SOLUTIONS OVERVIEW
THE ANSWER TO BIG CHALLENGES
Many organizations are looking for ways to drive more differentiation,
redefine their business models, and enable innovation in an increasingly
digital world. In order to achieve this, IT must fundamentally transform
itself and deliver IT services with greater speed and agility in order to
keep pace with this fast-paced, highly competitive digital environment. In
an IDG survey, 83% of C-level executives said that they either currently
use or plan to use a hybrid cloud as an innovation enabler to help grow
the business. However, the challenge for IT is that building and sustaining
a hybrid cloud architecture is complex, requires multi-disciplined
expertise, and can be both time consuming and risky —until now.
A TURNKEY APPROACH TO HYBRID CLOUD
Dell EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud dramatically simplifies the deployment
of a VMware-based hybrid cloud platform - accelerating a customer’s IT
transformation efforts while reducing risks. As a turnkey platform, it is
designed, tested, and integrated by Dell EMC and includes on-going
lifecycle management and single call support across the entire stack -
freeing IT resources from the complexity of doing it themselves.
Enterprise Hybrid Cloud accelerates IT transformation by simplifying the
delivery of IT services for traditional enterprise applications across private
and public clouds. It supports a rich feature set and broad choice of
infrastructure options for enterprises of all sizes. It provides an
Infrastructure as a Service foundation with automated, self-service
provisioning that combines the control, reliability, and confidence of
private cloud with the simplicity, flexibility, and cost efficiency of a public
cloud.
With Enterprise Hybrid Cloud on Dell EMC VxRail appliances, a Cloud
Control Point manages separate workload infrastructure which can be
added as capacity requirements evolve, providing a simplified, cost-
effective approach to scaling the platform.
In addition, when VxRails are used as workload infrastructure, the
CloudFlex program from Dell Financial Services provides a flexible
consumption model that enables users to experience the benefits of
hyper-converged infrastructure with minimal financial risk.

ESSENTIALS
The Challenge
IT must change how they deliver value to the
business and adapt to demands dictating delivery
of traditional enterprise applications and IT
services with greater speed and agility.
Businesses require a mix of private- and public-
cloud services, however it can be difficult to bring
these clouds together while maintaining control
and visibility. Nonetheless the business will not
wait, and IT must deliver flexible, easy- to-use,
self-service access to IT resources or risk losing
relevancy.
The Solution
Dell EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud enables IT to:
Accelerate delivery of traditional enterprise
applications
Deliver always-on Infrastructure-as-a-Service
Automate the delivery of private- and public-
cloud resources
Empower IT consumers with a self-service
catalog for on-demand IT resources
Encrypt virtual machines against data theft
anywhere within the hybrid cloud
Protect virtual machines against disaster recovery
using RecoverPoint for virtual machines.
Increase visibility into infrastructure
consumption by application for increased
cost transparency
Communicate the value of IT services
through show-back
Start small and scale out rapidly as demand
for services grow

Alongside Enterprise Hybrid Cloud are a broad portfolio of services that IT organizations can leverage ranging from
setting a cloud strategy in alignment with business goals, to full design, installation, deployment, and management of
the hybrid cloud. All of this with the end goal of accelerating the time to value of the hybrid cloud platform.
TRANSFORMING IT TO DELIVER BUSINESS VALUE
Enterprise Hybrid Cloud enables IT organizations to become strategic partners of the business by providing IT services
with greater speed and agility. A self-service portal simplifies both application management and IT services delivery.
Workflows and blueprints streamline the provisioning and de-provisioning of applications and IT resources including
security policies, to accelerate the management of complex, multi-tier applications down to minutes with no need for
manual intervention.
A dashboard communicates the value of IT services consumed, helping align application workloads to the right cloud,
with the right cost, security, reliability, and performance requirements — including extending workloads and
applications to a choice of public clouds. This simplified, self-service approach to application and IT resource
management enables the business to move faster through a more responsive and agile IT model.

EXTENDING THE PLATFORM TO DELIVER IT-AS-A-SERVICE
Enterprise Hybrid Cloud enables IT organizations to simplify delivery of IT-as-a-Service with add-on modules. These
modular add-ons are prepackaged options that are maintained and supported with the platform. They are comprised of
service blueprints that provide faster and easier provisioning of IT services that include data protection such as backup
with Avamar and Data Domain, disaster recovery with RecoverPoint and Continuous Availability with VPLEX as well
as encryption services through CloudLink.
In addition, Enterprise Hybrid Cloud’s integration program simplifies the extension of capabilities beyond the platform.
Published APIs provide the integration path for 3rd party offerings including:
Puppet Enterprise for OS and application configuration lifecycle management
ServiceNOW for IT service management
Palo Alto Networks Security for network firewalls for protecting against cyberattacks, and
InfoBlox IP Address Management

This enables IT organizations to continue to leverage their existing investments in these technologies while improving
operational processes ultimately helping achieve better ROI.
ENABLING AN ALWAYS-ON, SCALABLE HYBRID CLOUD PLATFORM
Enterprise Hybrid Cloud simplifies the complexity of a scaled out, cloud architecture by managing up to four
sites/vCenters from a single, centrally managed self-service catalog. Active-active provisioning across sites in
combination with Enterprise Hybrid Cloud’s full continuum of data protection, high-availability, and disaster recovery
options enables platform scaling that offer the unique ability of maintaining workload backup and security policies
ensure workloads are always available, even in the event of a site failure.
SECURING THE CLOUD WITH CONFIDENCE
With the focus on delivering a strong security posture for today’s digital business, Enterprise Hybrid Cloud offers
several capabilities to protect mission critical data down to the workload that are defined through the self-service
catalog. Application blueprints simplify the addition of security policies that are portable and remain with their
workloads as they reside in and move between on and off-premises hosts.
Through an add-on option, encryption can be applied to individual workloads using CloudLink SecureVM providing
cloud administrators with the ability to set encryption policies based on workload type or location. Whether securing the
development life cycle or running a complex application, Enterprise Hybrid Cloud can ensure adequate separation of
application stacks and isolation of development, test and production environments. Network micro-segmentation
protects and separates the components to restrict the access and communication to the business-defined rulesets.
Policies are dynamic and follow the workload, providing true mobility between all computing locations.
INTELLIGENT MONITORING AND REPORTING
Through built-in visibility across the hybrid cloud platform, Enterprise Hybrid Cloud provides IT teams with built-in
dashboards pre-loaded with industry standards and vendor specific data to understand the status of the platform.
Automated, intelligent analytics-based monitoring of the health and performance of the platform simplifies the
identification of performance or capacity issues, enabling a faster, pro-active resolution to any potential problems.
A dashboard, including metering and show-back capabilities, communicates the value of IT services and infrastructure
consumption down to the application level, providing financial transparency IT consumers to align workloads to the
right cloud for meeting service level and cost objectives down to the virtual machine and/or application level.
