We, Monique Mooij, from MOOiJ! Advies voor Ruimtelijk Ontwerp and Ronald van Bommel, from Plan34 2D/3D Styling -‐ Design -‐ VisualisaMe were asked, along with two other design offices, to give a small presentaMon how we thought to visualize the public space, surrounding the new Railway staMon in Del= (a design by BAU -‐ B.Arquitectura i Urbanisme SL from Barcelona). Because of what we could do with SketchUp (back then SketchUp 8), the community of Del= chose us tot draw the 3D visualizaMon(s) of the Railway staMon area.

The community of Del= did not choose BAU itself to make the visualizaMon. They wanted an independent party to draw the design and at the same Mme, to validate the design for it’s possible (and later on apparent) flaws. Because of that the city of Del= could point out to BAU their "design flaws" before they made their final detailing plans.

We received a huge stack of maps, informaMon books and drawings on the design of the enMre area, covering about 2,5 km (almost 2 miles) along the old city centre of Del=. All of those in 2D.

CreaMng the [Spoorzone] component collecMon
We had to built all the objects and elements ourselves, as most of them were especially designed for this project by BAU. These include almost all of the proposed lampposts, benches, bridges, railings, liaer bins, etc, which were described in the documentaMon about the public space.

During the process the city of Del= redesigned parts of the plan, as a result of us finding some ‘flaws’ in the original design. As much as possible, we integrated these changes during the building of the model which was someMmes a huge challenge in how to keep all the exisMng constructed area’s connected.

Roaerdam) with the aid of a 3D rendering office (JDB graphics, Oegstgeest). This resulted in these 2D Photoshop impressions and some 360 degree visuals on the website of the Railway Area Del= hap://www.spoorzonedel=.nl/toekomst/inrichMng_openbare_ruimte/
