of you have heard that Larry Swindell is having challenges with his health. On behalf of the Moraga Movers I want to say thank you to Larry for sharing his wisdom of the theatre with us for so many years. Our thoughts and prayers are with Larry and his family.

Lunch Reservations

Reservations must be made no later than Wednesday, December 6th by midnight. Those of you who have Internet access can go to www.moragamovers.org to make your reservations. Those without Internet access can call (925) 376-6622. Reservations must be honored and paid for whether you attend or not unless the reservation is canceled by Wednesday, December 6th before midnight. The price of the meal for members is $20 and for guests it is $30 (which includes gratuity and tax). It is payable at the entrance. Please pay by check. It helps our bookkeeping.

If you make your reservations by telephone, you will be talking to an answering machine and you should: • State your name(s) clearly and slowly, spelling first and last; • Provide your telephone number. If we can’t understand your message, it may be the only way we can

identify you; • State clearly the names of other persons, your spouse/partner or other members or guests for whom you

are making reservations; • We will not call you to confirm your reservation unless we have a problem with your message.

MEMBERSHIP NEWS

Norma Claassen We are closing in on the remaining months of 2017. The deadline for your membership renewal dues for 2018 is January 30, 2018. The dues have not changed: a single member is $25 and a couple is $45. Please fill out the renewal form at the end of this newsletter and send it with your dues to Norma Claassen, c/o Moraga Movers, P.O. Box 13, Moraga CA. 94556-0013. Or, if you prefer you can submit the form and pay your dues at the Holiday Luncheon in December or the dinner in January. Don’t forget if you refer a new member to Moraga Movers you have a chance to win a year of ‘free” meals. Just have the new applicant add your name to the “referred by” on the application. The drawing is held at the end of year at the Holiday luncheon. Please remember that the guest fee to attend the monthly dinner meetings is $30. More reason to have your guest join the Moraga Movers. Also, if your guest does not attend and you did not cancel the reservation, you will be billed for the dinner. (We are required to give an accurate count to the caterer and have to pay for the meals that are not consumed.)

BRIDGE

Every Monday afternoon, including holidays, bridge players meet at Moraga Royale from 12:30 to 3:30 PM. Coffee, tea and refreshments are served. An individual contribution of $1.00 is collected to provide for refreshments and prize money at your table. These games are sponsored by the Moraga Movers for its own membership. The generous goodwill of Moraga Royale is greatly appreciated. For more information, please call Felicia Teller at 376-7079.

CLASSIC MOVIES Larry Swindell.

The Moraga Movers' Christmas movie on Wednesday, December 20 is MGM's faithful 1938 version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol with Reginald Owen as Scrooge. Screening time is 2 PM at the Rheem Theatre. It will be presented without an introductory commentary.

Bocce ball is over for the season, but it will resume in May of 2018.

Gentle Yoga with Mindi, Thursday December 7 at 1 PM

Join us for a gentle yoga class designed for improving flexibility and joint health. This class is open to all and beginners are encouraged to attend. Bring your own mat if you would like to use one, however it is not necessary. Loose, comfortable, clothing is recommended.

This presentation will include skills on bandaging small and large wounds, treatment for heart attacks, shock, and heat related emergencies, as well as other emergencies that are common in this area. Brian South, Moraga Police Department Date: Thursday, February 15, 2018 Location: Hacienda de las Flores, Moraga Brian South of the Moraga Police Department will discuss the current scams and frauds targeting seniors and how best to avoid being duped. Fees: $10

CPR Anytime Class Presenter: Pete Stathakos, Fire District Aide, Moraga-Orinda Fire District Date: Thursday, March 15, 2018 Location: Orinda Community Center, Room #8 It is a known fact that the initiation of early CPR increases the survival rate of patients who suffer a cardiac arrest. The combination of community CPR education, early defibrillation and advanced life support has been proven to save lives. This CPR Anytime class is for anyone who wants to learn basic CPR skills, choking relief and AED awareness, and who does not need a course completion card to meet a job requirement. Fee: $10
