Thank you to everyone who participated in the very successful Holidays Around the World event. The evening was a beautiful

celebration of diversity in our community.

Wednesday, December 21st is J. Michael Lunsford night at Manhattan Pizza in South Riding. A portion of the profits from the entire

evening – dine-in as well as carry-out and delivery – will be donated to our school. So whether you are busy with holiday

preparations, celebrating the start of a long break from school, or just not in the mood to cook, please purchase your meal from

Manhattan Pizza that night and help the J. Michael Lunsford PTA!

LUNSFORD VOLUNTEERS Special thanks to all those who assisted with the fundraiser order distribution, vision and hearing screening, Career Day,

Holidays Around the World, and to our library volunteers! Your contributions of time and talent are very much

appreciated! Every individual volunteer has something special to contribute to our students and school community.

Please make a personal commitment to volunteering at least 3 hours of your time at JML this year. There are many ways

to get involved.

Volunteer Email List

We have approximately 140 volunteers signed up to receive volunteer request emails. That may seem like a lot, but with

a student population of over 1000, it’s not that large a percentage. If you haven’t done so already, please join the

volunteer email list. You will be among the first to hear about volunteer opportunities at the school. There is never an

obligation to sign up and you can choose the assignments that fit your schedule and interests. Email Lesli McGrath at

We are currently seeking volunteers for the following events or activities:

Library:

Volunteers are needed to shelve library books and to complete laminating, binding, and copying jobs. These volunteer

jobs are during the school day, so only adults may sign up for these times.

Treasurer Report

Lunsford PTA has seen a successful first 15 weeks since we opened our school. In July, we set a goal to raise

approximately $ 70,000. As of December we have brought in a little over 50%. We are working on various PTA

programs, fundraisers and activities to close the deficit to reach our financial goals. During our fall fundraiser we raised

$24,500 net profits. Currently we have an operating income of $40,000 of which we estimate paying around $30,000*

for fundraiser items purchased through KNA. Any remaining funds will be used as investment towards enrichment for

students and faculty program support. The PTA membership at Lunsford continues to grow. If you have not already, we

urge you to join the PTA. Your membership will give back to students all year round with items such as Career

Explorations, 8th Grade Promotion, field trips, Guidance programs, PBIS, Art, clubs and help with teacher grants. You

can download PTA membership by clicking here and send it in with your student. * Estimate

FUNDRAISER

The PTA is pleased to announce that our Fall Fundraiser has come to an end! Backordered items were

delivered to students on Friday, December 9. Invitations and permission slips have been issued for the Limo

Lunch and the End-Of-Fundraiser Party. Both of those will take place on Thursday, December 15. If there

any remaining questions or issues, or if your child did not receive a ticket to the fundraising reward party and

you believe this is an error please feel to contact Edna Naim at vpfundraisingjmlpta@gmail.com . (Students

who sold 10 items before September 15 or at least 12 items by the end of the fundraiser are qualified to attend the party.)

So far this school year, we have collected 2,100 Box

Tops. Keep collecting those Box Tops and look for

details about our first Box Tops contest coming in

January. If every student brought in ten Box Tops

we could easily raise over $1,000 for our school.

Ask your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers

if they would be willing to collect Box Tops as well.

Membership Don't forget to join! Become a member of the J. Michael Lunsford PTA! We are very proud of the cooperative spirit

that exists within the school among the students, teachers, administrators, and parents, facilitated by the PTA.

Lunsford Middle School PTA is very fortunate to have such an actively involved and passionate community who are

invested in their students and their academic experience and enrichment. We projected 540 members this charter

year and we currently have 459 members. Only 81 more members to meet our goal but we need your help to get

there!

Throughout the year, funds raised via PTA membership dues and various PTA sponsored fundraising events go

toward numerous programs that benefit our 1160+ students including guest speakers and assemblies, after school

clubs and activities, field trips, Career Explorations, Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS), supplementing

classroom activities, and adding on to the Promethean systems.
