  • THE QUESTION

HOW CAN I CREATE A SOCIAL COMMUNITY TARGETED TOWARDS MILLENNIALS TO HELP ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR CURIOSITY OF THE WORLD?

  • AUDIENCE

My Audience is Millennials. I have done some good amount of research on understanding my audience. Things like figuring out why millennials are the way they are, what makes them different from other generations, and what makes them tick.

  • The age range of millenials is between those born in 1983 to 2000.

  • RESEARCH

Some interesting facts and key points from my research I felt were important to understanding my audience.

  • HOW TO DESCRIBE THEM?

A lot of people refer to millennials as narcissist, when really we are just self expressionist. We are also described as Tech savvy, ambitious, self confident, and highly educated.

  • WHAT ARE THEIR PRIORITIES?

Research done by Pew social trends 52% of Millennials priorities were to be a good parent. 30% to have a successful marriage 21% helping those in need 20% owning a home 15% living a religious life style 15% having a high paying carreer 9% having free time and 1% becoming famous

  • WHAT ABOUT COLLEGE?

more millenials have a college degree than any other generation of young adults

  • WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT?

but what makes millenials unique from generations is their technology use, music, and how they are liberal/tolerant

  • WHAT DO THEY LOOK FOR IN SOCIAL SITES?

    AN IMPORTANT QUESTION

speaking of technology, an important question is to understand what millenials look for in social sites.

  • COMMUNICATING KILLING TIME SHARING PHOTOS SHARING INFORMATION ORGANIZING GET TOGETHERS WATCHING VIDEOS

TOP 6 DRIVERS TO SOCIAL NETWORKS

here are the top 6 drivers for millennials to use social networks

  • WHAT MAKES SITES APPEALING TO MILLENNIALS?

    AN IMPORTANT QUESTION

another important question is what makes sites appealing to millennials understanding what millenials look for in websites will help me create something that will be appealing to them.

  • HUMOR, AMAZING GRAPHICS, WELL WRITTEN CONTENT, & ENGAGED COMMUNITIES

  • OBJECTIVE

TO CREATE A SOCIAL COMMUNITY/SYSTEM FOR THOSE WHO HAVE EVERYDAY THEORETIC QUESTIONS

with the research I have done, I plan on completing this objective by creating a social system housed on the web and in a mobile app. Content for the site will be self generated, and acquired from others.

  • PROPOSAL OF ARTIFACTS

CREATE A VIDEO THAT INCLUDES ANIMATIONS OF THE WEBSITE AND MOBILE APP, EXPLAINING THE STRUCTURE, AND HOW IT WORKS.

this includes 2 scenarios for desktop and 3 for the app

  • BRANDING

My schedule for completing this project, includes Branding, wire framing, digital wireframes, and scenairos for the first month.

  • PERSONAL | THOUGHTFUL | CURIOUS | EXPLORATORY

    KEYWORDS

When thinking about branding, and what I want these platforms to look like I wanted to focus on these keywords: Thoughtful, Curious, Personal, and Exploratory

  • DIRECTION ONE

The branding process is still a WIP, but this is one of my final designs, I decided to go with the name why, because this platform will house questions that are being asked so what better way to name it then what it really is

  • R: 61G: 61B: 61

    R: 252G: 217B: 48

    R: 41G: 170B: 225

    R: 225G: 225B: 225

    DIRECTION ONE

The colors consist of highlights of blue and yellow to give a sense of curiosity, and exploration with a script typeface to circle it back around to personal, here is the color scheme, and app icon examples

  • DIRECTION TWO

LEAVE YOUR MARK ON THE WORLDLEAVE YOUR MARK ON THE WORLD

this is the second of my final designs, I decided to go with the name remark, because the types of questions being asked are peoples remarks. This design has two different variations [click] , and I havent choose which one I think fits better.

  • DIRECTION TWO

LEAVE YOUR MARK ON THE WORLD

    R: 71G: 178B: 163

    R: 203G: 203B: 303

    R: 255G: 255B: 255

    R: 0G: 0B: 0

The color choosen gives a sense of thought and curiousness [click], with a script typeface that looks almost handwritten to leave a personal mark since these are peoples thoughts.

  • WIREFRAMES

Along with finalizing a logo I started working on my wireframes, just a beginning exploration to what the struture may be for the app and website

  • Here are some rough layouts to what the login screen pictured on left could consist of, the main screen within the app [pictured right] usually at this stage these dont consist of colors or design just yet, this is just the structure of where things could go. I added color so it would be a little easier to understand.

  • here are some initial sketches for the desktop, I was playing around with how to organize the information and different places to move the navigation bar. From this point I will start to finalize my logo and move forward with even more wireframes!
