Professional Experience

Residency program

Obstetrics

During my residency training program, I was involved in ante-natal, Intrapartum, and postpartum care of patients with gradually increasing responsibility and experience. This included comprehensive experience in the management of low and high risk pregnancies, labour and deliveries.

I worked in specialized ante-natal clinics to monitor high risk pregnancies. I have also acquired good experience in management of diabetes, cardiac, renal, thyroid diseases and different medical disorders in pregnancy.

At the delivery room, I performed and managed many normal and abnormal vaginal deliveries. I performed many caesarean sections of different indications and complications. I obtained good experience in management of almost all obstetric emergencies.

Gynaecology

I performed almost all the minor and most of the major gynaecological operations including tubal surgery, ovarian surgery, myomectomies, hysterectomies, and pelvic floor

repair. I assisted in radical hysterectomies, vaginal hysterectomies, and Burch colposuspension .

I gained good experience in general gynaecology including wards, pre & post operative assessment, and out patient clinics.I dealt with almost all gynaecological emergencies. I was actively involved in the medical and surgical management of gynaecological malignancies.

I also acquired good experience in diagnostic laparoscopic techniques.

Lecturer in Obstetrics & Gynaecology:

During my post as Full Time Lecturer at the School of Medicine, Jordan University of Science & Technology, I acquired good experience in teaching the undergraduate medical students and the O&G registrars, including bed side teaching rounds, seminars, clinical work, after hour’s roster, and clinical examinations.

I worked as independent specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. During which I actively participated in the clinical as well as the academic work.

Subspecialty Trainee in Maternal Fetal Medicine:

The Fetal Medicine Centre at the Royal Hospital for Women/ Sydney is one of the largest referral centres in the state of New South Wales/ Australia under the supervision of Dr Daniel Challis. This post provides extensive training in routine scanning of normal and abnormal pregnancies in all trimesters including (dating scans, first trimester screening program for chromosomal abnormalities, detailed anomaly scans, growth scans, cervical assessment, Doppler studies, 3D and 4D ultrasound), diagnosis and management of fetal congenital anomalies, fetal echocardiography (Dr Owen Miller), ultrasound guided invasive procedures (amniocentesis, chorionic villous sampling, cordocentesis, and others) as well as genetic counseling, in addition to the management of high risk pregnancies and medical disorders in pregnancy.

I have awarded the certificate of competence in Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound, Education & Monitoring Program from the Fetal Medicine Foundation, UK.I was actively involved in running the weekly “Fetal Assessment Clinic” which is a multidisciplinary team clinic. I had seen and managed wide range of fetal congenital abnormalities.

I was actively involved in the advanced fetal procedures including management of Rhesus disease, fetal blood sampling, fetal transfusion (IUT), selective feticide, and fetal shunt procedures as well as monopolar and bipolar coagulation for acardiac twins and for

monochorionic twins discordant for congenital, chromosomal abnormalities, and in some cases of severe growth discrepancy. I have awarded the Certificate of Credentialing in Fetal Interventional Procedures from the Royal Hospital for Women, University of New South Wales, Sydney/ Australia. Royal Hospital for Women is the sole laser centre for twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) cases in the New South Wales state (NSW) and Dr Daniel Challis is the Chief of the NSW TTTS Treatment Group. During my training I was actively involved in the laser program for TTTS and had assisted at over 30 laser procedure.

I had been participating in the weekly high-risk pregnancy and diabetes clinics under supervision of the Obstetric Physician (Dr Sandra Lowe). I had acquired good experience in dealing and managing the high-risk pregnancies and wide range of medical disorders during the pregnancy.

I was supervising the registrars in the delivery suite, operating theatre, high-risk antenatal rounds, and antenatal clinics as a consultant. I worked on the after hours roster in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and high-risk pregnancies and I had gained more experience in high risk Obstetrics and pregnancies.

I had been participating regularly in the Department and Hospital Scientific Meetings and Teaching sessions and I had had many presentations in high risk obstetrics and fetal medicine.

I attended many scientific conferences and workshops in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Obstetric Medicine as well as general Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Assistant & Associate professor and consultant, O&G and MFM:

King Abdullah University Hospital, Jordan University of Science and Technology is one of the largest tertiary hospital in Jordan and in the region. Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides our women with the best service, it has 50 beds for obstetric and gynaecology cases, in addition to delivery room which has another 10 beds as well as two operating theatres for caesarean sections.

Our department has two centres; IVF & infertility and maternal fetal medicine & high risk pregnancies. We are proud to have highly qualified and skilled staff in gynaecology oncology, urogynaecology, maternal fetal medicine, and IVF &infertility.

My clinical work involves mainly general Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as Fetal Medicine. I manage wide range of obstetric cases from antenatal care to postpartum period including low and high risk cases. In the delivery room, I perform and manage many normal and abnormal vaginal deliveries. I perform many caesarean sections of different

indications and complications. I supervise and cover our registrars and residents in managing antenatal ward and clinics, labour ward and performing caesarean sections as well as on after hour’s roster and management of obstetric emergencies.

I perform minor and major gynaecological operations including tubal surgery, ovarian surgery, myomectomies, hysterectomies (vaginal, abdominal and laparoscopic), diagnostic and operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy and pelvic floor repair as well as management of gynaecological problems and emergencies.

Regarding Maternal- Fetal Medicine, I have been performing routine scanning for normal and abnormal pregnancies in all trimesters including (dating scans, first trimester screening program for chromosomal abnormalities, detailed anomaly scans, growth scans, cervical assessment, Doppler studies, 3D and 4D ultrasound), diagnosis and management of fetal congenital anomalies, and fetal echocardiography. In addition to the management of high risk pregnancies, multiple gestations, medical disorders in pregnancy and others.

I have been performing all ultrasound guided invasive procedures (amniocentesis, chorionic villous sampling, cordocentesis, amnio-drainage, amnioinfusion, and others), in addition to the advanced fetal procedures including management of Rhesus disease, fetal blood sampling, fetal transfusion (IUT), and selective feticide for high order multiples.

Regarding my academic work, I actively participate in teaching the medical students (5 th

and 6th years) and our registrars and residents including lectures, seminars, bed-side teaching, and scientific activities and workshops.

I have active participation in other activities outside the University and hospital, such as national and international meetings, member of many societies, out-reach clinical screening clinics, and others.
