CONNECT The most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents and teachers.
DPSGI believes in maintaining a strong bond between the parents and teachers to initiate positive
development in the children. It organized Parent’s Teacher meet in the beginning of the session preceded
by an Orientation Program focusing on the PYP curriculum and classroom transactions. The parents were
made aware of the step wise progress of Kath Murdoch’s Inquiry Cycle taken up for each unit to build up
conceptual knowledge and skills in the children. The initiative was appreciated by the parents as their
apprehensions were taken care of and they were given clarity regarding every minute detail.
CELEBRATING EARTH DAY Earth Day can be a great time for learning more about our environment and the small steps that we can
take to care for our planet. Students of Grade 5 Daisy conducted a special assembly which began with
Sarv Dharam prathna and English prayer. It was followed by vocabulary enrichment and poems on Earth
Day. The students then shared some of the great ways to practice PRECYCLE. They shared the Earthman's
recipe for precycling which means "preventing recycling" by taking a little action before. Students also
shared the history of the Blue Earth Flag, its meaning and Symbolism and different ways of recycling done
in other countries. This was followed by teachers talk where students were encouraged to keep an Earth
Day Fast by spending an entire day without using energy, or at least, limiting it.
OUR EARTH Earth day is a reminder.
Of our eternal duty to protect our planet, our home.
Let’s join hands on Earth day to make our Earth a better place to live in. Class III conducted morning
assembly on 18th April on the theme ‘Our Earth. They started the day with Calisthenics exercise followed
by Sarvadharm Prathana and English prayer. Vocabulary was also shared with the students with its
meaning and sentence. This was followed by thought for the day and reciting of a poem both in Hindi and
English. The students were updated with latest happenings around the world and made aware of this year’s
theme of Earth Day ‘Environmental and climate literacy’.
CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS’
‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’ is a famous proverb which means maintenance of cleanliness leads a
person towards goodness.
The assembly was conducted by the students of class IV Daisy on the topic of ‘Cleanliness”. The assembly
started with a prayer to the Almighty, followed by thought for the day, news headlines, poem – Being
clean. Word for the Day- ‘Cleanliness’ and a story on the theme were also shared with students. With
cleanliness drive all over the country, students shared an inspiring message “Be the change you want to
see in the world’ and requested the other students to join hands and work to keep our country clean and
green undertaking the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan started by our Prime Minister.
MY FAMILY
A family has an important role in children's future, As they grow, family relationships help the little ones
create healthier connections with teachers, friends, and other people in their lives. To extend their
knowledge and create a stronger bond with their family members, class 1 took up ‘My Family’ as their first
theme. The students learnt about their family members and enriched their vocabulary revising spellings
through a PEC activity. Then they used small models of family members on popsicle sticks to make small
and big family. They were also able to learn the names, spellings and their place in small or big family.
HEALTHY EATING
‘Don’t focus on how much you eat, focus on what you eat.’
Students learn better when they’re well nourished. Eating healthy meals has been linked to better
memory, alertness, and faster information processing. One reason for this is that foods that are rich in fiber,
protein, and healthy fats such as eggs, yogurt, apples and oatmeal keep the body feeling full longer,
providing enough energy to focus and stay alert throughout the entire day. Relating to the ongoing theme
‘Who we are’ and focussing on Health, hygiene and safety, Class II Daisy students participated in a hands-
on activity of healthy food making. They prepared different healthy food recipes like Fruit chaat,
Vegetable sandwich and raita. They enjoyed the activity very much and excitedly served the healthy
food to Principal ma’am, teachers and other students. Their effort was highly appreciated.
