Weier, a former Robert Morris–Illinois University star, took a 218-197 lead over Rash after their first game and locked up the $40,000 first prize with a 235-234 margin of victory in the second game. Weier advanced to the championship match by eliminating former Robert Morris teammate Marshall Kent of Yakima, Wash., 542-516, in the semifinal round while Rash held off Denmark’s Thomas Larsen, 481-467, in the other semifinal match. In the semifinal round, Kent threw back-to-back 258 games at Weier, but Weier answered with games of 264 and 278 to win their match. Rash, a nine-time PBA Tour title winner, took a 57-pin lead with a 267-210 performance in the first game, and outlasted Larsen, who rallied in the second game, 257-214. Most of the PBA players who bowled in Qatar traveled to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the 9th annu- al PBA-World Bowling Tour Kingdom International Open before flying to Reno, Nev., for the GEICO PBA World Series of Bowling VII pre- sented by Silver Legacy at the National Bowling Stadium. ARLINGTON, Texas - Zayed Sports City's Khalifa International Bowling Centre again opened its doors to the best  bowlers in the world for the 2015 World Bowling Women's Championships. The top women from 30 coun- tries, 147 competitors in all, made their way to Abu Dhabi for the first time since 1999, while the city and bowling center provided a memorable experience for com-  petitors and fans at last year's World Bowling Men's Championships. The 2015 World Women's Championships will run until Dec. 13. Bowlers will compete for medals in six events - singles, doubles, trios, team, all-events and Masters match play. Team USA did win the team gold medal at the 2011 event in Hong Kong. Korea topped the medal table at the 2013 World Championships with four gold medals, two silver and a  bronze. In 1999, Korea outdistanced Colombia to win the team event, while the United States finished third. Korea also won trios. BOWL FOR THE CURE FABULOUS FOUR ESSAY CONTEST IS UNDERWAY

ARLINGTON, Texas – For two consecutive years, the Bowl for theCure® Fabulous Four essay contest has sent a group of four women on anexciting bowling adventure topped off by taking part in the United StatesBowling Congress Women’s Championships. Not only is the Fabulous Four contest returning for another year, but the

final stop of the ultimate bowling trip will be Las Vegas and the 2016Women’s Championships at the new Bowling Plaza at South Point Hotel,Casino and Spa.

Bowl for the Cure® is a year-round fundraising initiative sponsored byUSBC in partnership with Susan G. Komen®. The Fabulous Four essaycontest is designed to raise awareness about breast cancer and help honor four remarkable women who have gone through a breast cancer diagnosis.

Angel Crosby of Garrett, Indiana, was one of last year’s Fabulous Four winners. The group helped kick off the 2015 Women’s Championships bythrowing out the ceremonial first ball.

“It’s absolutely amazing,” said Crosby after bowling in the event. “It’s been a long road to get here, and I’m glad that I kept the fight. I wouldn’tchange this for the world. I’m still in awe of everything that’s happenedhere, and for us getting to go out there and throw that first ball … that wasa little scary, but I wouldn’t trade that for the world, either.”

This year’s Fabulous Four essay contest, open to women who have beenimpacted by breast cancer and/or have been involved in supporting thefight against breast cancer, is now underway. To enter, go toBOWL.com/FabulousFour and submit an essay.

The essay submission period will close Dec. 16 with entries going to aspecial selection panel that will include previous Fabulous Four winnersalong with Susan G. Komen® and USBC staff. Contest winners will beannounced in late January.

The Fabulous Four winners will receive a five-day trip that will start inthe Dallas/Fort Worth area with a tour of Komen headquarters and a spe-cial celebration dinner. The group also will go the International BowlingCampus in Arlington for a tour of the International Bowling Museum andHall of Fame, and then receive lessons from the Team USA staff at theInternational Training and Research Center.

Youth Travelers Post 41 DeucesBy Vince AlbrechtFAIRLAWN, NJ - In the Stan Niemiec Youth Travel League’s firstappearance of the season at Fair Lawn Lanes, the house plastic-stickssuccumbed meekly to the onslaught of the young keglers, surrenderingforty-one “200s”, three “700s” and five “600s”.

Three players flirted with perfection-Holiday II’s Esteban Garcia withthe front seven, teammate Tom Chamberlain with eight and Boonton’sErik Kattermann the first eleven, stopped by a cross-over pocket 6-pin.Tom Chamberlain lifted his average to 214 with his stellar 236-233-268-737, the session’s best threesome. His Holiday II squad flushed the pindeck with a closing 891 net in a sweep of seven points from the vacan-cy. In addition to Tom’s 268, Esteban posted 236, Wade Chamberlain194 [following a second game 202] and Jared Duncan 193.

