Kent Prairie PTA Newsletter Report from last PTA meeting We elected our nominating committee, appointed a financial review committee, and we now have over 100 PTA members. We also added a line item to the budget for technology. We are hoping to earn some extra money this year and purchase technology for the school. Thanks for all the parents and staff who attended! Holiday Shoppe It's coming! The Holiday Shoppe is just around the corner! Monday Dec 10th - Wed Dec 12th. Open from 9am-4pm. Volunteers needed: Friday Dec 7 - 2-6pm in the Learning Lab, for set-up. Monday, Tues and Wed, we need about 8 volunteers, for each AM and PM shift. If you are available and interested in helping out, just email Jesica the times you can make it. [email protected] Apparel update Our last order has been processed and shirts will be in by Dec 21st, before kids leave for winter break. Fall Fundraiser All products were delivered the last week of November. We want to give a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped with delivery day and setting up all the boxes. And for all the parents who came and picked up all their orders. Love and Logic Our last class just wrapped up, and our next class will be in February in the evening. Toy Sale On Dec 3rd, our PTA sold gently used toys as a service to the community. Total sales were $87.50, twice as much as our previous year. Presidents Elementary School PTA partnered with KP PTA and we had a mountain of donations. The money was split between the two schools. Special thanks to Ann Zastoupil, from Presidents PTA, for bringing donations and staying through the entire event. Also, special thanks to Jennifer, Heather, Jesica, Kim, and Guy for all the help with setting up and making this event a success! Yearbook The yearbook cover has been chosen and the artwork is posted on the KPE PTA Facebook page. Congrats to Joseph in Mrs. Wood's class for winning the cover contest. Yearbook sales will be in early Feb, with a tentative due date of 2/11/2013. Price will remain the same as last year at $14. Thanks to those who volunteered to judge the yearbook cover art. It was a tough decision as we had 67 entries!

Reflections: The Reflections finalists have also been chosen. All artwork entries are posted in the main hall at KPE. Feel free to walk down the hall and read the comments posted from our fabulous judges, the members of the Arlington Arts Council! The finalists have stars on their entries. They will move on to council level judging on Friday Dec 7th. All other participants will have their artwork returned to them with the judge's comments attached. Congratulations to everyone that entered! It was a very difficult decision, which means you all did SO well! Focus Day January 24th, PTA members will gather on the Capitol Steps in Olympia to rally for our kids. Please consider joining us and advocating for your child, and all children in our state. Silent auction During our carnival March 22nd we be hosting a silent auction in the library to raise money for our school. Please consider your connections and your resources and see if there is an item you can donate to our efforts. Superintendent meeting Our Superintendent has invited the whole community to attend the annual state of the district address. Thursday, January 31st 6:00pm at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center at AHS.

Hockey night: Our PTA is coordinating this fun family night. Come to a Silvertips game Feb. 16th. Seattle Thunderbirds @ Everett Silvertips. Cowbell night: Free cowbell to first 1,000 people. Get a child's ticket for $5.00 with each adult ticket purchased for $14.00. A portion of the proceeds comes back to our PTA.

Membership It is not too late to join the team! Everybody is welcome. Join Today. Forms are available in the school office. $10 for one, or $19 for a couple.

Coffee and Conversation You are invited to attend this informal group, at Kent Prairie, in the staff room, to chat, ask questions, or share ideas. 9:15 am on Friday, Dec 14th.

Carnival Carnival is a go! We have chosen a "SPACE" theme. Mark your calendars for March 22nd 5-8pm! We will need many volunteers for running games at Carnival, and also we will need volunteers for decorating on March 15th.
