Pastor’s Musing A woman was married to a miserly man. She had to fight for every-thing she got. One day she told her husband she was going window shopping. He said, “Look, but don’t buy.” A few hours later she came home with a new dress. “What is this?” her husband fumed, “I thought I told you to look but not buy.” “Well,” she explained, “I saw

this lovely dress and thought I’d try it on, and when I did the devil said, ‘It sure looks good on you.’” “Right then you should have told him, ‘Get thee behind me, Satan.’” her husband exclaimed. “I did,” she answered, “but when he got behind me he said, ‘It sure looks good from the back too.’”

Happy New Year and every blessing to you and your family in 2016!

As your Pastor, I want to take this opportunity to sincerely THANK all of you for your commitment, support, encouragement and interest in our parish community of faith that we call Saint Ambrose. Personally, I want to THANK all of you for the beautiful gifts, cards and prayers, it is overwhelming. My home was flooded with good wishes and gifts!!!! The Lord has truly blessed me to be privileged to share your lives. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to all our wonderful people who helped make our church so warm and beautifully decorated. To our many volunteers in our Ministries—our Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, Altar Servers, Sacristans, Christmas Elves, the St. Vincent de Paul Society for feeding the poor, and especially our Music Ministry, for spending so much of their time and talent during this busy season. And, of course, to Santa for helping us to remember the real

meaning of Christmas, especially to all who donated to our Angel Tree. Your outpouring of love and generosity to the needy children was overwhelming. And to you, the parishioners, who week after week attest to your faith by attending mass and supporting your parish—to each one of you. THANK YOU. 2015 was a year of loss, economic difficulties, illness and heartache for many, but it was also another growth year for the family of Saint Ambrose. Hopefully for all of us, we are stronger in our faith, understanding, and love of Jesus in the church. Be assured of my prayers and commitment to you and yours during 2016!!!! Please pray for me, as I will pray for you.

A year is a gift from God, a treasure of time and life. A year is an invitation from God to be happy, to live.

How beautiful that we can live this year together at St. Ambrose as one People, As God’s People.

Bible Study – Exodus: Called to Freedom Do you want to experience true freedom? Have you ever wondered freedom means, and how to find it? Exodus is often seen as the defining moment in Israel’s history, when God called Israel out of slavery in Egypt to freedom. The story of Exodus isn’t only Israel’s story, however -- it’s also our story. Exodus: Called to Freedom looks through the lens of Christ and the Church to show how God ultimately desired to free us from the deadly grip of sin so that we could have authentic freedom. Exodus: Called to Freedom will be presented from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, January 5 through March 22, in the Parish Hall Upper Room. Register in the parish office by December 27 for workbook discount. Contact Bill Whiting at 561-368-6531 or email [email protected].