When the dust of obliterated pins had settled, Erik Kattermann’s 231-200-299-730 put Boonton over the top, snapping a seven-game losingskein with five of seven points against Bowler City I. Despite continuing to put up huge numbers, Hi-Tor dropped its thirdconsecutive contest, this one to a torrid Fair Lawn team which pre-dictably shot well on its home turf. Hi-Tor’s posts were impressiveas usual as Brandon Smith hit 235-257-214-706, Nick Varano 234-214-206-654, Johnny Toscano 237-204-621 and 14-year-old Joseph Ardiriwith a closing 191 single.

Bowler City III moved into a three-way tie for second place by knock-

ing Bowler City II from the top rung, 2603-2493 behind Nathan Tombo230, Derek Lewandowski 213 and Gianni Calzadilla 199-189. BC II’s

best was Matt Burzynski’s third game 213.Rounding out the day’s action, Montvale benefited from a clutch tenth

Two-time USBC Open Championshipstitlist Steve Kloempken of Pleasant View,Utah, will be enshrined in the OutstandingUSBC Performance category, ProfessionalBowlers Association senior standout HarrySullins of Chesterfield Township, Michigan,will become the newest name in theVeterans category and longtime bowlingwriter Joan Romeo of Van Nuys, California,will be recognized for years of service to the

bowling industry.The committee also slated eight bowlers

for the Superior Performance national ballotthat will be voted on by a panel of USBCHall of Fame members, board members andveteran bowling writers.

The men's ballot includes Mike Durbin of Livingston, Texas; David Ozio and Mark Williams of Beaumont, Texas; RandyPedersen of Clermont, Florida; MikeScroggins of Amarillo, Texas and DannyWiseman of Baltimore.

The two competitors on the women's bal-lot are Kim Adler of Melbourne, Florida,and Tammy Turner of West Palm Beach,Florida.

The induction ceremony will take placeApril 28 at the 2016 USBC Convention inLas Vegas and will inc lude those elected for Superior Performance.

Steve KloempkenThe 45-year-old right-hander's balanced

resume includes international success as a past member of Team USA, a memorablecollegiate stint at Wichita State and two vic-tories on the sport's biggest stage at theUSBC Open Championships.

Kloempken's two appearances on Team

USA (1991, 1994), were highlighted bydoubles and trios gold medals at the 1991World Bowling Men's Championships inSingapore. That momentum carried over tohis collegiate career, where he helped theShockers to three consecutive victories atthe Intercollegiate Team Championshipsfrom 1993-1995.

In 27 years at the Open Championships,Kloempken has a 213.5 average and wontitles in Team All-Events in 1993 andRegular All-Events in 2003. He has sevenother top-10 finishes.

Harry SullinsSullins, a 58-year-old right-hander, will be

the 50th bowler inducted in the Veteranscategory of the USBC Hall of Fame.

His resume includes five ProfessionalBowlers Association national titles, the firstin 1986, along with 12 regional victories.He also has found continued success on thePBA50 Tour, earning three national titlesand more than a dozen regional wins. Hislone major championship was the 2009 PBASenior World Championship.

Sullins is known for his longevity andowns the PBA record for consecutive tour-nament appearances with 239 from 1986-1993.

As a state and local standout, Sullins hasearned 10 city championships and nine statetitles, which helped earn him induction intothe Metro Detroit Hall of Fame (2002) andMichigan State Bowling Association Hall of Fame (2003).

Joan RomeoRomeo has worked in various roles sup-

porting the International Bowling MediaAssociation, World Bowling, InternationalBowling Hall of Fame and Museum,California Bowling Writers and the TeamUSA program.

She has served as president (2012-2015)and vice president (2010-2012) of theIBMA, president of the California BowlingWriters, an executive coordinator role for World Bowling and as a trustee to theIBM/HOF.

Romeo's continued dedication to the sporthas earned her some special awards, includ-ing the California Women's BowlingAssociation Distinguished Service Award,Columbia 300 Humanitarian Award,Bowling Writers Association of AmericaMeritorious Service Award and BWAAPresident's Award.

Famer Robin Romeo and Tori Romeo, whoalso competed professionally.Through 2015, there are 412 members of

the USBC Hall of Fame - 215 in Superior Performance, 116 in Meritorious Service,49 in Veterans, 20 in Pioneers and 12 inOutstanding USBC Performance.
