We have revolutionized the commercial diving industry in Sri Lanka by offering underwater services up to a depth of 110 meters.

Prior to our arrival, work was limited to a depth of 40meters. Any deeper the time available for work was negligible and working any longer was counter productive.

For most underwater construction work we can keep divers underwater around-the-clock to expedite work.

We dive anywhere, anytime from sea level to locations as high as 10,000ft.

Be it in the open sea or in a dark tunnel at a Hydroelectric dam, we go there for you.

Staying underwater Longer

Surface supplied mixed gas diving enables our divers to work for long hours without frequent surfacing, often beyond the depth and time limits published by the US Navy and IMCA.

Depth is not our only strength but dive endurance. Each diver can work for 15 hours continuously per day underwater for most construction work, ask any other dive operator in the country to match that.

Strong safety practicesSafety of the dive and surface crew is of prime importance to us. We have an excellent safety record with more than 10,000 man hours underwater with Zero hyperbaric or mechanical injuries and accidents.

To minimize risk of barotraumas, each dive operation is carefully planned and executed following complex algorithms which simulate gas mechanics.

A Dive-Medic & Hyperbaric Chamber Operator is on standby for emergencies. DeepSea Commercial is the only commercial dive operator in Sri Lanka with a Life Support Technician (LST).

Live Diver Monitoring Our divers carry a helmet mounted & Hand held Colour camera connected to a 15” LCD screen & a digital video recorder on the surface so you can see exactly what the diver is doing.

Additional to the live video, divers are able to talk with the surface crew so you can discuss practical problems with divers while they are underwater.

DeepSea is the only commercial dive operator to offer Side Scan Sonar service in Sri Lanka. Side imaging allows the operator to get a bird’s eye view underwater even in zero visibility conditions in total darkness.

See everything, As if there were no water.

Side scan sonar is one of the most effective tools for underwater exploration because it can search a large area quickly and produce a detailed picture of anything on the bottom, regardless of water clarity.

Not only the bottom but vertical walls in ports, docks, bridge piles and other subsea and underwater structures can also be observed.

When looking at a side scan image it appears as if the water has been removed and the operator is getting an unobstructed view of the ocean floor, lake bottom, or river bed and any object in mid water. High resolution images are sent from the “TOWFISH” to a topside computer for display and storage.

Our Side Scan has a swath width of 300meters and covers more than 20,000m2 under a minute where a visual dive survey would only cover 150m2 per minute.

Bottom images can be overlaid and viewed in Google® Earth for enhanced situational awareness.

A flange was installed on a pipeline carrying river water under positive pressure. Work was done in zero visibility. Divers were in the water for more than 8 hours.

12 year old mud deposits were cleaned from fire suppression water tank. Water capacity 7.5 million liters. Depth 18meters. Tank diameter 22 meters. Cleaning was completed within 9 hours.

What is Commercial Diving

Diving for industrial underwater work, beyond the recreational depths and time limits is known as commercial diving.

It requires special training, equipment and techniques to safely and successfully complete each dive. A deep understanding of diving physics, diving physiology & mechanics, underwater power tools, rigging, salvage & underwater construction, maintenance & demolition, underwater cutting and welding is vital in becoming a commercial diver.

Work is often done in hostile environments in chemically and biologically contaminated waters. It’s considered one of the dirtiest & dangerous jobs on the planet.

Most commercial diving work is done at extreme depths for very long periods. Zero visibility conditions cause divers to touch and feel their way around. Imagine being cramped in a dark tunnel at 300feet below the surface with zero visibility.

Commercial diving has its inherent risks of barotraumas & injuries from mechanical tools which may cause temporary incapacitation, paralysis or even death under minutes.

Commercial divers are a special breed of men, only the most fearless ever enter the arena, Few live to tell their stories.
