Deconstruction of magazine coversThe main image covers the masthead as it shows that the main subject is more important than the title which suggests that the magazine might already be well known.

The masthead is blue which links in with some of the other text and the free CD which is advertised in the bottom left corner, also the masthead is covered which suggests that the title isnt as important as it may already be well known.

The main cover line is in the centre of the page making the main subject of this magazine visible; also the colour of the main cover line matches the background of the image (white) and the pink matches border of the magazine and the front mans beanie.

The cover lines are placed to the side of the page as these are also the key features of the magazine; however they arent the main subject of the magazine so the text and the images are smaller. The text is kept to the colour scheme as the text is either in black, blue or pink with the occasional appearance of the colours white or yellow

Sub-head: This tells the reader why the main cover line is mentioned and gives a slight teaser of whats to come within the magazine

Barcode and essential information: this is important because it allows the publisher to know how many copies of the magazine is sold, also above the barcode is the essential information in a smaller font as it isnt as important as the rest of the information on the page, within the essential information it mentions the price, the website linked into the magazine, the date and the issue number

The colour scheme is quite limited as it is sticking to 5 colours (pink, blue, black, white and yellow. The main cover line is a mix of pink and white, this can also link in with the border at the top of the cover and some of the cover lines, as well as being linked into the colour of the front mans beanie in the main image.

The masthead is a bright electric blue, the word METAL is noticed more clearly than the rest of the title, and this indicated what type of music is within this magazine. The masthead is partially covered by the main image which may suggest that the image is more important than the masthead as the masthead only tells us what the magazine is called where as the image shows an insight of what youll find within the magazine and also may indicate that the magazine might be well known. The image of Matt Tuck is in the centre of the page; his head is covering the masthead. He is outlined by an electric blue and his left eye is also an electric blue which matches the masthead and the cover lines.

The main cover line is in the centre of the front cover and is much larger than the rest of the text on the front page (excluding the masthead); this gives us an insight of what is within the magazine. This also matches the bright eclectic blue from the masthead.

The cover lines are in a smaller font size than the main cover line and are to the sides of the main cover line, these also give us an insight of what to fin within the magazine, these have no connections to the main cover line. The sub-head works similarly to the cover lines as it tells us what is to be found within the magazine and also tells us why the main cover line has been used.

The barcode is there to help the publisher know how many copies are sold and also within the barcode there is the essential information such as the date, the price of the magazine and the issue number.

Colour scheme: the colour scheme for this issue is a restricted palette; it is made up of 4 colours: blue, black, white and yellow. The blue is a bright electric blue which stands out from the black background.

The masthead is in a bright red which makes it clear to see, also it is covered slightly by the main images on the magazine. |This indicates that the masthead isnt as important as the magazine is already well known. The main image is in the centre of the page and takes up the majority of the page, this shows what the main subjects of the magazine are going to be; also the main image also covers the masthead which indicates that the image is more important than the masthead.

The colour scheme is kept to a simple primary colour setting, with the addition of a bit of black and white, this therefore indicating that the magazine is aimed at a younger audience (teenagers). The main cover line is a bright yellow which stands out from the rest of the text as it is an eye catching colour. Also it is much bigger than the rest of the text indicating that this is the main subject.Cover lines are smaller than the main cover line; this is because they arent as big of news as the main cover line, and also they are just brief meaning the people viewing the magazine have to read the magazine to find out what the magazine is aboutThe barcode is essential to the publisher as it allows them to know how many copies of the magazine are sold; also it holds essential information such as the issue number, the price and the website address
