DeLeon Parents, Student safety is always a priority at DeLeon. DeLeon students and staff will be practicing two lock down drills this week. An announced lock down drill will be held on Thursday, February 22nd at 8:20 am. A second drill will be held on Friday, February 23rd, at an unannounced time. It is essential that we develop and practice our Crisis Management Plan so students, teachers and parents will be prepared in the event there is imminent danger inside or outside the building requiring immediate lock down mode. This procedure restricts access into the school and movement within the building to ensure the safety of all students, staff and visitors. All doors, windows and classrooms will be locked and no one will be allowed to leave or enter the building. Students and staff will remain in their classrooms until a full accounting of students has been successfully conducted. In the event it was an actual lock down, authorities would determine when the crisis is over an safe to resume normal activities. Students and staff will be accounted for once again and the doors will open allowing parents to enter the building. Teachers will prepare students for the drill by assuring them these drills are only practice. Parents, please do the same and reassure your child that the drill is similar to a fire drill and is a safety measure. Be aware that doors will be locked during the drill which lasts approximately 15 minutes. Thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please call the school at 788-9553. All the best, Mrs. Reyna and Mrs. White

PERFECT ATTENDANCE Please remember to plan Dr.’s appointments and family events before or after school so your child does not lose instructional time by being pulled out

************************************************ Parents, please review your Student Handbook on attendance. It is very
important that your child attend school.
Birthday Corner
The Victoria Independent School District does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, na-tional origin, gender, disability, or age for admission, treatment, or participation in its educational programs, ser-vices and activities, or employment. El distrito escolar de Victoria no discrimina contra ninguna persona por motivos de raza, color, origen nacional, sexo, discapacidad o edad de admisión, tratamiento, o la participación en los pro-gramas educativos, servicios y actividades, o empleo.
Attention Parents!
Please make sure your child is prepared with all supplies when dropped
off at school. We have had a great number of students forgetting back-
packs, lunch kits, and lunch money. Instructional time is very important and we
cannot interrupt classes. Also, if you bring your child an outside lunch, you must
wait in the cafeteria and hand deliver it to your child.
Box Tops for
Education
We continue to collect Box Tops and would love it if you could collect them and send them to your child’s classroom. You can find them on many packages from taco shells to school supplies. Each regular box top is worth 10 cents and those can add up quickly when we all turn them in.
Notes from
the Nurse
Please do not send
your child to school if they
had a fever within 24 hours. Children
should remain fever free for 24 hours
without fever reducing medication,
such as Tylenol and Motrin, before
they return to school even if they are
fine the next morning. This is also
true with diarrhea.
Please do not send any medications to
school including cough drops, sun-
screen and bug spray, with your child.
Medication must be brought in by a
parent. The VISD form for medica-
tion administration needs to be filled
out with a signature by the parent for
administration, no handwritten notes
are accepted. Anything staying in the
nurse's office longer than 10 days
requires a doctor's signature along
with the parent signature.
