Cloudbreak iron ore project, Western Australia
Client: Fortescue Metals Group
Project overview
Cloudbreak is an iron ore mine located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. It commenced production in 2008.
The ore processing facility is being upgraded to include a ‘wet-front end’ and ore wash plant.
Project scope
Project scope is to add a wet area handling facility to an existing dry handling iron ore plant (Cloudbreak)
EPC contract for AU$250million (reimbursable)
Project being undertaken as a JV with Kiewit Australia (provide construction)
AMEC’s principal role comprises engineering, procurement of equipment, site support and commissioning
Highlights
Reimbursable EPC contract; currently 35% complete - on budget and on original schedule (Sept 2012 completion)
