MATH PENTATHLON SHOWCASE!

Active Problem-Solving Scientific Thinking Self-Confidence Critical Thinking Determination Courage Nonroutine Problem-Solving Kindness

On September 20, 2017, all DSISD elementary and middle schools will be presenting a Math Pentathlon showcase!

What is Math Pentathlon? It’s an enrichment program, a competition—students, with a BROAD range of ability (i.e. your student doesn’t need to be a math whiz to participate!), play a set of five games. Students practice weekly (at their schools), learning the games and strategies; then compete in the spring at an Austin-wide tournament for their age division. These games help student push the boundaries of their cognitive development. Adults will find the games fun and challenging as well when they help monitor the students’ games!

Beyond cognitive growth, parents, teachers, and MP Coaches all over the country have found that the Math Pentathlon fosters character development. Students learn to win and lose respectfully, support each other, and develop grit.

Come learn about the games, and each school’s individual registration and procedures, on September 20th at 7:00 pm, hosted at Rooster Springs Elementary. There will be a short introduction into the Math Pentathlon program then game demonstrations, with question and answer time with each school about how the practices will be held and registration procedure.

Bollywood Dance (Gr. K-5 Girls & Boys)Bollywood Dance has been seen in many Hollywood movies such a Moulin Rouge, Chicago, and Slumdog Millionaire. Bollywood dancing has also been showcased several times on famous reality shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars. The word Bollywood is the fusion of two names, Bombay and Hollywood. Similarly, it also inhibits eastern and western flavor of dancing and music. The Bollywood dance style incorporates the fusion of East Indian Classical, Folk and also Contemporary movement from Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Salsa, African and Belly dancing. Brick LAB: Brain Builders (Gr. K-4)Our classes are built for LEGO Enthusiasts! Students work individually and with a partner to complete a new building challenge each week. TGA Premier Youth Tennis (Gr. K-5)Come serve it up with TGA Premier Youth Tennis at your school! TGA has partnered with the United States Tennis Association to create a fun and innovative tennis program for your child that takes place after school on campus. TGA’s 5 level elementary school curriculum includes games, drills and physical fitness activities that improve motor skills, agility and hand-eye coordination. Every TGA class focuses on academic concepts developed by educational experts, the rules and etiquette of tennis and skill development. • Register today to reserve your slots for these classes.• Classes are held on regular school days (unless otherwise noted).• Classes are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first served basis.• Classes begin the week of September 18.• Refunds will not be issued after September 11. Fees are not prorated.• Transportation will not be provided to or from classes.• Parents are to send a note to the classroom teacher weekly to serve as a reminder to send

your child to a Kids College class.• Enrolled students are to report to the cafeteria to meet the instructor immediately after

school is dismissed. (For classes held on their campus).• Pick-up areas for RSE and WSE will be at the bus pad/staff side entrance. DSE will be in

the front of the school by the main entrance. SSE will be the same location as morningdrop off. Instructors will bring students out for pick-up.

• If you are a RSE or SSE student and walking home, we MUST have WRITTEN approval.• Students with disruptive behavior may be removed from class without a refund issued.• Students are to be picked up immediately after class. There will be a late fee of $1.00 per

minute due for late pick-ups.• Please, send a snack for students to eat once they get to the cafeteria.

Young Rembrandts Elementary Drawing (Gr. 1-5)Back to school is in full swing as Young Rembrandts presents a bountiful selection of drawings that intro-duces our students to the fascinating world of color, pattern, and design. We will explore color use and com-position in our monster and dinosaur drawings, and in keeping with the season, we’ll create a stylized fall leaves landscape. We'll examine cultural themes by drawing Kawaii-inspired art and draw a portrait of our namesake, Rembrandt. Later in the session, we'll create drawings with intricate designs and vibrant colors, including a patterned lion and mandala. All this and more await. Sign up today!

REFUND POLICY: We will be happy to refund the full amount of tuition, less a $10 processing fee, when you cancel prior to one week before the camp begins. No refunds will be given after this time. Any changes to registrations prior to one week before camp begins will result in a $10 processing fee. No changes will be made after this time. Fees will not be prorated for late enrollment or missed classes. I have read and acknowledge the refund policy.

PICTURE/VIDEO RELEASE AGREEMENT: Student and Parent/Guardian release to DSISD the student’s name, picture, art, written work, voice, verbal statements, portraits (video or still) and consent to their use by DSISD. DSISD and the agrees that the student’s name, picture, art, written work, voice, verbal statements, portraits (video or still) shall only be used for honoring students, public relations, public information, school or district promotion, publicity and instruction. Student and Parent/Guardaian undterstand and agree that: No monetary consideration shall be paid; Consent and release have been given without coercion or duress; This agreement is bindng upon heirs and/or future legal representatives: The photo, video, student name, art work, written work, or students statemant may be used in subsequent years.

WAIVER OF CLAIMS: I authorize the Dripping Springs ISD, the City of Dripping Springs, its employees and agents to transport me or my child(ren) to the hospital, doctor, or dentist in the event of an injury or accident. I agree to assume all medical costs incurred. I further release Dripping Springs ISD, the City of Dripping Springs, its employ-ees and agents from all claims and responsibility for physical injury and property loss.
