Coloured Khadi printing
• Yellow,Chandan,Kesaria • Dischage or Non Discharge Recipe for discharge on Polyester TiO2 35 % Pidicryl FL9400 40% Emulsifier 2% PVAc emulsion 3% Stock paste 10-12 % Pigment Yellow GRKW 10 % ---------------------------------------------- • Safoline DS 2-5 % ( to be added to above
after dissolving in water) • Fixer to be added at time of printing
Cracking Khadi print
October 2013 Dr Sanjiv Kamat
Titanium dioxide or Khadi, plain or with colour. The key factor in this is proper selection of binder. The binder film should have proper adhesion to the substrate and at the same time the film should crack uniformly on drying.

Eco Brosso Printing • Burn Out: Usually on
PES/Cotton/viscose blend. A strongly acidic paste Sulphuric acid, Al-sulphate mixtures are used. Dry at 100 C ,cure 120 C and wash – peroxide. The strong acid burns away the cellulose to leave a transparent polyester skeleton
Brosso like Printing (eco brosso)
• Ready to print paste Pidicron Transprint K
• Mixture of specialty polymers imparting semitransparent effect
• Print - Dry -Cure

Flock Printing • Flock Types: Viscose, Nylon ,
Acrylic
• Printing method: All in one Print , spray Flock/ electrostatic m/c, Coat , Flock
• Substrates – PE, Cotton , PV , Nylon , Acrylic
• Wide variety of flock binders for all combinations of substrates and flocking material
• Properties of Flock Binder –
Heavy Tack, Pliability of film, Feel of film

Zari / Glitter Printing
• Uses a coarse reflective glitter to give sparkle effect (Fine powders of Polyester films)
• Printing - Binder 80 % + Zari 20 %
Coat/ print Binder , spray and press Zari
• Print – Dry – Cure

Metal Powder Printing • Similar to pigment but uses
metallic powders
• Commercial Grades available – Mixtures of metallic powders
• Mesh size – 20- 120 ( Suitable for tex printing>60 )
• Critical parameters –
Fastness/ Choking/ Blackening of prints
• Gold Binder 80 %
+ Metal powder 20 %+ Fixer 3 %
• Print – Dry – Cure
• Smooth in texture compared to glitter
October 2013 Dr Sanjiv Kamat
Mica ( Pearl ) Printing
• Titanium coated with mica
• Print Paste Recipe –
Pearl Powder 20 %
Binder KPL 60 %
Emulsifier 2 %
Stir mildly , add
Kerosene 18 % under stirrer
Fixer - 3 % at the time of printing.Print – Dry – Cure
• Pigment dispersion may be added to above to get coloured Pearl
October 2013 Dr Sanjiv Kamat
Foam, Puff , Printing
• Foam/ raise – Based on “Expand / blow “ chemicals
• Each commercial grade specify “ Blow temp “ which is normally between 100-140 C. This temp is critical for the effect
• Ready to use products
• Popular In-house recipe used by Mumbai printers –
Binder 9400 60 %
Foam Powder 15 %
PVAc emulsion 25 %
Dilution to desired levels possible with water based paste or with white khadi

Plastisol Printing
• Bright, soft, stretchable prints on dark dyed fabrics
• Typical Composition
TiO2 or similar Opaque material
High performance Binder
Elasticized homo-polymer of PVAC or PVC
Additives for Gloss/Matt/raise/shine /softness
• Aqueous - Print -Dry-Cure
Binder + Pigment emulsion
• Oil Based - Each colour needs intermediate flash curing

Foil Printing • Adhesive printed on to the fabric, then
silver/gold coated polyester foil is pressed against the adhesives
• Thickness - 15 microns, width 60-1500mm
• Print with Binder . Dry. Foil (Printed cloth and foil passed through hot rolls). Cure(fusing 190 deg C 8-12 sec
• Binder- Excellent adhesion bonding fabric and foil, Regenerates tack when passed through hot rolls. Very soft handle despite high tack. High coverage , “ No Blind spots “
Types of foil
• Metallic Foil Paper: Metallic foil paper has a metal like sheen and gives ashiny and shimmering look to the foil stamped design. Such foil paper is available in different metal shades such as gold, silver, bronze, and copper just to name a few. In addition to metallic colors, metallic foil paper is also available in other colors such as green, blue, red, orange, yellow, and pink.
• Gloss Pigment Foil Paper: This type of foil does not have a metallic look but has a very high glossy finish. Gives a painted look.foil is also available in many different colors.
• Matte Pigment Foil Paper: The same colors that are available in gloss foil paper are also available in a dull finish as opposed to a glossy finish
• • Holographic Foil Paper: A multidimensional image made photographically with the use of lasers and special optics is called a hologram. Such hologram images are transferred on unique foil paper, which is then known as holographic foil paper. Foil design gives very special, moving effect to the foil designs.

Bead Printing • Type of Beads –
Plastic chips,Glass beads / balls,Metallic beads/ balls (golden, silver, copper),Mirrors, Natural objects like coir balls
Bead Binder - Suitable for fixation of most of beads
• Application - Print Binder ,Pour Beads ,Press , Cure

Dew Drop or Shabnam Printing • “ Three dimensional transparent droplets ” on fabric
• Application – Screens 200 microns thick
“ Deep Engraved rolls ”
“ Droplet injecting m/c ”
• Resin should be, fast drying, Non spreading
Non brittle & elastic
Suede Print
• Milky “suede additive”
• Normally 50% additive to plastisol paste. colour could be additional
• “Leathery print” feel
October 2013 Dr Sanjiv Kamat
Silicone Print • The new inks enable screen printers to
produce durable, high-quality screen printing that looks great, feels soft, and is wash resistant. The ink has high elongation (good stretch and recovery properties), so it is well suited for use on fabric with 15-20 percent spandex content.
• Traditional inks can require 12-15 layers to achieve optimal coverage. Screen printers can achieve the same effect with only three layers of the new silicone inks. The result is a less bulky finish, lower material usage, faster production cycles, and labor cost savings.

Gel-High density
October 2013 Dr Sanjiv Kamat
• Unique thick prints on substrate, resulting in a raised 3D effect • effect of screen preparation, mesh, thickness, number of coats and special ink • small portion of total print design
Cmyk photographic print
October 2013 Dr Sanjiv Kamat
• Four colour
printing of small
dots side by side
• Special screens
Smog Printing
October 2013 Dr Sanjiv Kamat
In this Smog Transfer process, the
adhesive is applied on the fabric by means
of engraved design roll. In this process, the
foil gets transferred on the fabric through
thermal pressure.
This particular process is used for textiles
as in sarees, dress materials, garments
etc. In addition it can be used for
enhancing purses, presentation paper,
jewellery cases, book covers, paper
folders, decorative materials and pandal
decoration.
