DHL/RICOH PILOT - PROJECT SUMMARY
BACKGROUND
Joint initiative established between DSC BNL, CSI Trend Research and
Ricoh to prove whether smart glasses can be used for order picking in a
more cost effective manner than RF scanners and paper pick lists
Pilot lasted three weeks (Dec 2014) and covered the development of a
trolley picking solution using 2x Google Glass and Vuzix M100 in parallel
Trial took place using Ubimax’s server for batch upload/download of orders
at all 5 aisles within the D3 warehouse zone (approx. 1,000 SKUs)
BENEFITS FROM VISION PICKING
Productivity increase from increased speed/pick
Improvement of picking accuracy
Satisfied and engaged employees
Reduction in paper
Brand positioning for DHL as an innovation leader
